How many days should I work when my child starts childcare?

There’s no perfect number of days to work when returning to work after having a child. Some parents start with two or three days, others return closer to full-time, and some build up gradually once childcare routines feel more settled. The right number depends on your work, childcare availability, finances, family support, your child’s needs and what feels manageable for you. Your first plan doesn’t need to be permanent. Many families adjust their work days once they understand what their new routine feels like in real life.
