Safety

Safety

Safety matters every day.
Every day, safety comes first at Nido. Across all our early schools, we work tirelessly to uphold the highest standards in safety. This commitment underpins every decision we make and every interaction we have with children and families.

We have embedded the National Principles for Child Safe Organisations across all our practices to ensure safe behaviours, environments, and accountability are part of everything we do.

Strong supervision and ongoing training
All Educators participate in an 8-week active supervision program, along with regular training and safety alerts. This ensures teams are vigilant, responsive, and prepared for every situation.

Safe design, technology and electronic devices
Our early school layouts are designed for maximum visibility and supervision. CCTV is installed externally at most of our early schools to enhance security. For the protection of all children, the use of personal devices to take photos or videos of children is prohibited for all Nido team members, students, volunteers, and visitors.

Rigorous recruitment and compliance
Our recruitment process includes enhanced screening, comprehensive reference checks, and clear expectations around child safety. Working with Children Checks are strictly managed and continuously monitored.

Professional learning and guidance
Educators receive regular training through leading Registered Training Organisations. Policies and procedures are regularly reviewed and updated to reflect current legislation and best practice, ensuring everyone understands the behaviours and standards expected.

Comprehensive health and safety
We maintain secure single-point entry systems, and our staff are trained in first aid, asthma, anaphylaxis care, and food safety. We follow strict medication management protocols, a Cancer Council-accredited Sun Smart policy, and promote hygiene through engaging activities. Our schools take allergies seriously, including nut awareness, to help keep every child safe and included at mealtimes. Any incidents are documented and promptly communicated with families.

Parent communication and involvement

Parent communication and involvement

Nido Early School understands that no one knows a child like their family. The service actively engages with parents and family members to ensure children have the very best care.

The team works with family members at enrolment and also regularly seeks updates on children’s schedules and current interests. This helps them to develop tailored programs that meet individual educational, physical, cultural and emotional needs.

Parents are welcome to chat with staff at drop off and pick up, and to contact the team at any stage via phone, email or the service’s ‘Playground’ App. The service regularly sends updates on children’s progress, and photos and videos of children during play and learning activities.

With an ‘open door policy’, parents are welcome to join in activities and events, and to share breakfast with children at the popular breaky bar.

About the curriculum

About the curriculum

The curriculum at Nido Early School is inspired by the Reggio Emilia Approach and aligns with the Early Years Learning Framework. Designed to support the children in the early years and as they prepare for the transition to school, the curriculum is play-based and engaging.

The curriculum is delivered in three stages:

Nursery (6 weeks to 18 months)

In the nursery, the children are nurtured as they develop early connections with their educators. They read stories, play and explore the world around them.

The children start to develop their sense of identity and understand that they are part of a broader community. They start to explore their feelings and emotions and also try new things. Developing early communication skills, both verbal and non-verbal is also a big focus for the children in this age group.

Toddlers (18 months to 3 years)

The educators encourage the toddlers to develop their independence and autonomy. They have opportunities to build their social skills and early friendships while also learning to regulate their emotions.

As the children take safe risks in their learning, the educators also encourage their problem solving skills. Self-expression and communication are also important.

Kindergarten (3 years to school)

The Kindergarten curriculum helps to prepare the children for the big transition to big school. The children have a strong sense of self and understand their role in the community. They participate in peer activities and understand their own emotions.

They are always questioning how things work and practising their verbal and listening skills as strong communicators.

From the very first open day, I knew this centre was something special. Our family has now been part of it for years. Our eldest attended from the toddler room until he started school, and our youngest has been here from the very first room and will finish up at the end of this year. Looking back, I truly can’t imagine a better place for them to have grown.

What makes this centre so incredible isn’t just the beautiful environment or the amazing programs...it’s the people. Every single educator has shown our children so much love, patience and genuine care. You can see how passionate they are about what they do, and they never make you feel like you’re just another family walking through the doors. They build real relationships, not only with the children but with their parents too.

Rachel is an incredible manager who has created such a warm, welcoming and supportive environment. Hannah is always the first smiling face you see at reception and somehow brightens every single day. Jess, the Curriculum Leader, constantly comes up with the most creative and engaging ideas for the children, and it’s obvious how much thought goes into everything she does.

Hayley, the chef, deserves a special mention too. She is absolutely amazing, especially when it comes to accommodating dietary requirements. Knowing your children are being so well looked after, right down to their meals, gives such peace of mind.

Grace always brings so much warmth, kindness and laughter, you can’t help but smile around her. Areej has one of the biggest hearts I’ve ever seen and genuinely loves the children as if they were her own. The care she gives is something truly special. Jade has had such a positive impact on our youngest. She has taught her so much, helped build her confidence, and has become someone she absolutely adores and looks up to. My daughter was so ready to start school and is thriving all thanks to the educators and their amazing efforts in teaching.

The biggest compliment I can give is that I have never once worried about leaving my children here. I always knew they were safe, loved, encouraged and celebrated for exactly who they are. Watching them learn, grow and flourish over the years has been such a privilege, and so much of that is thanks to the incredible team. Any worry or concern is dealt with so quickly and with care. All of the Educators are incredible and I could say amazing things about every single one but I would be here all day!!!

To every educator and staff member—thank you. Thank you for the cuddles, the encouragement, the patience, the laughs, the messy play, the celebrations, and for loving our children so wholeheartedly. The impact you’ve had on our family will stay with us forever.

If you’re looking for a childcare centre where your children will be genuinely loved, supported and inspired every single day, I honestly couldn’t recommend this team more highly. Worth every single penny. Love The Oldham's x

My grandchildren attend Nido Brabham and it’s such a welcoming environment. I’ve been blessed to attend Father’s Day celebrations at the centre and even when I just go in to pick up my grandchildren I see how happy and content they are with all the staff. Picking up 3 littles at one time is a little hectic especially when it’s not something you do everyday but every-time I’ve needed to grab my grandchildren the staff are incredible they ensure all the children have their shoes on and bags packed which is super helpful with three excited grandchildren. Thanks Nido Brabham for all your hard work and looking after my grandchildren :)

Would highly recommend Nido Brabham, we tried a few services in the area before starting at Nido, but none of them felt like the right fit for our family. I was struggling to get my nephew to want to go to daycare before going to Nido but now he wakes up and is ready to leave the house before anyone else is ready. Starting at Nido didn’t just better the children’s life it’s also helped us build an amazing community. We are grateful for the amazing team and all the hard work they put into the service.
