Before enrolling our child, we also visited several large chain childcare centers. However, we were concerned about the high staff turnover at those bigger institutions. We were very fortunate to have found this place — the team here is truly wonderful, and the teachers are consistent and dedicated. My child was in the Joey Room, and I genuinely recommend it. When we have our second child, we’ll definitely be coming back here. :)

About the curriculum

About the curriculum

The educators at Waverley Kidz Children’s Centre understand that for children, the first eight years are fundamental in establishing core values, sense of identity, and self-worth.

They see parents and families as the first educator, and that their role is to work together in a collaborative and supportive way on a child’s learning journey.

The educational philosophies at the centre are based on the Reggio Emilia approach to learning which supports enquiry and play-based learning opportunities in natural and responsive environments. The learning programs are designed to be emergent in nature and guided by the children’s interests and needs.

The programs are further extended by the centre’s events calendar which includes a range of excursions, incursions, community events, and cultural celebrations throughout the year to facilitate an inclusive and holistic understanding of the wider world.

The centre’s learning programs are informed by both the National Early Years Learning Framework (EYLF) which is based on the fundamental belief that children’s lives are characterised as “Belonging, Being and Becoming”; and the

Victorian Early Years Learning and Development Framework (VEYLDF) which identifies five learning outcomes for children that the centre strives toward:

  • Children have a strong sense of identity (IDENTITY)
  • Children are connected with and contribute to their world (COMMUNITY)
  • Children have a strong sense of wellbeing (WELLBEING)
  • Children are confident and involved learners (LEARNING)
  • Children are effective communicators (COMMUNICATION)

There are four rooms at the centre:

  • Lambs - Nursery: 3 months - 2 years
  • Joeys - Toddlers: 2 years - 3 years
  • Kangaroos - Pre Kinder: 3 years - 4 years
  • Pandas - Kinder: 4 years - 5 years
Meet the team

Meet the team

I have a passion for children’s learning and development. I believe that supporting children’s emotional and cognitive development is important in their early years as it is the foundation of their future learning. The teacher plays a big role in helping the children gain confidence and become competent as they explore the environment. It is my goal that we as Educators will be able to capture your child’s magic moments as they discover their potential though reflective documentation.  We have a diverse range of qualified educators from different cultural backgrounds. Many of the educators are multilingual, speaking languages such as Mandarin, Korean and Hindi.

We are incredibly happy with our experience at the Waverley Kidz. The teachers have been consistently caring, patient, and dedicated—many of them have been with the centre for a long time, which gives us great confidence and comfort as parents. My daughter absolutely loves going to kindy every day. She talks about her teachers and friends at home with so much excitement, and we’ve seen her grow in confidence, independence, and communication since starting here. We truly appreciate the warm, nurturing environment and the effort the educators put into helping each child feel safe, valued, and supported. It really feels like a second home for our daughter.
