About Goodstart Early Learning Deer Park

We’re your local not-for-profit early learning centre, built on Wurundjeri land and proudly rated Exceeding in all seven areas of the NQS, reflecting our commitment to exceptional education and care. Our dedicated educators create a safe, welcoming, and inclusive environment where children can grow, learn, and thrive. We enrol children aged six weeks to five years across our nursery, toddler, and kindergarten spaces.

Conveniently located on the corner of Ballarat Road and Station Road, just minutes from Deer Park Train Station and nearby schools, our centre is a trusted hub for families who value strong relationships, cultural diversity, and quality early education. With four age-specific rooms and a passionate, experienced team—many with 5–10 years at the centre—we provide stability, continuity, and meaningful learning experiences that prepare children for school and beyond. We invite you to tour our service and experience the difference firsthand.

Our centre offers age-based learning environments with smooth transitions, led by qualified educators including seven Early Childhood Teachers, with two leading our kindergarten programs. Curriculum and programs

Curriculum and programs

The educators at Goodstart Early Learning follow an evidence-based curriculum that aligns with the Early Years Learning Framework. Informed by world-leading research, practices and techniques, the curriculum encourages the children’s natural curiosity and engages them in their learning journey.

As the children move through the different rooms in the centre, the curriculum evolves with them. The educators set goals for the children and celebrate as they reach their milestones. At every stage, the educators are tailoring the curriculum and goals to each child’s individual needs.

The curriculum involves different types of learning experiences and styles. From child-led learning to sessions guided by educators, the children participate in small and large group sessions as well as individual play. Most importantly, the children learn through play, developing social skills, confidence and independence in addition to more formal academic skills.

Parent communication and involvement

Parent communication and involvement

Goodstart Early Learning uses the StoryPark app to connect with parents throughout the day. The educators upload photos and stories to the secure app, which parents can access anytime and anywhere to track their child’s progress.

The approach at the centre is very much based around partnership between families and educators. The educators work with the parents and carers to build strong relationships. They develop trust so the children can feel safe and secure while at the centre. Parents are also encouraged to share their insights and feedback with educators to add depth to the relationship.

The educators observe the children every day and tailor the program around their observations. They share these with parents, so they can feel connected to their child’s progress and also provide feedback that will further enhance their child’s learning experience.

Meet the team

Meet the team

Goodstart Early Learning employs qualified and skilled educators who are dedicated to making a difference to the children in their care. The centre employs people who are empathetic and compassionate, with a nurturing disposition and a passion for care. Working collaboratively as a team, the educators display qualities such as positivity, kindness and, most importantly, a desire to help every child thrive.

The educators hold relevant qualifications, including the Kindergarten and Preschool Program teachers who are university qualified. The educators are lifelong learners, participating in regular and ongoing professional development to enhance their skills. They are encouraged to upskill, learning about the latest research and thinking in the sector. They can then bring this knowledge back to the centre to share with their colleagues for the benefit of the children.

We’ve been part of this centre since my child started in nursery about 2.5 years ago, and it’s been such a positive experience. The centre director and assistant director are approachable and genuinely care about the children’s wellbeing and development. Any time I’ve had a question or concern, they’ve made time to listen and help.

The educators are lovely too. They’re warm and attentive, and it’s clear they care about each child’s wellbeing, not just their day to day needs but their growth and confidence over time. Luca has felt safe and supported since day one, and that consistency has meant a lot to us as a family.

I’m so grateful for the care this centre has given Luca over the past two and a half years. Highly recommend to any family looking for a centre that truly puts children first.

My daughter had a wonderful time here. She was well cared for and made good friends and memories. She's off to school now and the graduation ceremony was definitely a lovely experience. Thank you for putting that all together for the little ones.

I am very disappointed with this school. The way the teachers and management handle situations is extremely unsatisfactory. Communication is poor, and my concerns as a parent have not been taken seriously. I expected a much higher standard of care and professionalism.

We had the wonderful opportunity to work with Goodstart Deer Park in their 3 & 4-Year-Old Kinder rooms this year. The team was warm, supportive, and welcoming, with Director Julie and Assistant Director Jazmine showing incredible initiative in introducing our program to their centre. The Kinder educators were equally supportive and played a key role in helping us deliver our sessions successfully. Fabulous to work with! 💕
