Absolutely love Narrabri Community Kids. We have put all of our children through the centre, which equates to 10 wonderful years of being part of their community. Over that time, we have seen first-hand the dedication, care, and passion the staff put into every single day. The long opening hours are a real blessing for working parents, giving us peace of mind that our children are cared for in a safe and happy environment. The nutritious, balanced meals provided each day are a big bonus — they’re even advertised for parents to see, so we can keep track of what the children are eating and share feedback if needed. The centre’s program is always fun, interactive, and thoughtfully designed. From dressing up and learning about colours to engaging storytimes, craft activities, and outdoor play, there’s never a dull moment. But they are more than just a childcare service — they are an early education hub, laying strong foundations that benefit the children well into their primary school years. The friendships, social skills, and confidence our children have gained during their time there are invaluable. Narrabri Community Kids isn’t just a centre to us — it’s been an extension of our family, and we are so grateful for the love, support, and learning they’ve given our kids over the years.

  • Local school connections.

We focus on strong family partnerships through regular learning and development conversations with your child’s lead educator, learning showcases, and in-centre family events. Our Xplor app provides real-time updates and learning summaries daily to keep you informed on your child’s journey.

About the Curriculum

About the Curriculum

“Let the child be the scriptwriter, director and the actor in their own play” - Magda Gerber

Nursery Space: 6 weeks – 2 years

Learning starts from before birth, and our Educators have created a welcoming and nurturing nursery environment where each baby feels safe to explore and discover new things - through their senses, their communication and cues (body language, facial expression and sounds) and through experimentation. On any given day you can see the nursery children engaging in all types of play including sensory play, music time, story time and more. Every day provides a brand new, exciting adventure for our babies to support their development, learning and wellbeing.

Toddler Space: 2 - 3 years

Our teachers and educators encourage the children to learn through play to help enhance their sensory-motor development. This happens through carefully planned music, dance, games, role playing and reading experiences.

On any given day the Toddlers can be seen developing their numeracy by building a tower, sorting objects, pointing and identifying shapes and patterns and participating in counting songs and games.

Children in our toddler space are encouraged to participate in group play. Group play is important as it helps our toddlers develop important social skills such as, turn-taking, developing self-confidence and emotional self-regulation. Our skilled team helps children through talking, planning and role modelling.

Preschool Space: 3 – 6 years

Preschool is a unique time for learning with peers and developing skills for later learning including confidence and curiosity, important skills for starting school. Our play-based program has school readiness at its core, encouraging active engagement in learning and supporting a range of positive developmental outcomes including resilience, independence, critical thinking and creativity.

The oral language supports literacy learning and a child’s oral language ability is the best predictor for later success in learning to read and write. Hearing the sounds within a language is the first critical step for all literacy learning. Our team supports our Preschool children's literacy development by engaging in rich discussions, reading, storytelling, dramatic play and experimentation all of which introduce new vocabulary as part of everyday conversations.

Throughout the Preschool year, children use their language to share ideas, ask questions, express themselves, and connect with peers and adults in social settings.

Social-emotional skills, including the ability to self-regulate emotions, are supported through group learning experiences. Our team supports each child’s social and emotional development by labelling and talking about emotions and supporting appropriate responses as together, they engage in new and challenging situations. Our goal in the Preschool year is to prepare children and families for a smooth transition to primary school.

Health and Nutrition

Health and Nutrition

Our centre chef prepares and cooks nutritious meals daily, catering to the unique dietary requirements of every child. We believe that by encouraging active participation (such as growing their own fruit and vegetables, preparing, and finally cooking!) children learn to appreciate and understand the importance of healthy eating across a wide variety of food.

Our centre offers seasonal whole food-based menus – created to delight the fussiest eaters.

Meet the team

Meet the team

Hi my name is Tina, and I am the Centre Manager here at Community Kids Narrabri. I began my early childhood education and care career in the early 2000s first as a Room Leader and then as the Centre Manager for Community Kids Narrabri. I have my Diploma of Community Services (Children Services) and a Bachelor of Teaching (Early Childhood).

All childcare centres, including our centre, use the foundation of play-based learning to guide our experiences every day. With access to a range of age-appropriate learning resources, trained educators, and new experiences among friends, we set children up to thrive in an environment that is dedicated to learning.

Children develop their curiosity, problem-solving, confidence and resilience at our centre, and we carefully plan play-based learning experiences around their interests and learning goals. Over time, you will see your child develop abilities such as language, motor movement, memory, concentration and social relationships all by partaking in these experiences - it's a truly incredible journey to witness!

My team all have a very friendly and warm approach to the children in our care. The easy-going relationships that we build with our families reflect the small rural community that we live in. We are very community-minded and expose the children in our care to our local community through regular excursion and outings. We spend the time meeting our community and being present in it. We also support our community through fundraisers that are meaningful to the families in our care.

I am so proud of the community connections that we have built here at the centre and the sense of family we have with our families. It is so beautiful to see the relationships that our families have been able to build with the Educators over the years, making me very happy and fulfilled to see.

We understand that starting at a new centre can be overwhelming and that is why from the first inquiry, we make sure that we address all your questions one by one. We walk families through all the forms and administration that need to be done. This includes enrolment forms, Child Care Subsidy (CCS), explaining subsidies, government caps, centre schedules, our centre menu and more.

Community Kids Childcare Centre is a great place to have your children attend if you are looking for them to thrive in a happy, friendly and loving environment. My son has been attending the centre for 3 years and loves it. All the educators go above and beyond to make sure yours and your childs needs are met and to ensure that everyone is getting the most out of their experiences there.

Community Kids here in Narrabri has come forward in leaps and bounds since the new Center Manager has stepped into her role of late. Opening hours are excellent, the food for the children has become more diverse which my child is thoroughly enjoying, the educators adore the children and it shows, they are caring and its a safe environment. Everyone is easy to get on with and nothing is a hassle. Communication is key between a child care center and parent/s and we have that here. You wont find better locally!
