About Kindalin Early Childhood Learning Centre - Castle Hill

Kindalin Castle Hill is a child care centre for children aged up to 5 years. With four spacious rooms, the children are kept busy with fun and inclusive activities. The centre is open from 7:30 am - 6:30 pm and has been running since 2008.

Outside in the three rooftop playgrounds, the children enjoy the sandpits, obstacle courses and shady spaces for free play. There’s even a water misting system to keep everyone cool on a warm day. Sustainability is a focus at this centre, and the children love to lend a hand with the vegetable garden.

With over 30 years of experience, Kindalin aims to provide every child with a stimulating and challenging environment in which to grow and learn. The provision of an open learning environment and exploratory creative programs enhance each child’s individuality and ability to develop to their full potential.

The Kindalin philosophy and curriculum are based on years of experience and up-to-date early childhood research which recognises the importance of children’s active, hands on involvement in their learning.

Ideal for commuting parents, the centre is located near Windsor Road with easy access to the M2. On-site parking is available for parents.

At Kindalin, children are cared for in an environment that is both stimulating and challenging. The seven core beliefs of the centre’s philosophy are:

  • Partnerships between the children, families and educators.
  • Environments should be both positive and nurturing, seeing children as individuals who are competent and capable learners.
  • Active Learning is encouraged as children explore their surroundings and interact with others.
  • Family support is offered where parents take an active role in their child’s programming. All cultures are celebrated and valued.
  • Community involvement is encouraged, visiting and engaging with other groups and spaces within the local area.
  • Team Culture where educators are respected individually as well as working within a professional group that encourages development and reflection.
  • Sustainability as part of the culture and curriculum, to teach children to learn and respect the environment.

About the curriculum

About the curriculum

Babies use their senses to begin to investigate their environment. As they get older, they start to show more interest in moving objects, colourful mobiles and gentle movement with an educator. Older babies become reliant on the familiar adults that care for them. They become more inquisitive about how the world works and will interact with other children or objects in their space.

Coffee Drinker

May, 2025

I recently did a tour of this centre and had a few observations that left me unsure. I noticed several prams being used inside the baby room, and during the visit, I saw 2–3 babies or toddlers sleeping in prams in the cot room. It didn’t appear that they were being transitioned to a cot or bed. I’m not sure if this is a standard or acceptable practice, but as a parent, I personally wouldn’t feel comfortable with my child spending long periods of time in a pram indoors. I’d recommend other parents ask about sleep arrangements during their visit to see if it aligns with what they’re comfortable with.

Response from the owner 23 May 2025

Dear Coffee Drinker, Thank you for taking the time to share your observations following your recent visit. To clarify, prams have not been used in our rooms for several months. The last time prams were present in any capacity was during January and February of this year, and only as part of our approved orientation practices. During that time, they were used briefly to support individual children during their settling period—providing comfort, a sense of personal space, and a familiar environment. This was always done with parental knowledge and never for long-term sleep or behaviour management. Our Sleep, Rest, Relaxation & Clothing Policy outlines that prams are not intended for sleep and are only used as short-term settling tools when necessary and appropriate. All rest and sleep routines at Kindalin follow recognised safe sleep guidelines, and our Educators are trained to support children’s emotional and developmental needs in line with these practices. This week, we conducted three centre tours—including one in the Possum Playroom (our nursery), where no prams were present. Visitors are not taken into the cot room during tours, so it’s possible there may have been some confusion or misinterpretation. We respect all feedback and understand that every family has their own expectations and preferences when it comes to early learning. Kindalin remains committed to transparency and to providing high-quality, individualised care to every child in accordance with our established policies. Should you wish to clarify anything further or revisit our service, our Centre Director at Castle Hill would be more than happy to speak with you directly. Many Thanks Kindalin
