My children have been attending Basma's Family Daycare for approximately 2 years. She has a created a safe and nurturing environment that has helped them both to thrive and has enabled my oldest to transition to Kindy with ease. She goes above and beyond for children and their parents and has really become part of our "village" in raising our children. I highly recommend her for anyone looking for a safe and loving environment for their kids.

Basma has been caring for our children for a total of 9 years so far. My daughter started with Basma at 4 months old and then my son started from a similar age. Our family has benefited so much from Basma’s care - she fosters connection, healthy behaviour development and she creates a positive learning environment for different ages and stages. Basma also went above and beyond for our family, supporting us while our son went through 2 years of cancer treatment in to remission. His care inevitably required extra precautions and rigour during this period, which Basma handled like a boss. Our son could not have been in safer hands - his health was protected, he was always happy and he built strong friendships with his little day care family that wouldn’t have been possible without Basma. She has a special place in our family and I will always recommend her family day care to others!

I am a parent and we have been with Basma Family daycare for almost 2 years, we have really loved every minute of it. Basma is so warm and caring with our children, and such a great communicator, as well as educator (as parents we all love that)! I always have peace of mind knowing my children are happy and content in her care. So many great activities are on offer whether it be indoors or outdoors there is always such a variety of fantastic learning and opportunity. Our children just love it and look forward to going each time. It’s been really lovely having Basmas support and care, she loves seeing our children grow and develop which is really special for us all. Definitely would recommend for all aspects of childcare.
MY PHILOSOPHY
· A warm, friendly, and respectful relationship with children is essential for them to develop a secure and trusting bond with me.
· Reassure parents / children to minimise the stress of separation anxiety.
· Children need to be given simple and clear choices. Setting clear, consistent and reasonable limits is an important tool in behaviour management.
· Children are encouraged to be independent. A clean, safe, and healthy physical environment is conducive to achieving this.
· Expectations of children’s development should be in line with their individual abilities. Focus should be on the gains children make while practicing new skills, not on the mistakes they make while learning them.
· Children require a daily program that contains a balance of activities that addresses the typical skills children acquire during the different stages of development. These include fine and gross motor skills, cognitive and language skills, social and emotional skills.
· To make the learning experience of children enjoyable, the daily program should be varied, stimulating, encouraging, and have the flexibility to incorporate children’s preferences. Yet, the program should have sufficient structure (morning tea, lunch, quite time, afternoon tea) to provide the predictability that gives children security and a sense of control.
· Instil in our children a sense of respect for living creatures and available resources, and an appreciation for the importance of diversity.
