If I could give Great Beginnings Kenwick more than five stars, I would. My son Kye who is 3 has grown so much since starting here. His confidence and speech have improved massively, and I'm so prot of how far he's come with toileting. He is super smart for his age i get told everytime from people, I honestly couldn't have done this without the support from Great Beginnings Kenwick. A huge thank you to Keisha, Madison, Kellie, Jonathan and Angela. Theres more of you but these are just to name a few, You are all amazing and I'm so grateful for the care and encouragement you give Kye every day. Special thanks to Jules and Anna for always squeezing my boy in when I've needed extra days. That support has meant everything to me. And loving each of these kids at the centre like its there own children. You both do such an amazing job and should be so proud of yourselfs for what you do for the centre. This centre feels safe, warm and supportive, and I always feel confident leaving Kye in their care. I'm beyond thankful for this team and couldn't recommend Great Beginnings Kenwick highly enough. Kind regards, Taliah

About the Curriculum

About the Curriculum

“Let the child be the scriptwriter, director and the actor in their own play” - Magda Gerber

Nursery Space: 6 weeks – 2 years

Learning starts from before birth, and our Educators have created a welcoming and nurturing nursery environment where each baby feels safe to explore and discover new things - through their senses, their communication and cues (body language, facial expression and sounds) and through experimentation. On any given day you can see the nursery children engaging in all types of play including sensory play, music time, story time and more. Every day provides a brand new, exciting adventure for our babies to support their development, learning and wellbeing.

Toddler Space: 2 - 3 years

Our teachers and educators encourage the children to learn through play to help enhance their sensory-motor development. This happens through carefully planned music, dance, games, role playing and reading experiences.

On any given day the Toddlers can be seen developing their numeracy by building a tower, sorting objects, pointing and identifying shapes and patterns and participating in counting songs and games.

Children in our toddler space are encouraged to participate in group play. Group play is important as it helps our toddlers develop important social skills such as, turn-taking, developing self-confidence and emotional self-regulation. Our skilled team helps children through talking, planning and role modelling.

Kindergarten Space: 3 – 6 years

Kindergarten is a unique time for learning with peers and developing skills for later learning including confidence and curiosity, important skills for starting school. Our play-based program has school readiness at its core, encouraging active engagement in learning and supporting a range of positive developmental outcomes including resilience, independence, critical thinking and creativity.

The oral language supports literacy learning and a child’s oral language ability is the best predictor for later success in learning to read and write. Hearing the sounds within a language is the first critical step for all literacy learning. Our team supports our Kindergarten children's literacy development by engaging in rich discussions, reading, storytelling, dramatic play and experimentation all of which introduce new vocabulary as part of everyday conversations.

Throughout the Kindergarten year, children use their language to share ideas, ask questions, express themselves, and connect with peers and adults in social settings.

Social-emotional skills, including the ability to self-regulate emotions, are supported through group learning experiences. Our team supports each child’s social and emotional development by labelling and talking about emotions and supporting appropriate responses as together, they engage in new and challenging situations. Our goal in the Kindergarten year is to prepare children and families for a smooth transition to primary school.

Health and Nutrition

Health and Nutrition

Our centre chef prepares and cooks nutritious meals daily, catering to the unique dietary requirements of every child. We believe that by encouraging active participation (such as growing their own fruit and vegetables, preparing, and finally cooking!) children learn to appreciate and understand the importance of healthy eating across a wide variety of food.

Our centre offers seasonal whole food-based menus – created to delight the fussiest eaters.

Meet the team

Meet the team

Hi my name is Julie, and I am the Centre Manager here at Great Beginnings Kenwick. I started working in early learning in 1996. I have been working in Great Beginnings Kenwick since 2014. I hold a Diploma in Children's Services.

From a very young age I knew I wanted to work with Children and to be a part of their learning journey. The biggest thing that I have learnt throughout my career has to be that growth and development comes from collaboration with others. At our centre, our team work together to set the foundations for positive relationship and safe spaces.

My approach to learning has always been a two fold process that encompasses positive learning spaces that encourage wonder in children, while also providing a safe space. I firmly believe in consistently mentoring and supporting my team members in order to deliver high-quality education and care.

The Team here at Great beginnings Kenwick is a long-standing, well-established team who are dedicated to creating positive outcomes for all children in a comfortable, play-based learning environment.

To build a basis of trust and security, our team will liaise with families during orientations and the enrolment process to make sure that we are in the best position to support each child and their family as they commence their early learning journey.

Our experience with Great Beginnings Kenwick has been nothing short of exceptional. The staff consistently go above and beyond—not just in caring for the children, but in supporting families through every season. Their genuine compassion and dedication shine through in everything they do. They lead with heart, expertise, and an unwavering commitment to each child’s development. Their approach is thoughtful, nurturing, and deeply personalised. I’ve seen incredible growth in my child—not just academically, but emotionally and socially. Her confidence has blossomed, her curiosity is thriving, and her learning has accelerated with their input. The educators have a gift for recognising each child’s strengths and gently guiding them to reach their full potential. During challenging times, they’ve been a steady, supportive presence. What sets them apart is the sense of community they foster—it truly feels like a family, not just a childcare service. We’re incredibly grateful to be part of this centre.

If I could give more than 5 stars, I would. Our little one started here a few months ago, and the centre has gone above and beyond to help us settle in. The educators take such good care of baby and think of the little things that make kids happy. Each and every staff member always has a smile for us. We can see the centre is being managed so well hence the staff are happy and in turn they keep the kids happy!
