Absolutely fantastic centre, my son attended from 18months through to just before starting school, approx 4 years (this time included covid) and the centre staff were always genuinely loving and caring towards the children. My daughter started at 11 months and though the transition was tough, the educator's did everything possible to help to ease her into the daycare centre. The centre has fantastic facilities including a turtle, fish and axolotl. Great indoor and out activities and the centre chief makes the best lunches/snacks for the kids. Far better than i make at home anyway. Couldn't recommend this centre more, great way to help your little ones grow and learn in a safe loving environment

About the Curriculum

About the Curriculum

“Let the child be the scriptwriter, director and the actor in their own play” - Magda Gerber

Nursery Space: 6 weeks – 2 years

Learning starts from before birth, and our Educators have created a welcoming and nurturing nursery environment where each baby feels safe to explore and discover new things - through their senses, their communication and cues (body language, facial expression and sounds) and through experimentation. On any given day you can see the nursery children engaging in all types of play including sensory play, music time, story time and more. Every day provides a brand new, exciting adventure for our babies to support their development, learning and wellbeing.

Toddler Space: 2 - 3 years

Our teachers and educators encourage the children to learn through play to help enhance their sensory-motor development. This happens through carefully planned music, dance, games, role playing and reading experiences.

On any given day the Toddlers can be seen developing their numeracy by building a tower, sorting objects, pointing and identifying shapes and patterns and participating in counting songs and games.

Children in our toddler space are encouraged to participate in group play. Group play is important as it helps our toddlers develop important social skills such as, turn-taking, developing self-confidence and emotional self-regulation. Our skilled team helps children through talking, planning and role modelling.

Kindergarten Space: 3 – 6 years

Kindergarten is a unique time for learning with peers and developing skills for later learning including confidence and curiosity, important skills for starting school. Our play-based program has school readiness at its core, encouraging active engagement in learning and supporting a range of positive developmental outcomes including resilience, independence, critical thinking and creativity.

The oral language supports literacy learning and a child’s oral language ability is the best predictor for later success in learning to read and write. Hearing the sounds within a language is the first critical step for all literacy learning. Our team supports our Kindergarten children's literacy development by engaging in rich discussions, reading, storytelling, dramatic play and experimentation all of which introduce new vocabulary as part of everyday conversations.

Throughout the Kindergarten year, children use their language to share ideas, ask questions, express themselves, and connect with peers and adults in social settings.

Social-emotional skills, including the ability to self-regulate emotions, are supported through group learning experiences. Our team supports each child’s social and emotional development by labelling and talking about emotions and supporting appropriate responses as together, they engage in new and challenging situations. Our goal in the kindergarten year is to prepare children and families for a smooth transition to primary school.

Health and Nutrition

Health and Nutrition

Our centre chef prepares and cooks nutritious meals daily, catering to the unique dietary requirements of every child. We believe that by encouraging active participation (such as growing their own fruit and vegetables, preparing, and finally cooking!) children learn to appreciate and understand the importance of healthy eating across a wide variety of food.

Our centre offers seasonal whole food-based menus – created to delight the fussiest eaters.

Meet the team

Meet the team

I started working in early learning in 1994. I joined the team at Headstart Clyde North in 2022. I hold an Advanced Diploma in Community Sector Management and a Diploma in Early Childhood Education and Care.

I have always loved to be around children. I enjoy watching children grow, learn and gain their independence. As an early educator, I have learnt that children are capable and involved learners who see the smallest wonders around them and the world. It is important to understand that children are often more capable than they are given credit for. I love to observe and assist children in following their passions. To celebrate that with them, really listen to them, and acknowledge their thoughts and opinions is truly rewarding.

There are so many benefits to attending a dedicated early childhood centre like ours. The opportunities presented to them are often endless. Observing and watching their peers and other children can often inspire and encourage them to follow their own interest or discover new interests.

At Headstart ELC Clyde North, we have passionate, knowledgeable and dedicated educators. We understand that starting at a new centre can be overwhelming and that is why from the very first enquiry, we make sure that we address all your questions one by one.

We build strong relationships with families through regular communication. I make sure I am up to date on the latest information regarding Child Care Subsidy (CCS) and funding opportunities to make the most productive suggestions to families to suit their lifestyle, budget and expectations.

Worst centre, if I could take back my child going there I would. I saw Robyn, so called “assistant director” talking so rudely to the staff there, shouting at them, being sarcastic and rolling her eyes at them, who put her in charge … no wonder I heard a couple of the staff saying how unhappy they are working there and how a lot of people hate being there Worst culture for a centre, you can tell the staff are unhappy and they aren’t as motivated with the kids. Don’t trust unhappy, overstimulated and overworked staff who aren’t appreciated with your kids. I have taken my child to a couple other centres in my time and both have been way better If you can avoid I definitely would recommend you do Also FYI I’m writing from my sisters account to remain anonymous

Our four children all attended this centre. Now three are in school and our last one is attending 3 year Kinder here. The staff have only ever looked after our children like their own. We are truly grateful and appreciative of all they do. Very friendly, supportive and communicative staff! We love it and highly recommended other families to attend. Thank you ladies for all your hard work, support and kindness!
