As a solo parent, reliable childcare isn’t just childcare — it’s a lifeline. Storyhouse Maitland has truly been a second set of hands for my family, and I’m incredibly grateful for the warmth, flexibility and genuine care they provide. What they do exceptionally well: • Low staff turnover & real relationships The team is consistent, which means children build strong, secure connections. That stability makes a huge difference. • They truly know the children Educators don’t just know names — they understand personalities, interests and how to support each child on both easy and challenging days. • Warm, nurturing environment You can feel the genuine care. Children are greeted with patience, kindness and respect, and it shows in their confidence and excitement to attend. • Above-and-beyond flexibility They’ve gone out of their way to accommodate casual days so I can maintain stable work. This level of support is rare and priceless for working parents. • Safety & trust There is complete assurance that children are safe, valued, and looked after emotionally, socially and physically. That peace of mind is everything. • Growth through play-based learning The progress in communication, independence and learning is clear and steady. Their approach feels intentional, balanced and child-led. • Outstanding outdoor space Real grass, big open areas, lots of activity stations — perfect for energetic kids who need to move, explore, build and create beyond just paint and paper. • Celebration of special days From cultural events to fun dress-ups and engaging learning activities, you can feel the sense of community they create. Areas for improvement (minor suggestions): • A simple end-of-year folder for artworks would help families keep and protect their children’s creations instead of loose papers in bags. • A more inclusive review of the “No Vax, No Play” policy would reflect the centre’s values of respect for individual family circumstances. Overall, Storyhouse Maitland is a caring, safe and supportive service that genuinely goes above and beyond for children and families. The educators love what they do, and it shows every day. 💛
