Best daycare around my area. I went to a lot of daycare when I wanted to enrol my child but Eden stood out the most. The staff is very much accommodating and polite. They listen to my needs and make sure to create an inclusive environment for my daughter. I am blessed to have them closer to my house and I recommend them to every parent especially first timers.

About Eden Academy Newton

Welcome to our Newton Childcare and Kindergarten

Enter the Eden Academy Newton Childcare Centre to be instantly welcomed by our attentive staff who strive to make Eden Academy your home away from home.

We are a brand-new centre (opened June 2021), offering educational care between 7am-6pm, weekdays. We are open 52 weeks throughout the year, only closing on public holidays.

We are located on Gorge Road, not too far from the beautiful Thorndon Park, and conveniently located near many primary schools, including, Thorndon Park Primary, Athlestone Primary, Stradbroke Primary, Paradise Primary and Campbelltown Primary, all within a 2km radius. Being next to Thorndon Park it allows us to provide the children with a fabulous space for our bush kindy program.

Our 112 place centre offers dedicated spaces for Babies, Toddlers and Preschool, meaning your child will receive an age appropriate educational experience which fosters growth and belonging for all children.

Children are presented with new experiences through self and guided play and participate in our many weekly physical and educational programs.

Our highly qualified staff include Bachelor of Early Teaching educators leading our approved Kindergarten program and Diploma and Certificate qualified educators in each room to ensure your child has the best possible start to their early education. We also offer a specialized vocal program - encouraging children in their diction, rhyming, voice control, confidence and stage presence.

Children will feel engaged and inspired by the natural play spaces inside, as well as challenged and energised by the outdoors environment. Come and meet our chickens and see how our children are encouraged to be responsible contributors to their environment.

Programs

Programs

At Eden Academy Newton, families are encouraged to share their culture, traditions and festivities with Educators so that they can become part of the program for future learning experiences.

Some of the current programs include:

School Readiness program: this includes visits to the local schools, numeracy, literacy, science and discussions around what to expect at school.

Incursions and excursions: based on the children’s interests with visits such as music, sport and animal visits. Children also head out the gates once a week for their weekly Bush Kindy program in Thorndon Park.

Yoga program: children learn self-regulation techniques as well as gross and fine motor skills, while they are having fun.

Cooking and gardening: the children have the opportunity to experience cooking with the Centre Cook and special gardening projects with the Centre Gardeners.

Pet care: the children help take care of the centre pets, including chickens. This encourages children to develop a great sense of responsibility and empathy; two integral elements of social and emotional development.

About the curriculum

About the curriculum

Nursery 1

The Nursery 1 room caters for the youngest children at the Centre. This room is focused on building trust with infants and families. Educators focus on providing a calm, homely environment where infants have time to explore their surroundings with support and guidance from caring educators. There is a barefoot policy in this room to support children’s development in gross motor skills, also to prevent dirt and germs entering their crawling spaces.

Nursery 2

This room is for older walking babies. Children are able to explore the newfound experience of walking freely and safely. Children in this room will discover a program full of developmental focused learning experiences including art and craft, construction, story time, music and movement and pretend play.

Toddlers

The Toddler Room offers a safe learning environment for toddlers to fulfill their need to explore and discover. Toileting can occur in this room and is supported with the family, making sure there is continuity between home and the Centre. Toddlers are supported in choosing activities and learning how to use their resources.

Junior Kindy

In the Junior Kindy children will begin to develop their independence skills, this will be shown through the children putting their own belongings away such as bags, drink bottles and hats. Children’s interests will be supported in the programming and set up of the room. In this room educators will continue to support toileting, along with the support of the family, making sure there is continuity between home and the Centre. Staff will also support families when children are transitioning from sleep to rest.

Senior Kindy

In the Senior Kindy Room children will start to grow in confidence and independence. Children are supported in taking ownership of their learning and exploring their interests and expressing their ideas. There is a balance of children choosing their experiences and intentional teaching experiences. Children are encouraged to explore their ideas and interests and are guided by an Early Childhood Teacher and experienced Educators.

Pre-School

The Pre-School Room has a pre-school program offered by an Early Childhood Teacher. Children will be encouraged to develop their self-help skills and further their independence to help them to transition to the school environment. Educators look at developing self-help skills in toileting independently, being able to monitor temperature (such as removing their jumper and putting on their shoes and socks) as well as being able to follow instructions. The pre-school program involves providing an environment rich in literacy and numeracy experiences, where children can discover at their own pace and interest.

Health & nutrition

Health & nutrition

The seasonal menu of nutritious meals and snacks was created with a nutritionist and is prepared for the children by the on-site chef.  All staff members hold the ‘I’m alert’ food safety certificate and have first aid training.

The centre understands the needs of busy families, which is why they regularly offer a take home meal to parents. There is also complimentary morning tea for parents to enjoy as part of the morning drop off.

Children at the centre can enjoy breakfast, morning tea, lunch, afternoon tea and a late snack. There’s cereal and toast for breakfast; veggie packed bolognese, fried rice or chicken pasta bake for lunch; fruit platters, muffins and scrolls for snacks. Children are also given opportunities to develop their cooking skills through interactive classes with the centre chef on a weekly basis.

Another centre that needs to be investigated and shutdown. One blonde woman is probably the devil in disguise. Dropped my daughter off one morning and decided to stay and play for 15mins, caught her rolling her eyes at my decision. Once Kate left, this place fell apart. Stay away at all costs.

My child was attending Eden Newton from junior kindy to kindy room. Overall experience at this centre was unsatisfactory tbh. Toileting schedule need improvement, often I had to changed my child nappy at the changing room because was soaking wet or soiled. When my child moved to prekindy I asked staff to toilet my child every three hour, they agreed but often my child had accident. They even complaint that my child urinated on the floor and suggest to use nappy instead. They don’t do handover to other staff about the children. When I picked up my child I asked staff about meals, sleep, etc and often they have no idea because educators incharge was leaving. Outdoor supervision need to be improved, instead of just sitting and holding ipad to snapshot children playing, educators need to engage with them and do active supervision so incident can be minimised. I see lots of changes with staff and management. Hopefully getting better now 🙏
