What happens if my child gets sick at childcare (and when will I be called)?

If your child gets sick at childcare, educators will monitor their condition, keep them comfortable and contact you if they need extra care or to be picked up. Childcare staff are trained in first aid, asthma and anaphylaxis management, and follow strict procedures when administering medication. While services may check your child’s temperature, decisions are based on overall wellbeing, not just a number. If a child is too unwell to participate or requires more care than can be provided, parents will be contacted. Childcare services aim to balance each child’s comfort with the health and safety of the wider group and will always keep you informed.
