Nicole and her team are second to none. The centre presents beautifully, the staff are genuine and caring. My child is always engaged and doesnt want to leave when I come to pick them up! I'm so grateful that they were able to take us on at short notice and treat my child like he had been there for years. Thanks again team! Mike.

About the Curriculum

About the Curriculum

“Let the child be the scriptwriter, director and the actor in their own play” - Magda Gerber

Nursery Space: 6 weeks – 2 years

Learning starts from before birth, and our Educators have created a welcoming and nurturing nursery environment where each baby feels safe to explore and discover new things - through their senses, their communication and cues (body language, facial expression and sounds) and through experimentation. On any given day you can see the nursery children engaging in all types of play including sensory play, music time, story time and more. Every day provides a brand new, exciting adventure for our babies to support their development, learning and wellbeing.

Toddler Space: 2 - 3 years

Our teachers and educators encourage the children to learn through play to help enhance their sensory-motor development. This happens through carefully planned music, dance, games, role playing and reading experiences.

On any given day the Toddlers can be seen developing their numeracy by building a tower, sorting objects, pointing and identifying shapes and patterns and participating in counting songs and games.

Children in our toddler space are encouraged to participate in group play. Group play is important as it helps our toddlers develop important social skills such as, turn-taking, developing self-confidence and emotional self-regulation. Our skilled team helps children through talking, planning and role modelling.

Preschool Space: 3 – 6 years

Preschool is a unique time for learning with peers and developing skills for later learning including confidence and curiosity, important skills for starting school. Our play-based program has school readiness at its core, encouraging active engagement in learning and supporting a range of positive developmental outcomes including resilience, independence, critical thinking and creativity.

The oral language supports literacy learning and a child’s oral language ability is the best predictor for later success in learning to read and write. Hearing the sounds within a language is the first critical step for all literacy learning. Our team supports our Preschool children's literacy development by engaging in rich discussions, reading, storytelling, dramatic play and experimentation all of which introduce new vocabulary as part of everyday conversations.

Throughout the Preschool year, children use their language to share ideas, ask questions, express themselves, and connect with peers and adults in social settings.

Social-emotional skills, including the ability to self-regulate emotions, are supported through group learning experiences. Our team supports each child’s social and emotional development by labelling and talking about emotions and supporting appropriate responses as together, they engage in new and challenging situations. Our goal in the Preschool year is to prepare children and families for a smooth transition to primary school.

Health and Nutrition

Health and Nutrition

Our centre chef prepares and cooks nutritious meals daily, catering to the unique dietary requirements of every child. We believe that by encouraging active participation (such as growing their own fruit and vegetables, preparing, and finally cooking!) children learn to appreciate and understand the importance of healthy eating across a wide variety of food.

Our centre offers seasonal whole food-based menus – created to delight the fussiest eaters.

Meet the team

Hi my name is Krysta, and I am the Centre Manager here at Community Kids Bangor. My early childhood education and care career began in 2012 and I have been working at  ever since. I hold a Certificate III in Early Childhood Education, which I achieved in 2014. I then went on to complete my Diploma of Early Childhood Education & Care in 2017. I have nine years of experience working in various capacities in Early Education. I have extensive experience working with children, including four years of experience in the Assistant Centre Manager role, which has led me to take on the Centre Manager's role.

It was always my childhood dream to be a "Kindy Teacher". I always had my heart set on working with children. Over my many years in the early childhood education and care, I have learned that every child is unique. This has influenced my teaching style to ensure I am ever-evolving and adapting to the children's many varying needs and interests in my care.

My teaching philosophy is to provide enriched and well-balanced experiences where children's interests are enhanced. Through engaging setups and a curriculum driven by children's interest, we allow children to be capable learners. Here at our child care and early education centre, we are empowering children to foster positive learning skills and a passion for further discoveries.

At  child care and early education centre, we understand that learning is a lifelong process. We have a team of qualified, friendly, experienced and passionate educators, some of whom have been at the centre for many years. They work with families of the community to provide secure, happy and stimulating learning environments where all children can thrive. We take pride in knowing all our educators hold strong relationships with the children and families at our Centre. Our Pre-school Program is led by a qualified Early Childhood Teacher and ensures your child is given the best start possible before embarking on their Primary School Journey.

Families are leaving their most precious thing in the world with us. We understand how hard that can be for families, which is why we offer as many transition sessions as needed for children that are just starting with us. We provide a personal tour for families, not rushing them and allowing them time to ask questions. I assist with all aspects of enrolling at the Centre: filling in forms, understanding  &  etc. Our child care centre have an open-door policy where families feel comfortable coming and chatting with me about anything.

Drop in for a visit or  and let us welcome you into our Community Kids family.

I absolutely love this centre! The educational program that Nicole and her team provide is truly exceptional. It’s clear they put so much care and effort into creating meaningful learning experiences for the children. Nicole is always there with a smile, greeting families every morning and afternoon. Her presence and dedication bring such a comforting sense of consistency and warmth. You can really feel the strong sense of community and genuine care from the whole team. If you’re looking for a safe, nurturing, and enriching environment for your child, I couldn’t recommend this place more highly.
