About the Curriculum

About the Curriculum

“Let the child be the scriptwriter, director and the actor in their own play” - Magda Gerber

Nursery Space: 6 weeks – 2 years

Learning starts from before birth, and our Educators have created a welcoming and nurturing nursery environment where each baby feels safe to explore and discover new things - through their senses, their communication and cues (body language, facial expression and sounds) and through experimentation. On any given day you can see the nursery children engaging in all types of play including sensory play, music time, story time and more. Every day provides a brand new, exciting adventure for our babies to support their development, learning and wellbeing.

Toddler Space: 2 - 3 years

Our teachers and educators encourage the children to learn through play to help enhance their sensory-motor development. This happens through carefully planned music, dance, games, role playing and reading experiences.

On any given day the Toddlers can be seen developing their numeracy by building a tower, sorting objects, pointing and identifying shapes and patterns and participating in counting songs and games.

Children in our toddler space are encouraged to participate in group play. Group play is important as it helps our toddlers develop important social skills such as, turn-taking, developing self-confidence and emotional self-regulation. Our skilled team helps children through talking, planning and role modelling.

Preschool Space: 3 – 6 years

Preschool is a unique time for learning with peers and developing skills for later learning including confidence and curiosity, important skills for starting school. Our play-based program has school readiness at its core, encouraging active engagement in learning and supporting a range of positive developmental outcomes including resilience, independence, critical thinking and creativity.

The oral language supports literacy learning and a child’s oral language ability is the best predictor for later success in learning to read and write. Hearing the sounds within a language is the first critical step for all literacy learning. Our team supports our Preschool children's literacy development by engaging in rich discussions, reading, storytelling, dramatic play and experimentation all of which introduce new vocabulary as part of everyday conversations.

Throughout the Preschool year, children use their language to share ideas, ask questions, express themselves, and connect with peers and adults in social settings.

Social-emotional skills, including the ability to self-regulate emotions, are supported through group learning experiences. Our team supports each child’s social and emotional development by labelling and talking about emotions and supporting appropriate responses as together, they engage in new and challenging situations. Our goal in the Preschool year is to prepare children and families for a smooth transition to primary school.

Health and Nutrition

Health and Nutrition

Our centre chef prepares and cooks nutritious meals daily, catering to the unique dietary requirements of every child. We believe that by encouraging active participation (such as growing their own fruit and vegetables, preparing, and finally cooking!) children learn to appreciate and understand the importance of healthy eating across a wide variety of food.

Our centre offers seasonal whole food-based menus – created to delight the fussiest eaters.

This centre and the teachers have been godsent. both of my boys have attended in this centre. since my first son was 7 months and have now graduated and is in year 1, as the only African Australian child he was welcomed and never had issues with inclusion and support. My second son is also thriving and the fact that teachers take your request and wishes for your child education and development very seriously both my sons have excelled so much since concerns were raised and I very much appreciate your dedication to our kids

My child used to attend this childcare, I was always advised to drop off my child early. They said it was for educational purposes and to adjust for schooling and timings to prepare my son for kindergarten. A few times I dropped off my child later that 9am, the things I saw these educators doing to the children was very disappointing and upsetting. I’d seen them yanking a kid from his hands and pulling him roughly upwards while yelling at him. It was very rough and the child was very upset. Another incident that I had reported to child services, was when an autistic non verbal child who also attended this childcare centre, had been pulled from his arm from one side of the room to the other. The child was screaming and crying. It honestly broke my heart to see. I done what was necessary and reported the incident. I reported to the department of education. I had explained what had happened. They neglected the case and still let the childcare worker stay at the centre with no charge. They only advised her to attend courses that helped with managing stress at work. Which was greatly disappointing. I had also told the manager of the centre who also defended her worker, the manager said that the childcare worker was going through a tough time with her own personal and family issues at home. I responded with, that should not give her a good reason to be treating this kids the way she did. Especially a non verbal child, who can not tell his parents and even defend himself. I really thought the system would protect our children. I took my child out of that childcare. As soon as I saw all of this abuse. I could no longer trust this centre. I have nothing against this centre, other than how the staff treated the children. And how nothing has been done to protect the children who attend this centre for these children.

I recently toured First Grammar Bankstown and was really impressed. The staff were warm and welcoming, and you could tell they genuinely care about the kids. The rooms were clean, well-organized, and full of engaging activities. I loved how the educators took the time to explain their programs and how they support each child's learning and development. It felt like a safe, happy environment where children can really thrive. Definitely left with a great first impression!
