At Next Generation Kindergarten, our Preschool Program provides children with a strong foundation for a successful transition to school and a lifelong love of learning.

Our program goes beyond traditional school readiness. We recognise that being ready for school means developing the whole child—confidence, independence, resilience, communication, friendships, emotional wellbeing, curiosity and a positive attitude towards learning, alongside early literacy and numeracy skills.

Literacy & Language

Our preschool children participate in engaging literacy experiences that build strong foundations for reading and writing. Through stories, conversations, songs, rhymes, phonological awareness, letter and sound exploration, drawing and early writing, children develop confidence in communicating and expressing their ideas.

Numeracy & Mathematical Thinking

Mathematics is incorporated naturally throughout children's play and everyday experiences. Children explore counting, number recognition, patterns, shapes, measurement, sorting, comparing, problem-solving and early mathematical concepts through meaningful hands-on learning.

STEM & Inquiry Learning

We encourage children to ask “Why?”, “How?” and “What will happen if…?”

Through science experiments, construction, technology, nature investigations and long-term projects, children learn to predict, investigate, test ideas, solve problems and communicate their discoveries.

Our transition-to-school experiences support children to develop the practical and social skills they will need for kindergarten, including:

Play remains central to our Preschool Program. Our thoughtfully designed environments provide opportunities for children to create, imagine, construct, investigate, collaborate and make decisions about their learning.

Educators intentionally extend children's ideas through questioning, modelling, discussion and carefully planned experiences while ensuring children remain active participants in their learning.

Children's Voice & Leadership

We see children as capable learners and decision-makers. Preschool children are encouraged to share their ideas, make choices, contribute to projects, take on responsibilities and help shape their learning environment.

These opportunities develop confidence, agency, leadership and a strong sense of belonging.

Arabic Language & Cultural Learning

Our program celebrates language, culture and diversity. Children have opportunities to participate in Arabic language learning through songs, stories, conversations and interactive experiences, alongside experiences that recognise and celebrate the cultures represented within our community.

Wellbeing & Social-Emotional Development

We intentionally support children to recognise and communicate emotions, build positive friendships, develop resilience and learn strategies for managing challenges.

Mindfulness, movement, group discussions, collaborative experiences and everyday interactions help children develop the emotional and social skills needed for school and life.

Transition to School

We work closely with families throughout the preschool year to support each child's individual transition to primary school. Families receive ongoing information about their child's learning, development, strengths and progress.

Where appropriate, we also build connections with local schools and provide transition experiences that help children become familiar and confident about their next learning environment.

Child Safety & Wellbeing

At Next Generation Kindergarten, the safety, wellbeing and protection of every child is our highest priority. We are committed to providing a child-safe environment where every child feels secure, respected, valued and confident that their voice will be heard.

A Child-Safe Culture

Child safety is embedded throughout our everyday practices, policies, environments and decision-making. Our educators understand their responsibility to protect children from harm and to create environments where children’s rights, dignity, privacy and wellbeing are always respected.

We maintain clear child-safe policies, procedures and codes of conduct and provide ongoing training to ensure educators understand their responsibilities and remain vigilant in protecting children.

Safe & Supervised Environments

Our learning environments are carefully planned and regularly reviewed to support children’s safety while still allowing them to explore, play, develop independence and take appropriate challenges.

Educators maintain active supervision throughout the day, conduct regular safety and risk assessments, monitor indoor and outdoor environments and follow established procedures for arrivals, departures, excursions, emergencies and incidents.

Safe Recruitment & Professional Practice

Teaching Children About Personal Safety

Children are supported to understand their rights in developmentally appropriate ways. Through everyday conversations and educational experiences, we help children develop confidence to express their feelings, identify trusted adults, understand personal boundaries and seek help when something does not feel right.

Most importantly, children are encouraged to understand that their voice matters and adults will listen to them.

Online Safety & Digital Privacy

Children’s privacy and digital safety are taken seriously. We maintain clear procedures around photography, digital documentation, technology and the use of devices within our services.

Images and information about children are managed responsibly and only used in accordance with our policies, authorised purposes and family permissions.

Health, Hygiene & Emergency Preparedness

Our comprehensive approach to safety also includes effective hygiene and infection-control practices, safe food handling, allergy and medical-condition management, first aid procedures and emergency preparedness.

Educators regularly practise emergency procedures and review our systems to ensure we are prepared to respond effectively when required.

Working in Partnership With Families

Families play an important role in creating a strong culture of child safety. We maintain open communication with parents and carers and encourage families to raise questions, provide feedback or speak with management about any concerns.

At Next Generation Kindergarten, our programs are designed to inspire curiosity, build confidence and support every child to become an active and capable learner. Early Learning Program

Our Early Learning Program provides children with opportunities to explore, investigate, create and learn through play. Educators develop experiences based on children’s interests, strengths, abilities, cultures and emerging ideas, while supporting their social, emotional, physical, cognitive and communication development.

Preschool & School Readiness Program

Our comprehensive Preschool and School Readiness Program supports children to make a confident and positive transition to primary school. Children develop foundational literacy and numeracy skills alongside independence, resilience, communication, problem-solving, self-regulation and social confidence.

School readiness is embedded naturally throughout the day through play, group experiences, projects, intentional teaching and everyday routines.

Literacy & Numeracy

Children are introduced to early literacy and numeracy concepts through engaging, age-appropriate experiences. These include phonological awareness, letter and sound recognition, storytelling, early writing, counting, number recognition, patterns, measurement, shapes and mathematical problem-solving.

Arabic Language Program

Our Arabic Language Program provides children with opportunities to develop language skills while celebrating cultural identity and diversity. Through songs, stories, conversations and interactive experiences, children are introduced to Arabic language in an enjoyable and meaningful way.

STEM & Inquiry Learning

We encourage children to become researchers, thinkers and problem-solvers through Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics experiences. Children are encouraged to ask questions, make predictions, experiment, investigate and discover how the world around them works.

Wellbeing & Social-Emotional Learning

Children’s wellbeing is central to our curriculum. Our program incorporates opportunities for mindfulness, movement, emotional literacy, relationship building and self-regulation. Educators support children to recognise emotions, develop resilience, solve social problems and build positive relationships.

Sustainability & Nature Learning

Gardening, nature exploration, recycling, caring for living things and sustainable practices provide children with opportunities to develop respect and responsibility for their environment. Children are encouraged to become active participants in caring for their centre and wider community.

Cultural & Community Connections

Our program celebrates the diverse cultures, languages and traditions represented within our community. Children participate in cultural experiences, community projects, excursions, incursions and special events that strengthen their understanding of belonging, diversity and connection.

Before & After School Care

Our school-age care program provides a safe, welcoming and engaging environment before and after school. Children can relax, socialise, participate in creative and recreational experiences, and develop friendships in an environment that respects their growing independence and interests.

Vacation Care

Our Vacation Care Program makes school holidays exciting with a varied program of creative experiences, games, projects, incursions, excursions and special events. Programs are designed to provide school-aged children with opportunities to have fun, explore new interests and build friendships.
