Meet the team

Meet the team

We’re a passionate and friendly bunch of early childhood teachers (ECTs), lead educators, and educators, all working together to create a fun and enriching space where every child can thrive.

For us, it’s all about building meaningful relationships – with the children, families, and each other. We’ve created a warm, welcoming space where every family feels respected, valued, and supported, and where every child is seen and heard. As a new service, we’re committed to building trust and strong connections, ensuring that every little one feels right at home!

Programs

Programs

Our service is designed to inspire curiosity and creativity in every child. From our purpose-built outdoor areas to the engaging, hands-on activities, we offer children a space where they can play, explore, and grow.

  • Dedicated Outdoor Spaces: Each room has direct access to its own outdoor area, meaning children can move freely between indoor and outdoor spaces throughout the day. The open-door policy allows for constant exploration and sensory stimulation.
  • Messy Sensory Play: We encourage children to get messy! With mud pits, water fountains they can turn on and off, and creative sensory play, we make sure that fun and learning go hand-in-hand.
  • Freedom of Choice: Children are given the freedom to choose where they want to play and what activities they want to engage in. This fosters independence and decision-making skills while ensuring they feel in control of their learning.
  • Sibling Play Time: At Story House, siblings can play together during the day, strengthening family bonds and providing children with familiar faces throughout their learning journey.
  • Community Connections: Our excursions are designed to connect children with their local community. Whether it’s a walk around the neighbourhood or a trip to the local café for baby chinos, we’re building ties with the world around us.
Parent communication and involvement

Parent communication and involvement

We believe in creating a close-knit, supportive community where both children and parents feel valued. Here’s why families choose us:

  • Personalised Care and Communication: We take the time to engage with families beyond just education. We have real conversations about your child’s life and needs, ensuring that care is personalised and meaningful.
  • Orientation with Heart: Our orientations are relaxed and thorough, allowing families to take their time exploring the premises, meeting our team, and asking questions. Our educators sit in on every orientation to help families feel comfortable and supported from the very beginning.
  • Regular Updates & Communication: Parents appreciate the regular updates we provide via our ‘Story Park’ app - meaning families can stay connected throughout the day. Live routines and photos help you feel involved in your child’s experiences.
Health and Nutrition

Health and Nutrition

We’re proud to have Chef Hitomi, a talented chef with years of experience in high-end restaurants and hotels, as a key member of our team. She is passionate about providing delicious, healthy food for the children, and her background in Japanese cuisine adds a unique touch to our menu.

  • Sugar-Free, Wholesome Meals: No sugar is added to the dishes, instead focusing on fresh, nutritious ingredients. Hitomi introduces the children to a variety of cuisines each day, expanding their tastes and encouraging adventurous eaters.
  • Healthy Snacks and Treats: From sugar-free zucchini-chocolate cake to cakes made with vegetables like beetroot, the delicious creations are both healthy and loved by the children.
  • Interactive Mealtimes: Chef Hitomi is an active participant in mealtimes, serving the food and engaging with the children. She encourages them to learn about their food, and even teaches cooking lessons, such as making sushi, moon cakes, and tacos!
  • Community Dining: We believe in the importance of mealtime as a community activity. We encourage children to eat together, practice sitting down to meals, and engage in conversation — all while enjoying delicious, healthy food.
About the Curriculum

About the Curriculum

  • STRONG Beginnings Curriculum: We believe every child’s learning journey is unique. That is why our highly qualified teaching teams customise Story House’s STRONG Beginnings Curriculum to each individual child’s learning and development needs. Our learning approach is based on educational research where every day your child can develop 21st-century skills being prepared for school and life. This tailored approach nurtures children’s learning and growth as they develop skills such as socialisation, emotional regulation, building resilience, and understanding the importance of caring for their body and brain through our mindfulness and nutrition programs.
  • Play-based Learning:  Children are inspired to be curious through our inquiry learning approach, where they will naturally explore, wonder, question, and make sense of the world around them.

Pathway to School

Our 3-year-old Kindergarten and 4-year-old Pre-Prep programs nurture young learners as they gain confidence, make decisions, and develop emotional strength and social connections. Children learn to collaborate, problem-solve, and express themselves while building key skills in literacy, numeracy, and communication. They also explore healthy choices, personal responsibility, and creative thinking in an engaging and supportive environment.

We provide inquiry-based curriculum through play - across exciting learning areas, including:

  • STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Maths)
  • Language and Literacy
  • Active and Involved Citizens
  • Nature Play and Sustainability
  • The Arts
  • Health and Wellbeing

With a balance of small and whole-group experiences, both indoors and outdoors, children are encouraged to wonder, discover, and grow - preparing them for a bright future ahead!

SHEL Reservoir is one of the best decisions I have made for my son. My son started attending childcare at 5 months old. Initially, as the youngest baby in a new centre, I was very worried. The educators have over time assured us again and again that my son was in good hands and we could call to check in anytime. In the last 6 months since my son has been here, we have seen that the educators are there because they genuinely love kids. It is most important to me that they enjoy being around kids as my son spends so much of his time at childcare with them. They are receptive to feedback and follow our home routines closely. Hitomi, the chef, makes the most amazing food! I wish I could eat the food there too! I highly recommend SHEL Reservoir as they are the reason I can go to work, knowing that my son is well-loved and in the safest hands.
