How refreshing it is to find a centre that prioritises outdoor and creative play! Having staff like Tressa is such a benefit especially when having to drop off our baby who is not yet at the age to speak about his day, I can always tell how his day has gone when I pick him up seeing his reaction to saying goodbye to her. And again at drop off when he is greeted by her in the morning. So grateful to have a 2nd home for him while we are busy working. LOVE THIS CENTRE!

About Sanctuary Early Learning Adventure - Maudsland

At Sanctuary Maudsland, we have created an early learning environment where children feel deeply connected, genuinely supported and inspired to explore the world around them. Surrounded by natural outdoor spaces and sweeping verandas, our centre offers a calm, home-like atmosphere where children can learn, grow and belong.

Our approach is guided by play-based, child-led learning, allowing children the time and space to follow their interests, build confidence and engage in meaningful discovery. We believe learning should not be rushed, and our educators take a slow, intentional approach that values curiosity, creativity and strong relationships.

What makes Sanctuary Maudsland truly special is the strength of our team and community. Families are welcomed into a centre where relationships are prioritised and children are supported by consistent educators who know them deeply. This strong sense of connection is reflected throughout the centre, from the welcoming daily interactions to the thoughtful rituals and routines that shape each day.

Our environments are intentionally designed to encourage independence, exploration and connection with nature. Children are actively involved in everyday experiences such as setting tables, serving meals and caring for their environment, helping build confidence, responsibility and a sense of capability from an early age.

Our commitment to quality was recognised through our Exceeding rating in key areas including Physical Environment, Staffing Arrangements, Collaborative Partnerships with Families and Community, and Governance and Leadership.

Safety and wellbeing are at the heart of everything we do. Through strong child-safe practices, meaningful relationships and a calm, predictable environment, children feel secure, supported and confident to thrive.

We offer long day care and a government-approved Kindergarten program, supporting children from their earliest years through to a confident transition to school.

Programs

Programs

All included as part of the daily fee.

Gardening club: this supports children to develop new skills, gain confidence and have fun. While caring for plants, children learn responsibility and respect for the environment.

Junior chefs program: cooking is used to help build independence, and to encourage them to try new foods. Children explore with their senses, learn basic maths and science concepts, practice turn taking and most importantly have fun in small groups.

Community visitors: designed to give children a sense of belonging and identity, through special visits and excursions within the local community. They enjoy talks from emergency service personnel, connecting with and learning from indigenous elders, visits to local aged care facilities, swimming lessons, library visits, trips to the supermarket and more.

Sports program: With weekly incursions focused on ball skills, agility and working as a team to improving gross motor skills, hand eye coordination and balance.

Yoga, meditation & mindfulness: the children enjoy taking time out of their busy playtime each week to reap the key benefits such as the ability to develop greater awareness, manage stress and overwhelm, build concentration, increase their confidence and positive self-image, and feel part of a healthy, non-competitive group.

Sustainability & nature: Environmental Sustainability is a strong focus within the centre with children learning that they can make a difference by being involved in sustainable initiatives and learning to care for the land. The centre also has their own worm farm which helps to teach children about how they play a part in caring for the environment.

Music: Music is an essential part of children’s development, and they enjoy the interactive sessions that help develop confidence, memory, language and coordination skills. With music and rhythm classes for all ages.

Dancing: as children love to dance, the centre offers regular dance classes for children from 3 years. With a major emphasis on fun and creating confidence, dance encourages children to be free, release energy and promote happy endorphins.

About the curriculum

About the curriculum

The centre believes that all children bring their perspectives, expectations, knowledge and skills to their learning experience. The programs are child focused and inspired by children’s curiosity and imagination. Programming is based on observing children on a regular basis, evaluating their needs and interests and planning future activities from these observations.

The centre has a focus on play-based learning and recognises the importance of communication, language, numeracy, social and emotional development. Much of the learning programs are based around STEAM, a curriculum based on education in four specific areas – Science, Technology, Engineering, the Arts and Mathematics.

The centre offers an Approved Kindergarten Program for children in the year prior to starting school. This is provided for at least 15 hours a week by a qualified early childhood teacher.

Health & nutrition

Health & nutrition

At Sanctuary Early Learning Adventure each child’s diverse and nutritional needs are catered for, with all meals cooked onsite daily by a qualified chef and provided as part of the fees. The menus are guided by the Nutritional Guidelines Australia, and in line with Eat Well Australia.

The educators make the most of meal and snack times to discuss food and produce with the children, and use vegetables grown at the centre in their cooking. Each meal time is seen as a time to come together as each room set the table and use real crockery, glasses and have the opportunity to pour their own water and serve their own food. Sanctuary Maudsland’s menus are thoroughly reviewed by Paediatric Dietitian and nutritionist Jodie Wilson from The Dietitian Studio.

Hi Amber, thank you so much for this beautiful feedback—it really means a lot to our Maudsland team. We love hearing how much you value the outdoor and creative play experiences. It’s such a big part of what makes our days feel like an adventure for the children 🌻 🥰And Tressa… we couldn’t agree more. Those little moments at drop-off and pick-up say everything, especially when they’re still too little to tell us in words. We’ll be sure to pass this on to her—she’ll absolutely love it 🙏🏻 We’re so grateful to be your little one’s second home while you’re at work. Thank you for choosing to be a part of our beautiful Sanctuary Maudsland family 💛

Sanctuary Maudsland is truly a hidden jem! From the moment you walk in, you're greeted by a warm and friendly team who clearly love what they do. The classrooms are beautifully designed and thoughtfully set up and the outdoor spaces are fab fun for the littlies. I really couldn't believe how fantastic the food was, Mandi does an awesome job in the kitchen. If you're looking for a place where your child will be nurtured, inspired and truly happy every single day, look no further. Highly recommend!!!
