Welcome to Sparrow Early Learning Tarneit! We provide education and care for children aged from 6 weeks to 5 years old in a warm, home-like setting designed to be a continuation of children’s familiar home learning environments.
Inspired by Reggio Emilia philosophy and guided by the Early Years Learning Framework, our educators provide a holistic, play-based curriculum with a strong emphasis on nature and outdoor learning experiences. We celebrate each child as unique and our dedicated educators focus programming on meeting the individual needs and interests of each child.
Indoor learning spaces feel just like home and are filled with materials and resources that come straight from nature and everyday life. Activities are largely open-ended to allow children to follow their interests, use their imagination and stimulate social interactions with their peers and educators.
Engaging outdoor spaces provide further opportunities for imaginative and collaborative play with children enjoying the inviting play spaces with sandpits, climbing equipment, under the protection of large shade sails.

Meet Poonam-Service Manager at Sparrow Early Learning Tarneit
My name is Poonam, and I started my career as an early childhood educator in 2013. I held various roles in this journey while working my way up to a Service Manager.
My beliefs about quality childcare align closely with Sparrow’s educational philosophy and The Sparrow Way, believing that all children have an inherent ability to learn. Our role is to create supportive, enriched learning environments where learning will take place out of a natural curiosity, sparked through play.
Alongside me is a dedicated team of passionate educators, many who are parents themselves. Our team is highly skilled and bring with a wealth of knowledge from years of experience in childcare and other related fields.
I welcome your feedback, sharing of ideas and encourage your involvement for continual improvements within the Service. I am dedicated on focusing on meeting the needs of our families, the greater community.

The Sparrow curriculum is thoughtfully planned by our educators and shaped by the Early Years Learning Framework (EYLF). Being guided by the EYLF and National Quality Standards (NQS) ensures we offer high quality learning programs that are responsive to children’s ideas, interests, strengths and abilities.
Programs are play-based, child-driven and inspired by the Reggio Emilia approach with a strong emphasis on nature and outdoor learning experiences. Educators carefully design environments that stimulate curiosity and provide opportunities for hands-on learning experiences that are reflective of real life.
Play is viewed as a powerful tool for children to explore, discover and make meaning of the world around them. Activities are largely open-ended, providing a wide variety of natural resources and materials which stimulate imagination and foster creativity, problem-solving and meaningful interactions with friends and educators.
Children are encouraged to express themselves through various mediums, such as art, music and dramatic play, allowing them to develop a deep sense of autonomy, confidence and joy in their learning journey.
The Sparrow team values the role of families as children’s most important teachers and our educators foster positive and collaborative relationships with families. Parents are encouraged to contribute their ideas for programming, learning activities and the overall operation of the service.
Our inclusive open-door policy welcomes parents to visit our service, engage in discussions with educators and participate in children's learning. Our educators maintain open and continuous communication with families, ensuring a strong connection between the children's home learning environment and their educational experiences at the centre. During pick-up and drop-off times, educators are readily available to engage with families and gladly share insights into the children's progress, well-being and participation.
The use of the Storypark communication app provides daily updates, photos, and videos, fostering regular connections between educators and families. Parents also receive frequent communication through emails, newsletters, displays, notices, information evenings, special events, and Facebook.
Sparrow Early Learning centres provide high quality kindergarten/preschool programs led by qualified Early Childhood Teachers. While the curriculum remains play-based, these programs follow a more structured approach to teaching and learning experiences to prepare children for transitioning into a primary school environment. There is a careful balance maintained between child-led and teacher-led learning activities.
Our Early Childhood Teachers cater to the individual needs of each child and in collaboration with parents, ensure that children are adequately equipped with the skills and experience required for a smooth transition to “big school”. Ongoing assessment of children’s progress and development is carefully documented and communicated with families and transition statements can be shared with future schools to facilitate a smooth transition to school.
Attending kindergarten/preschool at their familiar Sparrow Early Learning centre makes the transition from the long day care setting less intimidating and children can continue their early learning journey in a safe and familiar environment, surrounded by friends and familiar educators. It also means families can enjoy the flexibility of extended care hours and continued care during school holiday periods. All meals and snacks are provided, adding to the convenience for busy families.

The educators are wonderful and take great care of the kids. They create individual plans based on each child’s needs, helping them feel comfortable and settle in at their own pace. Overall, we’ve had a great experience and would highly recommend Sparrow to anyone looking for a caring and supportive environment for their child.

A Wonderful Daycare Experience<br><br>We are so happy with our experience at this daycare. After transferring our little one from another daycare, we were initially a little nervous about how she would adjust to a new environment. But she settled in so easily and quickly, which has been such a relief for us as parents.<br><br>The centre is always clean, calm and welcoming, and the atmosphere feels very positive and peaceful. What stands out the most, though, is the care and warmth shown by the educators. They are attentive, kind and genuinely caring towards the children.<br><br>A special thank you to Pawandeep, Anjali, Poonam, Christine, Jasprit and Pallavi for the wonderful care and support you give our little one. We truly appreciate everything you do for her each day. And my sincere apologies if I have missed mentioning anyone by name — our thanks and appreciation extend to the entire team, because every educator and staff member contributes to making the centre such a lovely place for the children.<br><br>One of the best signs for us is seeing how happy she is at pick-up time. Knowing that she has had a good day and is comfortable in her surroundings gives us so much reassurance.<br><br>The timely updates on the app are also greatly appreciated. Seeing what she has been doing throughout the day and receiving regular updates makes us feel relaxed and reassured that she is being carefully looked after, even when we are away from her.<br><br>Thank you to the whole team for making her transition so smooth and for creating an environment where she feels safe, happy and cared for. This center is really good and focuses on individual child's needs. The educators are so warm and welcoming especially Vinny, Anita and Naman. Our child has grown in confidence and loves the fun activities. Communication via the app is wonderful, and we always feel secure leaving our little one here. Highly recommend to local families!
