Curriculum and programs

Curriculum and programs

The educators at Goodstart Early Learning follow an evidence-based curriculum that aligns with the Early Years Learning Framework. Informed by world-leading research, practices and techniques, the curriculum encourages the children’s natural curiosity and engages them in their learning journey.

As the children move through the different rooms in the centre, the curriculum evolves with them. The educators set goals for the children and celebrate as they reach their milestones. At every stage, the educators are tailoring the curriculum and goals to each child’s individual needs.

The curriculum involves different types of learning experiences and styles. From child-led learning to sessions guided by educators, the children participate in small and large group sessions as well as individual play. Most importantly, the children learn through play, developing social skills, confidence and independence in addition to more formal academic skills.

Parent communication and involvement

Parent communication and involvement

Goodstart Early Learning uses the StoryPark app to connect with parents throughout the day. The educators upload photos and stories to the secure app, which parents can access anytime and anywhere to track their child’s progress.

The approach at the centre is very much based around partnership between families and educators. The educators work with the parents and carers to build strong relationships. They develop trust so the children can feel safe and secure while at the centre. Parents are also encouraged to share their insights and feedback with educators to add depth to the relationship.

The educators observe the children every day and tailor the program around their observations. They share these with parents, so they can feel connected to their child’s progress and also provide feedback that will further enhance their child’s learning experience.

I could not recommend Goodstart Early Learning Carlisle highly enough. My child was diagnosed with Type 1 diabetes at just 10 months old, which was an incredibly challenging and overwhelming time for our family. I often felt as though I was losing myself and my sense of identity while trying to navigate the complexities of his diagnosis and care. After experiencing several rejections from other daycare centres that were unwilling to take on the responsibility of caring for a child with complex medical needs, Goodstart Early Learning Carlisle was the only centre willing to support both my child and our family. The care, compassion, and ongoing support they have shown us has been truly invaluable. The team works collaboratively with us to ensure my child feels supported, empowered, and encouraged within a safe and inclusive environment alongside his peers. Without Goodstart Early Learning Carlisle, I honestly do not know where we would be today. We are forever grateful for the dedication, kindness, and professionalism of the entire team.

Terrible communication with staff. Made it extremely clear of what I wanted for my children and it was not taken into consideration. Constant bite marks on both my children with no explanations. When raising my concerns was told my communication was poor when I have told them constantly to call their father or their father’s partner if I do not answer. I would not recommend.

Cannot recommend the Carlilse Goodstart enough. The educators are lovely and consistent - very low staff turnover. The team are fabulous and know all the families by first name. Have been beyond satisfied with our care - very personalised and the team remember what it is that each kid loves and how to make them feel comfortable. Childcare is such a difficult decision but you won’t regret this one. Have had our child there for 2 years from the nursery into the toddler room. Very multicultural child group and great focus on outside play for busy toddlers!
