About Sparrow Early Learning Brighton

At Sparrow Early Learning Brighton, we provide individualised education and care for children aged 6 weeks to 5 years and have proudly done so for over 24 years. A truly special place to both learn and work, the majority of our educators have been at our service for over 5 years and 4 team members have celebrated 10 years of service with us.

Inspired by Reggio Emilia philosophy and guided by the Early Years Learning Framework, our educators provide a holistic, play-based curriculum with a strong emphasis on nature and outdoor learning experiences. We celebrate each child as unique and our dedicated educators focus programming on meeting the individual needs and interests of each child.

Indoor learning spaces feel just like home and are filled with materials and resources that come straight from nature and everyday life. Activities are largely open-ended to allow children to follow their interests, use their imagination and stimulate social interactions with their peers and educators.

Our well resourced and shaded outdoor spaces provide limitless opportunities for imaginative and collaborative play, with children enjoying open green areas, climbing equipment, sandpit, swing, bikes and our beautiful tee-pee.

Our kindergarten program is based on the Early Years Learning Framework and is led by a qualified and experienced Early Childhood Teacher. An integrated School Readiness Program ensures children are supported to develop the language, literacy, numeracy and social skills required for a successful transition to school.

Our team warmly invites families to enquire about our service and arrange a visit so we can show you all Sparrow Early Learning Brighton has to offer!

Meet Emily- Service Manager at Sparrow Early Learning Brighton

Welcome to Sparrow Early Learning Brighton. With over a decade of rich experience in the early childhood industry, I bring a deep passion for fostering growth and learning in young minds.

Beyond my professional journey, I am a proud mother to a vibrant daughter who keeps life wonderfully chaotic. Our family is completed by a cat and a snake, adding a touch of adventure to our daily routine.

I believe in the power of open communication and collaboration, and I am eager to build strong connections within the Brighton Sparrow community. My door is always open, and I am here to support you on this exciting journey. I cannot wait to embark on this new chapter together and create a nurturing environment where both children and families can flourish.

About the curriculum

About the curriculum

“The Sparrow Way combines proven international early learning methods to create a unique and purposefully contemporary practice designed for today’s society. Guided by the principles of Reggio Emilia childcare and underpinned by The Early Years Framework for Australia, we embrace children’s inherent abilities to learn and develop, creating an environment for them to find solutions through exploration, discovery and invention, marveling in everything around them. The Sparrow Way is our method of working with children based on these beliefs and principles.”

- The Sparrow Early Education Team

The Sparrow curriculum is thoughtfully planned by our educators and shaped by the Early Years Learning Framework (EYLF). Being guided by the EYLF and National Quality Standards (NQS) ensures we offer high quality learning programs that are responsive to children’s ideas, interests, strengths and abilities.

Programs are play-based, child-driven and inspired by the Reggio Emilia approach with a strong emphasis on nature and outdoor learning experiences.  Educators carefully design environments that stimulate curiosity and provide opportunities for hands-on learning experiences that are reflective of real life.

Play is viewed as a powerful tool for children to explore, discover and make meaning of the world around them. Activities are largely open-ended, providing a wide variety of natural resources and materials which stimulate imagination and foster creativity, problem-solving and meaningful interactions with friends and educators.

Children are encouraged to express themselves through various mediums, such as art, music and dramatic play, allowing them to develop a deep sense of autonomy, confidence and joy in their learning journey.

Parent communication and involvement

Parent communication and involvement

The Sparrow team values the role of families as children’s most important teachers and our educators foster positive and collaborative relationships with families. Parents are encouraged to contribute their ideas for programming, learning activities and the overall operation of the service.

Our inclusive open-door policy welcomes parents to visit our service, engage in discussions with educators and participate in children's learning. Our educators maintain open and continuous communication with families, ensuring a strong connection between the children's home learning environment and their educational experiences at the centre. During pick-up and drop-off times, educators are readily available to engage with families and gladly share insights into the children's progress, well-being and participation.

The use of the Storypark communication app provides daily updates, photos, and videos, fostering regular connections between educators and families. Parents also receive frequent communication through emails, newsletters, displays, notices, information evenings, special events, and Facebook.

Kindergarten/Preschool Programs

Kindergarten/Preschool Programs

  • Planned and delivered by qualified Early Childhood Teachers
  • Government Accredited
  • School Readiness focus
  • Transition to School program including school visits & transition reports

Sparrow Early Learning centres provide high quality kindergarten/preschool programs led by qualified Early Childhood Teachers. While the curriculum remains play-based, these programs follow a more structured approach to teaching and learning experiences to prepare children for transitioning into a primary school environment. There is a careful balance maintained between child-led and teacher-led learning activities.

Our Early Childhood Teachers cater to the individual needs of each child and in collaboration with parents, ensure that children are adequately equipped with the skills and experience required for a smooth transition to “big school”. Ongoing assessment of children’s progress and development is carefully documented and communicated with families and transition statements can be shared with future schools to facilitate a smooth transition to school.

Attending kindergarten/preschool at their familiar Sparrow Early Learning centre makes the transition from the long day care setting less intimidating and children can continue their early learning journey in a safe and familiar environment, surrounded by friends and familiar educators. It also means families can enjoy the flexibility of extended care hours and continued care during school holiday periods. All meals and snacks are provided, adding to the convenience for busy families.

I just wanted to take a moment to say how incredibly happy I am with the care my son Roy receives at your centre. The environment is warm, nurturing, and truly supportive, and I can see how much Roy enjoys his time there. A special thank you to Ash, who takes such amazing care of Roy — she is always so attentive, kind, and patient. I also really appreciate Emily, who is always so helpful and responds quickly whenever I need assistance. And of course, Chrissy, who is also very caring and gentle with Roy. I’m truly grateful for the entire team and the wonderful work you do every day. I have nothing but positive feedback to give and feel very lucky to have found such a great place for Roy.

Response from the owner 30 Jun 2025

Can’t recommend Sparrow highly enough. Our twins absolutely love every day there. The educators are friendly, warm and welcoming every time we are there and are proactive and helpful during drop off when the girls are feeling a bit clingy. We have endless recitals of all their favourite songs from daycare when they’re at home and they love telling us all about their friends and educators from their day there.

Response from the owner 06 May 2025

Thank you so much for the wonderful review! We're so happy that your twins are enjoying their time with us, and it's so nice to hear that they're sharing their day with you at home. Appreciate your support!
