Safety

Safety

Safety matters every day.
Every day, safety comes first at Nido. Across all our early schools, we work tirelessly to uphold the highest standards in safety. This commitment underpins every decision we make and every interaction we have with children and families.

We have embedded the National Principles for Child Safe Organisations across all our practices to ensure safe behaviours, environments, and accountability are part of everything we do.

Strong supervision and ongoing training
All Educators participate in an 8-week active supervision program, along with regular training and safety alerts. This ensures teams are vigilant, responsive, and prepared for every situation.

Safe design, technology and electronic devices
Our early school layouts are designed for maximum visibility and supervision. CCTV is installed externally at most of our early schools to enhance security. For the protection of all children, the use of personal devices to take photos or videos of children is prohibited for all Nido team members, students, volunteers, and visitors.

Rigorous recruitment and compliance
Our recruitment process includes enhanced screening, comprehensive reference checks, and clear expectations around child safety. Working with Children Checks are strictly managed and continuously monitored.

Professional learning and guidance
Educators receive regular training through leading Registered Training Organisations. Policies and procedures are regularly reviewed and updated to reflect current legislation and best practice, ensuring everyone understands the behaviours and standards expected.

Comprehensive health and safety
We maintain secure single-point entry systems, and our staff are trained in first aid, asthma, anaphylaxis care, and food safety. We follow strict medication management protocols, a Cancer Council-accredited Sun Smart policy, and promote hygiene through engaging activities. Our schools take allergies seriously, including nut awareness, to help keep every child safe and included at mealtimes. Any incidents are documented and promptly communicated with families.

Parent communication and involvement

Parent communication and involvement

Nido Early School understands that no one knows a child like their family. The service actively engages with parents and family members to ensure children have the very best care.

The team works with family members at enrolment and also regularly seeks updates on children’s schedules and current interests. This helps them to develop tailored programs that meet individual educational, physical, cultural and emotional needs.

Parents are welcome to chat with staff at drop off and pick up, and to contact the team at any stage via phone, email or the service’s ‘Playground’ App. The service regularly sends updates on children’s progress, and photos and videos of children during play and learning activities.

With an ‘open door policy’, parents are welcome to join in activities and events, and to share breakfast with children at the popular breaky bar.

About the Curriculum

About the Curriculum

The curriculum at Nido Early School is inspired by the Reggio Emilia Approach and aligns with the Early Years Learning Framework. Designed to support the children in the early years and as they prepare for the transition to school, the curriculum is play-based and engaging.

The curriculum is delivered in three stages:

Nursery (6 weeks to 18 months)

In the nursery, the children are nurtured as they develop early connections with their educators. They read stories, play and explore the world around them.

The children start to develop their sense of identity and understand that they are part of a broader community. They start to explore their feelings and emotions and also try new things. Developing early communication skills, both verbal and non-verbal is also a big focus for the children in this age group.

Toddlers (18 months to 3 years)

The educators encourage the toddlers to develop their independence and autonomy. They have opportunities to build their social skills and early friendships while also learning to regulate their emotions.

As the children take safe risks in their learning, the educators also encourage their problem solving skills. Self-expression and communication are also important.

Kindergarten (3 years to school)

The Kindergarten curriculum helps to prepare the children for the big transition to big school. The children have a strong sense of self and understand their role in the community. They participate in peer activities and understand their own emotions.

They are always questioning how things work and practising their verbal and listening skills as strong communicators.

Our daughter started at Nido Riverton when she was one year old, and it was her very first daycare. Thanks to the wonderful support, care, and encouragement from her educators, she settled in quickly and adapted well to the new environment. We have watched her grow into a confident, independent, and happy little girl. She always comes home excited to share the fun activities, new skills she has learned, and special moments she experienced at Nido. We are truly grateful to all the educators for their kindness, patience, and dedication. It brings us so much joy to see our daughter growing up in such a loving, nurturing, and supportive environment.

My niece has been attending Nido Riverton since she was one year old, and we are so happy to see how much she has grown. She has developed valuable life skills and become more independent every day. Every time I pick her up, she is happy, engaged, and busy enjoying her play. She loves sharing the new nursery rhymes and songs that she learns from her educators, which is always a joy to hear. We truly appreciate the care, support and love shown by all of her educators. Thank you for creating such a warm, nurturing, and inspiring environment for her to learn and grow.

*⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐* _Nido Early School benar-benar bagus buat mengenalkan anak mencintai alam sejak dini. 2 Cucu kami masuk level toddler dan nursery, yang di suka, mereka tidak pakai ceramah. Anak-anak diajak main sensory play, siram tanaman, kasih makan ikan, pegang daun asli. Recommended banget buat orang tua yang mau anaknya tumbuh peduli lingkungan sejak kecil_ 🌱 --- *Here’s the English version* ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐: --- _Nido Early School is excellent for introducing young children to nature from an early age. My grandchilds is in the toddler and nursery program, and I love that they don’t rely on lectures. The kids learn through sensory play, watering plants, feeding fish, and touching real leaves. It builds love for nature through hands-on experience._ _Their ecology curriculum is well-structured by age group. Ages 0-2 focus on biophilia, while 3-5 year olds learn about cycles and the 3R’s through stories and small experiments. The art activities also connect well, like dry leaf collages and making toys from recycled cardboard._ _The classroom atmosphere and interior are also designed to suit the child’s age. The teachers are patient and clearly understand child development. The place is clean, safe, and has plenty of outdoor space. Highly recommended for parents who want their kids to grow up caring for the environment_ 🌱
