We’ve had a wonderful experience with this centre. The educators are fantastic — especially Miss Carolina, who has been absolutely amazing with our daughter. She is warm, attentive, and clearly cares deeply about the children. Our daughter loves being there and is always excited to go. The environment is spacious and well-organised, providing plenty of room for the children to explore and learn. The management team has also been great. They are always helpful and responsive whenever we need anything.

About Goodstart Early Learning Caloundra

Goodstart Early Learning Caloundra is located in the heart of Caloundra, close to schools, shops, and public transport. We cater for children aged 15 months to school age, with a focus on supporting their learning and development through the Early Years Learning Framework. Our qualified teachers run accredited Kindergarten and Pre-Kindergarten programs to ensure children are well-prepared for school.

We follow the Key Educator Approach, which fosters strong connections between children, families, and educators. This approach ensures consistent, responsive care tailored to each child's needs. Our large outdoor play area is equipped with sandpits, a vegetable garden, worm farm, compost bin, swings, and shaded spaces for exploration and imaginative play. The centre also features an Indigenous yarning space, where children engage in daily Acknowledgement to Country and learn about Aboriginal culture.

Through our Storypark platform, regular family nights, and newsletters, we maintain open communication with families and customise programs to reflect each child’s interests and strengths. We actively engage with the community through excursions, including our popular Beach Kinder program.

We warmly invite you to visit our centre to see how we can support your child’s early learning journey.

Curriculum and programs

Curriculum and programs

The educators at Goodstart Early Learning follow an evidence-based curriculum that aligns with the Early Years Learning Framework. Informed by world-leading research, practices and techniques, the curriculum encourages the children’s natural curiosity and engages them in their learning journey.

As the children move through the different rooms in the centre, the curriculum evolves with them. The educators set goals for the children and celebrate as they reach their milestones. At every stage, the educators are tailoring the curriculum and goals to each child’s individual needs.

The curriculum involves different types of learning experiences and styles. From child-led learning to sessions guided by educators, the children participate in small and large group sessions as well as individual play. Most importantly, the children learn through play, developing social skills, confidence and independence in addition to more formal academic skills.

Parent communication and involvement

Parent communication and involvement

Goodstart Early Learning uses the StoryPark app to connect with parents throughout the day. The educators upload photos and stories to the secure app, which parents can access anytime and anywhere to track their child’s progress.

The approach at the centre is very much based around partnership between families and educators. The educators work with the parents and carers to build strong relationships. They develop trust so the children can feel safe and secure while at the centre. Parents are also encouraged to share their insights and feedback with educators to add depth to the relationship.

The educators observe the children every day and tailor the program around their observations. They share these with parents, so they can feel connected to their child’s progress and also provide feedback that will further enhance their child’s learning experience.

Meet the team

Meet the team

Goodstart Early Learning employs qualified and skilled educators who are dedicated to making a difference to the children in their care. The centre employs people who are empathetic and compassionate, with a nurturing disposition and a passion for care. Working collaboratively as a team, the educators display qualities such as positivity, kindness and, most importantly, a desire to help every child thrive.

The educators hold relevant qualifications, including the Kindergarten and Preschool Program teachers who are university qualified. The educators are lifelong learners, participating in regular and ongoing professional development to enhance their skills. They are encouraged to upskill, learning about the latest research and thinking in the sector. They can then bring this knowledge back to the centre to share with their colleagues for the benefit of the children.

I hate to write this review as I know how difficult it is to look after children and we are thankful to those educators who do work here and care for the kids day in, day out but I wish I had an insight on this centre before sending our kids there. Our kids have attended this centre for a number of years. The toddler room hasn’t had permanent staff work there longer than a few months ever since we have been there. My daughter would cry every single morning at drop off and would fight to go to daycare, we have now just started a new daycare a week ago and she is a totally different child, she’s happy and hugs her educators (she’s been there a few days and we can see a complete shift!!) We have learnt that there have been a few dramas at Goodstart Caloundra, a few I won’t get into but there was an educator working here treating the children poorly that actually made the news. She would scream, and even laid hands on them. Luckily she is not there anymore. We should’ve been told about these things, it’s our kids that they are working with, we should absolutely have been told about this. On one of the last days when we picked our children up at 3:30-4pm there was not one full time educator in sight - they were all agency workers (this centre highly relies on agency workers). I could not believe it, ANYTHING could have happened in this afternoon and we would have never known about it. Another incident was I signed a form to say not to apply the sunscreen to one of our children as she had a skin reaction to it. I got 3 phone calls in 2 weeks that someone had applied the sunscreen to her. There needs to be a duty of care for all workers who come in contact with children about allergies / they have so much staff turnover around that these things happen. New staff need to have a morning meeting before working with children. Around special occasions like Mother’s Day/father’s day/kindy graduation etc, we never got keepsakes, so seeing friends at other kindy/daycares receive special things we missed out on sucked a bit. The educators do their best with what resources they have. There are a handful of educators that are amazing, Amy and Ari - in the pre kindy room, they are patient and kind. Tamika the new director is great, she welcomes you at the door.. a couple months ago, you could walk in and nobody would bat an eye at you. We found from conversations that the educators are just being over worked, it’s unorganised and isn’t a positive work place which is resulting to educators being unhappy and leaving / burnt out. You can really just go off the vibe. I really do hope that this centre improves for the children and finds permanent staff that will stay there for a while. They have lost a lot of great educators in the last 2 years so I hope the big bosses figure out why this may be and do something about it!

Unfortunately this facility is terribly unorganised and seemingly uncomfortable for most children when dropped off by parents without support by carers. Hopefully under new management the vibe can be turned around and become a more positive experience. Recommend parents looking at alternative daycare in the area.
