Such a wonderful childcare, filled with love and light. The staff are amazing and kind, I felt super comfortable with how nurturing the educators were with my daughter as we explored the centre on orientation day, since then her transition into this particular childcare has been so easy and surprisingly fun. Both my daughter & I have only become more secure with how we feel at pelican fairways. For a mum who’s started work so suddenly after 3 years of being a sahm it’s been nothing but a smooth process. My daughter has already made friends within the first day she’s started and loves her educators so much she constantly asks when she’ll see them again at the end of the day. She’s learnt how to communicate, socialise, and more. I’m updated through writing, pictures and videos every time she eats, sleeps, goes for toilet breaks, how she’s doing, what she’s doing etc. it almost feels like I’m with her while I’m at work. I love that I’m given constant reminders of what my daughter will be upto for the week. I’m happy with my decision of trusting my daughter be in the care of pelican fairways. I prefer this centre than the one that’s right next door to my house. Love love love.

About the Curriculum

About the Curriculum

“Let the child be the scriptwriter, director and the actor in their own play” - Magda Gerber

Nursery Space: 6 weeks – 2 years

Learning starts from before birth, and our Educators have created a welcoming and nurturing nursery environment where each baby feels safe to explore and discover new things - through their senses, their communication and cues (body language, facial expression and sounds) and through experimentation. On any given day you can see the nursery children engaging in all types of play including sensory play, music time, story time and more. Every day provides a brand new, exciting adventure for our babies to support their development, learning and wellbeing.

Toddler Space: 2 - 3 years

Our teachers and educators encourage the children to learn through play to help enhance their sensory-motor development. This happens through carefully planned music, dance, games, role playing and reading experiences.

On any given day the Toddlers can be seen developing their numeracy by building a tower, sorting objects, pointing and identifying shapes and patterns and participating in counting songs and games.

Children in our toddler space are encouraged to participate in group play. Group play is important as it helps our toddlers develop important social skills such as, turn-taking, developing self-confidence and emotional self-regulation. Our skilled team helps children through talking, planning and role modelling.

Kindergarten Space: 3 – 6 years

Kindergarten is a unique time for learning with peers and developing skills for later learning including confidence and curiosity, important skills for starting school. Our play-based program has school readiness at its core, encouraging active engagement in learning and supporting a range of positive developmental outcomes including resilience, independence, critical thinking and creativity.

The oral language supports literacy learning and a child’s oral language ability is the best predictor for later success in learning to read and write. Hearing the sounds within a language is the first critical step for all literacy learning. Our team supports our Kindergarten children's literacy development by engaging in rich discussions, reading, storytelling, dramatic play and experimentation all of which introduce new vocabulary as part of everyday conversations.

Throughout the Kindergarten year, children use their language to share ideas, ask questions, express themselves, and connect with peers and adults in social settings.

Social-emotional skills, including the ability to self-regulate emotions, are supported through group learning experiences. Our team supports each child’s social and emotional development by labelling and talking about emotions and supporting appropriate responses as together, they engage in new and challenging situations. Our goal in the Kindergarten year is to prepare children and families for a smooth transition to primary school.

Health and Nutrition

Health and Nutrition

Our centre chef prepares and cooks nutritious meals daily, catering to the unique dietary requirements of every child. We believe that by encouraging active participation (such as growing their own fruit and vegetables, preparing, and finally cooking!) children learn to appreciate and understand the importance of healthy eating across a wide variety of food.

Our centre offers seasonal whole food-based menus – created to delight the fussiest eaters.

Hi, I'm Carol, the Centre Manager at Pelican Childcare Fairways. I started working in early learning in 2015. I began my early learning years at Pelican Newbury and then had the opportunity to join Pelican Fairways in April 2022. I am Diploma Qualified with a Working with Children Check and a First Aid Certificate.

In my career, I implemented different learning strategies through play-based learning to foster children’s confidence and assist children in their future learning. I have built many relationships with children and families over the years who have left with footprints of memories that I could never forget.

Every child is unique and has different learning styles. However, I believe that the best learning in the first five years should come from play. A play-based learning environment encourages children to socialise and communicate, and it creates plenty of opportunities to build on their fine motor skills and physical motor skills to prepare them for school and beyond. At Pelican Fairways, we guide children’s learning with positive interactions with educators and their peers to keep them motivated. We encourage children to discover their own interests and strength and create individual learning goals based on each child’s progress.

Our educators at Pelican Fairways are respectful, empathetic, encouraging, and dedicated to providing the best possible care and education for our children. We come from different cultural backgrounds, and we incorporate everyone’s cultures into our daily practice.

I build relationships with families by providing regular updates and honest communication. I would greet the families face to face and have personal interaction to get to know families and children. We are open to feedback and love to support families wherever we can.

Here’s a polished version of your review: “I highly recommend Fairway Child Care. The educators are amazing, and one of them, Ljubica stands out as one of my son’s favorite educators. Every time I visit, she greets me with a warm smile and is always so cheerful. Over the last two and a half years that my son has been attending, I have never seen her complain or get upset. Her positive attitude creates a wonderful learning environment for the children, and my son absolutely loves going there. He has made lots of friends, and the staff is very professional. Thank you for all your hard work!”
