Arkie Wahroonga aims to change the trajectory of children’s education through fun learning opportunities, interactions and experiences.

The centre has an amazing studio space, inspired by its association with The Rolling Stone Australia magazine, where children can express themselves through the joy of music. Dance activities also help children refine motor skills and develop personal expression.

Sensory experiences give children the chance to actively use their senses to explore their ideas and imagination. The open-ended opportunities for sensory play include activities that engage all the senses (touch, sight, hearing, smell and taste). This helps children develop physical, social, emotional, cognitive and language skills, as well as creativity and independence

The Bush Kinder program provides children with rich opportunities to learn through outdoor free play. Activities include using real tools, climbing trees, playing with mud and sticks, bare feet time and playing with fire. The children enjoy outdoor play in all weather conditions with the philosophy that “there is no bad weather, only bad clothes” .

The passionate team of educators strive to live sustainably as guardians of the environment for future generations. The centre’s sustainability program provides wonderful opportunities for children to discover and connect with nature, while also learning about the importance of caring for the planet.

Family founded, the centre truly appreciates the importance of family. While the team believes in the importance of play, the educators are also committed to the highest level of safety, care and education for every child.

The team also keeps parents up to date via the Arkie App. This includes regular updates about a child’s day, photos of different activities and events plus information on the children’s routines. It’s also very easy for parents to contact the team with questions or to share important information.

The Arkie curriculum is underpinned by the concept that “the process is the product” – learning through play.  Play is so fundamental to a child’s optimal development that it has been recognised by the United Nations High Commission as a right of every child. The centre’ holistic, play-based program is designed with the Early Years Learning Framework (EYLF) in mind and adapted to Arkie’s teaching philosophy.
