About the Curriculum

About the Curriculum

“Let the child be the scriptwriter, director and the actor in their own play” - Magda Gerber

Nursery Space: 6 weeks – 2 years

Learning starts from before birth, and our Educators have created a welcoming and nurturing nursery environment where each baby feels safe to explore and discover new things - through their senses, their communication and cues (body language, facial expression and sounds) and through experimentation. On any given day you can see the nursery children engaging in all types of play including sensory play, music time, story time and more. Every day provides a brand new, exciting adventure for our babies to support their development, learning and wellbeing.

Toddler Space: 2 - 3 years

Our teachers and educators encourage the children to learn through play to help enhance their sensory-motor development. This happens through carefully planned music, dance, games, role playing and reading experiences.

On any given day the Toddlers can be seen developing their numeracy by building a tower, sorting objects, pointing and identifying shapes and patterns and participating in counting songs and games.

Children in our toddler space are encouraged to participate in group play. Group play is important as it helps our toddlers develop important social skills such as, turn-taking, developing self-confidence and emotional self-regulation. Our skilled team helps children through talking, planning and role modelling.

Kindergarten Space: 3 – 6 years

Kindergarten is a unique time for learning with peers and developing skills for later learning including confidence and curiosity, important skills for starting school. Our play-based program has school readiness at its core, encouraging active engagement in learning and supporting a range of positive developmental outcomes including resilience, independence, critical thinking and creativity.

The oral language supports literacy learning and a child’s oral language ability is the best predictor for later success in learning to read and write. Hearing the sounds within a language is the first critical step for all literacy learning. Our team supports our Kindergarten children's literacy development by engaging in rich discussions, reading, storytelling, dramatic play and experimentation all of which introduce new vocabulary as part of everyday conversations.

Throughout the Kindergarten year, children use their language to share ideas, ask questions, express themselves, and connect with peers and adults in social settings.

Social-emotional skills, including the ability to self-regulate emotions, are supported through group learning experiences. Our team supports each child’s social and emotional development by labelling and talking about emotions and su pporting appropriate responses as together, they engage in new and challenging situations. Our goal in the kindergarten year is to prepare children and families for a smooth transition to primary school.

Health and Nutrition

Health and Nutrition

Our centre chef prepares and cooks nutritious meals daily, catering to the unique dietary requirements of every child. We believe that by encouraging active participation (such as growing their own fruit and vegetables, preparing, and finally cooking!) children learn to appreciate and understand the importance of healthy eating across a wide variety of food.

Our centre offers seasonal whole food-based menus – created to delight the fussiest eaters.

Meet the team

Meet the team

Hi, my name is Hiny, and I am the Centre Manager here at Great Beginnings Brookfield. My goal is to support children to develop important skills while also building their confidence, curiosity and belief in their own abilities.

I have been working in early childhood education since 2006 and joined Great Beginnings Brookfield in 2015. Over the years, I have held several roles, including Room Leader, Educational Leader and Assistant Centre Manager before becoming Centre Manager.

I was inspired to work in early childhood education because I enjoy supporting young children as they learn and grow. I believe the early years are very important in shaping a child’s development. What I enjoy most about this field is seeing children build confidence, learn new skills and express their creativity in a safe and supportive environment. It is very rewarding to know that I can play a small part in their growth and learning.

Through my experience, I have learned that every child is unique and develops at their own pace. When children feel respected and understood, they are more confident to engage in learning experiences. My approach focuses on creating a supportive, inclusive and play-based learning environment where every child feels valued. My goal is to support children to develop important skills while also building their confidence, curiosity and belief in their own abilities.

When speaking with families, I explain that early childhood education provides children with opportunities to learn and develop across language, social, physical and cognitive areas. Through play-based learning and interactions with other children, they build skills such as communication, cooperation and sharing while exploring their interests.

I am proud to work with a dedicated and collaborative team where each educator brings their own strengths and perspectives. We communicate openly and work closely together to support the children and families in our care. Our centre also has a very stable team, with many educators having been part of the service for more than three years.

Building strong relationships with families is very important to me. I support families by communicating clearly, listening to their perspectives and offering guidance where needed. By involving families in their child’s learning journey and celebrating their progress together, we create strong partnerships that support every child’s development.

We honestly couldn’t be happier with our experience at Brookfield Early Learning Centre. As parents, leaving your children in someone else’s care can be such an emotional and difficult thing to do, but from the moment our two daughters started at Brookfield, we have felt so reassured knowing they are surrounded by people who genuinely care about them.

Our girls have been treated with so much love, kindness, patience and respect. They are not just seen as children who attend the centre — the educators have taken the time to get to know them as individuals, understand their personalities and make them feel safe, valued and cared for. Seeing how happy our girls are when they arrive and hearing about their day when they come home means the absolute world to us.

The educators are truly amazing. You can see how much they genuinely care about the children, and they go above and beyond every day. We are so grateful for the relationships they have built with our daughters and for all the little things they do that may seem small, but mean so much to us as parents.

We also want to give a huge thank you to the centre managers. They have always been so welcoming, approachable and supportive. We have never felt like just another family at the centre. They take the time to listen, communicate with us and make us feel comfortable knowing that our girls are in good hands.

As a mum, there is no greater feeling than knowing your children are somewhere they are genuinely loved, respected, happy and safe. Brookfield has given us that peace of mind, and we couldn’t be more grateful.

A massive thank you to every educator and member of the management team for everything you do for our girls. The care and love you show them does not go unnoticed, and we appreciate you more than you know. ❤️

We are so grateful to be part of the Brookfield Early Learning Centre family and would highly recommend the centre to anyone looking for a place where their children will truly be cared for.

My son has been at Great Beginnings Brookfield for almost 4 years and we haven’t had anything but love and passion given to him. He loves going and we can see that he is getting so much out of their programs in the way of learning and his social/emotional development.
The staff are incredible with very little turnover which has made his transitions through each room a breeze. Management are fantastic and easy to approach with any concerns or questions. We couldn’t be happier!
10/10 recommend
