We have had a fantastic experience with Timeout Westgarth this year. The staff are all very sweet and our daughter is clearly very happy spending the day there.

About Guardian Childcare & Education Westgarth

Welcome to Guardian Childcare & Education Westgarth. Our purpose-built child care centre within the inner-city Melbourne suburb of Northcote features seven beautifully designed learning spaces, two infant sleep rooms, six art rooms, a dining hall, a visual learning room and three libraries!

  • Guardian’s exclusive To BE Me program creates a unique learning adventure for every child. It demonstrates clearly how play connects to learning and development, offering families new insights and a lifelong record of these important years.
  • Nursery Rooms are our specialty. Our experienced Baby Ambassador and Nursery team take the time to really know your baby’s routines and personality, supporting them to feel safe and settled. Our Nursery rooms are calm, nurturing spaces that feel like a home away from home.
  • By focusing on Nutrition for Life, Guardian gives families peace of mind, knowing their children are developing habits that can set them up for a future of exposure to different foods, good eating patterns and healthy eating. Our qualified cook / chef provides 5 healthy foods every day from our in-house kitchen.
  • With a strong focus on safety and wellbeing, we’re proud to be a trusted choice for safe childcare.

The Victorian Government offers funding to provide families up to 15 hours of Free Kindergarten a week, in addition to the Childcare Subsidy. The funding offsets the fees for three and four-year-old children that are part of the centre’s long day care Kindergarten program. Families will save up to $2,101 a year for children aged three-years-old and above in eligible long day cares in 2026.

We’re proud to provide the best local childcare in Westgarth, where every child is supported to thrive. Book a tour today!

About the Curriculum

About the Curriculum

To BE Me is Guardian’s exclusive learning program specifically designed for each age and stage of your child’s early years.

The program includes resources and tools that support learning and make it easy to see your child’s progress along Learning and Development Pathways.

It groups your child’s learning into seven areas to help you see this progress clearly. Each of these areas has behaviours or skills that are generally linked to each age and stage.

Children receive their own My Learning and Development Book, which is updated regularly with their progress.

To BE Me is underpinned by Guardian’s world class teaching program that has been developed over many years of research and thousands of hours observing how children develop.

Health and Nutrition

Health and Nutrition

We believe in nutrition for life, supporting children to develop healthy eating habits from an early age. Qualified Chefs and Cooks in our centres create fresh and nutritious meals each day, using seasonal, high-quality ingredients that align with Australian Dietary Guidelines.

Meals are designed to be delicious, introduce children to diverse flavours, and make eating healthy food a positive experience.

Managing allergies and intolerances is part of how we keep mealtimes safe and enjoyable. Every child’s needs are carefully tracked, meals are supervised by permanent educators, and allergens are strictly controlled.

Beyond providing wholesome food, we use mealtimes as learning opportunities. Children practice independence by serving themselves and engaging in conversations about food, building confidence and understanding of healthy choices.

Parent communication and involvement

Parent communication and involvement

We believe open, consistent communication with families is essential to every child’s learning and wellbeing. Our team builds strong, lasting partnerships with each family at the centre.

Personalised ‘My Learning and Development’ books track each child’s milestones and observed behaviours, with opportunities for families to share at-home observations.

Our online Storypark platform shares snapshots of learning and progress when you’re not at the centre.

Learning Exchange Displays in each room show weekly plans, experiences, and focus areas.

At year’s end or school transition, we provide a personalised summary of your child’s learning and development.

Together, we celebrate achievements, support growth, and keep you connected to your child’s learning journey.

I would certainly try and get your little one into another center before considering this location. We had nothing but trouble with the staff and their complete lack of communication or responsiveness to any number of simple questions. Their admin is non existent and they have no understanding of what’s going on. Now it’s been taken over by Guardian you would hope it would improve but the experience we had was disgraceful so I would proceed with caution.
