We cannot recommend Ku Lance Millers Point highly enough! Our daughter spent a month at the centre while we temporarily relocated to Sydney for work late-2024. It was a wonderful introduction to daycare for our daughter who had just turned one. The care she received was faultless and we could tell the staff really love what they do. This was so comforting to us as it was the time leaving her with anyone other than family. The team are absolutely amazing including the chef, Paula, who baked our daughter a farewell cake when she finished. We wish we could continue as a Ku Lance family and will always have happy memories of her time there, playing under the fig trees! Thank you Ewa, Terri, Wendy, Alfreda, Veronika, Paula and the whole exceptional team x

About KU Lance Children's Centre

Welcome to KU Lance Children's Centre!

In addition to the high-quality, well-rounded programs we offer at all KU centres, each centre is also encouraged to develop an area of interest.

At KU Lance, we have an ongoing commitment to sustainability and nature education. Our regular excursions to Barangaroo Headland Park allow children to explore natural environments and ‘wild places’. We also utilise natural items in our teaching and learning environments, as well as a kitchen garden and several pets, to assist children in caring for other living things with whom we share the planet.

Our belief in the benefits of Nature education for children’s wellbeing, resilience and cognitive function are well supported in research. As children learn about and within the natural world, they develop a stewardship of care and respect for the environment.

Centre philosophy

Centre philosophy

Childhood

We recognise childhood as a special time in itself; a time for all children to be immersed in secure and trusting environments that allow them to explore, play, discover and learn. We nurture the development of identity, confidence and capability which form the foundations of a lifelong love of learning. We ensure the voices of children contribute to the work that we do and the decisions we make.

Integrity & Relationships

We act with honesty, openness and consistency. Our relationships are respectful, mutual and reciprocal and are built on trust, authenticity and ethical behaviour. We welcome feedback and make decisions that are responsible and fair.

Leadership

We are driven by the passionate pursuit of quality early childhood education and encourage others to share that journey. We lead by example, drawing on our experience and knowledge to shape early childhood education thinking, policy and practice.

Innovation

We have the courage to pursue bold visions of the future. We are committed to continual professional learning and organisational development. We collaborate and explore new ideas and different ways of thinking.

Sustainability

We acknowledge and consider both our heritage and our future. We embrace our responsibilities within the world around us – to our children and communities, our people, our environments and the long term sustainability of our organisation.

Diversity & Inclusion

We recognise that everyone has their own culture, beliefs, values and strengths contributing to our rich and diverse community. We embrace, advocate for, and invest in the rights of all children to access and actively participate in our programs and have a sense of truly belonging.

About the curriculum

About the curriculum

The KU curriculum includes a mix of large and small group experiences that help to build the children’s leadership and communication skills. Through interactive and hands-on activities, the children develop a sense of their unique selves and a feeling of belonging.

The curriculum aligns with the Early Years Learning Framework and the preschool program helps to prepare the children for the transition to school. The educators invite participation, research, inquiry and exploration from the children so they can drive their own learning and develop important critical thinking skills.

What the parents say

Thank you for making the past two years a very enjoyable, memorable experience full of learning. We appreciated your time and effort in making Leo comfortable and happy. Your dedication to all the children is obvious and is what sets you apart from the average centre.

KU Lance parent

Two years on we caught up with some old friends from Lance. It was like they had never left each other. The friendships forged at KU Lance are still going strong, whatever magic you weave down there, it's worth every effort! Thank you!

KU Lance has really been a godsend for us! Small classes, engaging and caring educators combined with plenty of outdoor play have equaled a perfect combination for my son’s development. The centre is excellent at fostering each student’s unique interest and abilities. My son has been so happy there for the last 10 months - I hate to think about when it comes to school time actually. He loves playing with his friends who he regularly talks about, and I’m sure this is due to the empathic environment he’s in. He’s very comfortable to be himself and loves going there.

KU Lance has the best location and rich history, shaded by huge trees facing Sydney harbour, short walk to Barangaroo Park, it is the best position for children to go on excursion, play in a sun safe outdoor area to learn, explore and thrive. The educators are amazing, very friendly, kind and creative, most of them have been there for a long time, it gives children stabilities, security and the sense of safety. They encourage children to explore, be independent, take responsibilities, learning languages and celebrating various cultures. My daughter has been attending this Centre since 4 months old, she could clean up dishes after meals, share with other children, build great friendship, learn letters, alphabets, singing, painting, jumping, conversing, caring for plants and animals, etc.. and most importantly respect others. It is definitely an incredible environment to prepare young children to formal education and bright future.
