Great Beginning Childcare has been great for both our kids. Our son is currently in the nursery room and I can’t thank Mai enough for how great she’s been with him. He’s always soo happy when I pick him up and enjoys going there. Our daughter has been there for a couple years now and it’s been nothing but a positive experience.

About the Curriculum

About the Curriculum

“Let the child be the scriptwriter, director and the actor in their own play” - Magda Gerber

Nursery Space: 6 weeks – 2 years

Learning starts from before birth, and our Educators have created a welcoming and nurturing nursery environment where each baby feels safe to explore and discover new things - through their senses, their communication and cues (body language, facial expression and sounds) and through experimentation. On any given day you can see the nursery children engaging in all types of play including sensory play, music time, story time and more. Every day provides a brand new, exciting adventure for our babies to support their development, learning and wellbeing.

Toddler Space: 2 - 3 years

Our teachers and educators encourage the children to learn through play to help enhance their sensory-motor development. This happens through carefully planned music, dance, games, role playing and reading experiences.

On any given day the Toddlers can be seen developing their numeracy by building a tower, sorting objects, pointing and identifying shapes and patterns and participating in counting songs and games.

Children in our toddler space are encouraged to participate in group play. Group play is important as it helps our toddlers develop important social skills such as, turn-taking, developing self-confidence and emotional self-regulation. Our skilled team helps children through talking, planning and role modelling.

Kindergarten Space: 3 – 6 years

Kindergarten is a unique time for learning with peers and developing skills for later learning including confidence and curiosity, important skills for starting school. Our play-based program has school readiness at its core, encouraging active engagement in learning and supporting a range of positive developmental outcomes including resilience, independence, critical thinking and creativity.

The oral language supports literacy learning and a child’s oral language ability is the best predictor for later success in learning to read and write. Hearing the sounds within a language is the first critical step for all literacy learning. Our team supports our Kindergarten children's literacy development by engaging in rich discussions, reading, storytelling, dramatic play and experimentation all of which introduce new vocabulary as part of everyday conversations.

Throughout the Kindergarten year, children use their language to share ideas, ask questions, express themselves, and connect with peers and adults in social settings.

Social-emotional skills, including the ability to self-regulate emotions, are supported through group learning experiences. Our team supports each child’s social and emotional development by labelling and talking about emotions and supporting appropriate responses as together, they engage in new and challenging situations. Our goal in the kindergarten year is to prepare children and families for a smooth transition to primary school.

Health and Nutrition

Health and Nutrition

Our centre chef prepares and cooks nutritious meals daily, catering to the unique dietary requirements of every child. We believe that by encouraging active participation (such as growing their own fruit and vegetables, preparing, and finally cooking!) children learn to appreciate and understand the importance of healthy eating across a wide variety of food.

Our centre offers seasonal whole food-based menus – created to delight the fussiest eaters.

Meet the team

Meet the team

My name is Priya and I am the Centre Manager. My career in early learning started in 2006. I joined Great Beginnings Epping in 2024. I hold a Diploma in Children's Service and am currently working towards a Bachelor of Education.

I have been in the early childhood industry for over 20 years, first as a teacher in Fiji and then as an early childhood professional in Australia. My early childhood journey taught me that children can lead their learning. We, as educators, need to acknowledge and support it.

My teaching practices are inspired by the Reggio Emilia approach. I believe children learn through play and being engaged in an inquiry-based environment. Our job is to facilitate these environments and scaffold their learning. Children have amazing imagination and creativity. As teachers, we are given the privilege to foster and contribute towards their positive learning dispositions and confident self-identities.

A dedicated early childhood setting enables a child to form strong social relationships, negotiate roles and become a confident learner. It provides a platform to get them ready for school and community participation. That's our goal here in Great Beginnings Epping.

We have an experienced team here who are dedicated to delivering the best outcomes for children. We build strong relationships with families through open and honest communication, acknowledging diversity, listening to families’ concerns and valuing their opinions.

We look forward to welcoming you at Great Beginnings Epping!

My daughter has been attending at the centre since she was 7months. We have had so many positive experiences with them and now our second is in the nursery. Mai and Michelle have been so good as well as Nirasha and Jaina in the toddler room.

We are extremely happy with our experience at this childcare centre. When we were looking for a childcare for our son, my husband was very particular and took a lot of time to make sure we chose the right place for him. We are so glad that we found this centre.

Although the location is in the opposite direction from my usual route to work, we decided that it was absolutely worth it because our son loves coming here. Seeing him so happy and excited to go to childcare makes us feel that we made the right decision. ❤️

All of the educators are kind, friendly and caring, and they provide our son with wonderful and dedicated care. We would especially like to thank his two main educators in Toddler 1, Neenu and Maria. They are both incredibly attentive, patient and caring towards our son.

They always take the time to update us about his day, including the activities he has participated in, how he is feeling, how he interacts with the other children and how he is progressing. We really appreciate these updates because they help us feel connected to his day and give us great reassurance that he is happy, safe and well cared for.

A heartfelt thank you to Neenu, Maria and the whole team for the kindness, dedication and care you show our little boy every day. We truly appreciate everything you do for him. ❤️

We feel incredibly lucky and grateful to have found such a beautiful childcare for our little boy. ❤️

Our son joined the centre in May and is in Toddler 1. From the very beginning, he has absolutely loved coming here. Even though he has to wake up very early every morning, he gets so excited when I say, “It’s time to go to childcare!” He is always smiling, laughing and happily getting ready to go. As a mum, there is no greater feeling than knowing your child is genuinely happy and excited to go to childcare.

He usually arrives around 6:30 a.m., and sometimes even earlier, but the wonderful educators in Toddler 1 always welcome him with warm smiles, kindness and so much care. Their patience, love and genuine affection towards the children mean so much to us.

Since starting here, we have seen our little boy grow in so many beautiful ways. He is becoming more confident, independent and social, and it is heartwarming to see how comfortable and happy he feels in his room. We truly feel that he is not just being cared for, but being loved, supported and encouraged every day.
We are truly thankful for every little thing you do for him. You have become such an important part of his little world, and we couldn’t be more grateful.
