About the Curriculum

About the Curriculum

“Let the child be the scriptwriter, director and the actor in their own play” - Magda Gerber

Nursery Space: 6 weeks – 2 years

Learning starts from before birth, and our Educators have created a welcoming and nurturing nursery environment where each baby feels safe to explore and discover new things - through their senses, their communication and cues (body language, facial expression and sounds) and through experimentation. On any given day you can see the nursery children engaging in all types of play including sensory play, music time, story time and more. Every day provides a brand new, exciting adventure for our babies to support their development, learning and wellbeing.

Toddler Space: 2 - 3 years

Our teachers and educators encourage the children to learn through play to help enhance their sensory-motor development. This happens through carefully planned music, dance, games, role playing and reading experiences.

On any given day the Toddlers can be seen developing their numeracy by building a tower, sorting objects, pointing and identifying shapes and patterns and participating in counting songs and games.

Children in our toddler space are encouraged to participate in group play. Group play is important as it helps our toddlers develop important social skills such as, turn-taking, developing self-confidence and emotional self-regulation. Our skilled team helps children through talking, planning and role modelling.

Preschool Space: 3 – 6 years

Preschool is a unique time for learning with peers and developing skills for later learning including confidence and curiosity, important skills for starting school. Our play-based program has school readiness at its core, encouraging active engagement in learning and supporting a range of positive developmental outcomes including resilience, independence, critical thinking and creativity.

The oral language supports literacy learning and a child’s oral language ability is the best predictor for later success in learning to read and write. Hearing the sounds within a language is the first critical step for all literacy learning. Our team supports our Preschool children's literacy development by engaging in rich discussions, reading, storytelling, dramatic play and experimentation all of which introduce new vocabulary as part of everyday conversations.

Throughout the Preschool year, children use their language to share ideas, ask questions, express themselves, and connect with peers and adults in social settings.

Social-emotional skills, including the ability to self-regulate emotions, are supported through group learning experiences. Our team supports each child’s social and emotional development by labelling and talking about emotions and supporting appropriate responses as together, they engage in new and challenging situations. Our goal in the Preschool year is to prepare children and families for a smooth transition to primary school.

Health and Nutrition

Health and Nutrition

Our centre chef prepares and cooks nutritious meals daily, catering to the unique dietary requirements of every child. We believe that by encouraging active participation (such as growing their own fruit and vegetables, preparing, and finally cooking!) children learn to appreciate and understand the importance of healthy eating across a wide variety of food.

Our centre offers seasonal whole food-based menus – created to delight the fussiest eaters.

Hi my name is Hanan, and I am the Centre Manager here at Community Kids Bass Hill. My career in early learning started in 2016. I started working at Community Kids Bass Hill in 2018. I hold a Diploma of Early Childhood Education and am currently working towards my Bachelor of Education.

I chose a career in early learning because I love being around children and I enjoy supporting children with their education and development. I learned from this career that children are naturally curious and inquisitive, and as an educator, it is my job to create meaningful play-based experiences that children can make the most of.

High quality early childhood education gives children the best start in life. It provides important opportunities to learn and develop. A dedicated early learning environment helps your child make friends, develop independence, and learn new routines. It also supports their transition to school.

We have a wonderful team here at Community Kid Bass Hill, with each educator dedicated to their roles and committed to providing high-quality education and care for children. We approach our relationship with families with respect and support them wherever we can. We communicate regularly with families about the centre events and their children’s learning progress.

I welcome you to drop in any time to find out more about our great centre and meet our friendly and caring educators.

I cannot speak highly enough of this childcare centre and the incredible educators who work there. Miss Elina is truly one of the most caring and dedicated teachers I have ever met. She goes above and beyond for my child every single day, and it is clear that she genuinely cares for all of the children as if they were her own. She always takes the time to make sure both my child and I feel supported, heard, and happy. The positive impact she has had on my child has been amazing, and my children are constantly talking about how much they love and enjoy spending time with her. Miss Hanadi has also been absolutely wonderful. She has helped my child learn and develop so many new skills, and I have seen such growth and confidence because of her patience, encouragement, and dedication. She creates a positive learning environment where children feel safe, valued, and excited to learn. I would also like to acknowledge the manager, Hanan. She is incredibly understanding, approachable, and supportive. She genuinely listens to families and always does her best to help whenever needed. Her leadership is reflected in the caring atmosphere throughout the centre. What stands out most about these three women is their work ethic and dedication. I have never seen anyone work harder than Miss Elina, Miss Hanadi, and Hanan. No matter how busy the day gets, they are always giving their absolute best, putting the children first, and making families feel welcomed and supported. The love, effort, and care they pour into their work does not go unnoticed. Miss Elina, Miss Hanadi, and Hanan are truly exceptional. They have exceeded every expectation I had when choosing a childcare service for my children. Their kindness, professionalism, and commitment to the children make them stand out, and I am so grateful for everything they do. They are an absolute credit to the centre, and I cannot thank them enough. Any family would be lucky to have educators like them caring for their children.

I couldn’t be happier with the care and support my son receives at this centre. The staff are warm, nurturing and attentive towards my child. They make me feel reassured that my son is in a safe and positive environment every time he is there. I’ve noticed lots of growth in his confidence and social skills since starting. All the staff and educators do an outstanding job everyday, especially his educators Miss Maureen, Miss Mai and Miss Jizelle. I highly recommend this childcare centre to any parent looking for a caring, professional, and enriching environment for their child.
