Highly recommended centre, my 2 children have loved it and thrived there. I have positive experiences with all staff members from management to educators to the (extremely talented and helpful) cook.

About Great Beginnings Orange

We offer nurturing care and quality early education for children from 6 weeks to 6 years, with flexible hours (9, 10, 11, and 12-hour sessions) to suit busy families.

Our Learning Environments

Our children benefit from familiar faces as they grow, creating a sense of continuity:

  • Nursery (0-2 years): A safe, nurturing environment for babies to explore with tailored sensory and social experiences.
  • Toddler (2-3 years): Play-based learning encourages curiosity, confidence, and social skills.
  • Preschool (3-6 years): A stimulating learning environment that prepares our children for school through our Enhanced Learning Program.

We’re proud to have qualified teachers and educators, ensuring high quality childcare and early education.

Innovative Early Learning Programs

Our teachers deliver the Early Years Learning Framework (EYLF or the national curriculum) through play-based learning that covers language, literacy, numeracy, STEM, social, and emotional development. Our program also includes:

  • Rhythm and Movement for Self-Regulation (RAMSR), an evidence-based program developed by Queensland University of Technology to support children’s executive function and self-regulation.
  • Environmental and social sustainability learning experiences. We have a range of Centre pets that the children have watched grow and help us care for.
  • Personalised learning plans for each child (Individual learning Plans) that you can access at any time and we build on as they transition rooms.

We prioritise clear and consistent communication with families to foster a strong partnership in supporting each child’s development. We ensure families feel informed, involved, and confident in their child’s early learning journey. Our families love hearing about their child’s progress and the experiences they’re having day to day. We share these moments through centre newsletters, our Xplor App, one-on-one meetings, and at various centre events.

Health and Nutrition

Health and Nutrition

We have created a 6 week menu that includes a cultural dish from all our children, families and staff's cultural backgrounds. We cater to all allergies and dietary requirements. We get the children involved in cooking in regular cooking experiences.

Programs

Programs

We have an extra curricular rooms in our Centre to extend the childrens learning. It is a space where the children can engage in physical activity even when the weather is not great outside. We have a trampoline, stepping stones, sensory cushions and much more avaliable inside to keep the children active. We have yoga mats which we use to complete yoga classes with the children. We have a large smartboard set up to extend the childrens learning. We use RAMSR Rhythm and Music for Self Regulation in this space to help the children with their self regulation and grow their love of music and movement.

Parent communication and involvement

Parent communication and involvement

We use an online app called Xplor that offers real time updates about your child's health such as what they have eaten and when, their nappy changes and sleeps. We provide a summary of the day with photos of the children. We share our individual observations of the children with you using Xplor and you can also access our indoor and outdoor program on here as well. This app is where you sign your child in and out, where you can request extra days, put in absent requests and manage finances as well. Any communication from educators or the manager also comes through here. Everything you need all in one place.

Sick beginnings. My child was enrolled for 11 months and was not sick for 5 weeks of that time. I quit my job as it didn’t make sense to go to work sick everyday and pay this place for that privilege. Staff is hit and miss, chef is superb. Also the kids are taught woke ideology if that bothers you, heads up.

Update 2: Note that all the new five star reviews are from new Google accounts. Update: Apparently we are meant to pay these fees out of thin air. Newsflash guys, if parents can't pay you, you can't pay your staff. Whether picking up an hour early or five hours early, there are no contingency plans here for if you are not able to drop everything and pick your child up at the drop of a hat. Hours and days of lost work through this preschool not being bothered enough to try different methods are ones we won't get back and my options were to immediately cancel or be unemployed. When I pointed out my loss of money to Bek, she smiled. I wouldn't want someone with that attitude leading a horse to water, never mind a team of young childhood educators. I would never, EVER recommend sending a child here. And with childcare spaces in Orange being as they are, that's saying something. Original: Our child was put on a behaviour plan after an incident. Fine, not excusing their behaviour. This is not something we see at home but understandably this is a different environment. We're happy to work alongside for the most part. Even though the pick-up time is conveniently when they were being sent home "sick" multiple times a month a while back and I correlated it to when staff were finishing. Zero acknowledgement about staff allowing multiple children to figuratively dogpile our child on arrival every morning. Living with only one other child in a fairly quiet house, it's not hard to see how this would be overstimulating. There are simple grammatical errors in paperwork supposedly overseen by an area manager too. These people are supposed to be preparing our children for school, surely they should be checking something that they want us to sign. Yes, I could complain by email... An email that leads to the umbrella company and eventually goes nowhere.

Hi Katherine, Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback. We’re sorry to hear that your experience with our centre has not met your expectations. Supporting each child’s needs and working closely with families is very important to us, and we understand how important consistency and clear communication are. We would like to continue this conversation directly so we can work through your concerns in more detail and ensure the best outcomes for your child and family. If you're willing to discuss further, please reach out to our Centre Manager who will be supporting your family, or we can arrange a time that works best for you to meet again with our leadership team. We appreciate your feedback and remain committed to supporting your child’s learning and wellbeing. Kind regards, The Great Beginnings Team

If I could give zero stars, I would. I trusted this centre with my daughter, believing she would be kept safe and that has proven to be a huge mistake!
