Curriculum and programs

Curriculum and programs

The educators at Goodstart Early Learning follow an evidence-based curriculum that aligns with the Early Years Learning Framework. Informed by world-leading research, practices and techniques, the curriculum encourages the children’s natural curiosity and engages them in their learning journey.

As the children move through the different rooms in the centre, the curriculum evolves with them. The educators set goals for the children and celebrate as they reach their milestones. At every stage, the educators are tailoring the curriculum and goals to each child’s individual needs.

The curriculum involves different types of learning experiences and styles. From child-led learning to sessions guided by educators, the children participate in small and large group sessions as well as individual play. Most importantly, the children learn through play, developing social skills, confidence and independence in addition to more formal academic skills.

Parent communication and involvement

Parent communication and involvement

Goodstart Early Learning uses the StoryPark app to connect with parents throughout the day. The educators upload photos and stories to the secure app, which parents can access anytime and anywhere to track their child’s progress.

The approach at the centre is very much based around partnership between families and educators. The educators work with the parents and carers to build strong relationships. They develop trust so the children can feel safe and secure while at the centre. Parents are also encouraged to share their insights and feedback with educators to add depth to the relationship.

The educators observe the children every day and tailor the program around their observations. They share these with parents, so they can feel connected to their child’s progress and also provide feedback that will further enhance their child’s learning experience.

We’ve had all three of our children attend Goodstart Gawler South, and our experience has been truly wonderful. When they first started, they faced language barriers, but the educators went above and beyond by learning some Chinese to help include and support them. That effort meant so much to our family and made the children feel safe, understood, and welcomed. The staff are caring, patient, and genuinely dedicated to creating an inclusive environment. It’s been lovely to see how much our children have grown in confidence and happiness during their time here. We are very grateful and would highly recommend Goodstart Gawler South to any families looking for a supportive and nurturing early learning center.

My journey with Goodstart Gawler South started in 2018 when I enrolled my daughter at 2yo. My oldest attended a different local centre and one night when i picked him up he was alone watching tv- i knew i wanted something different for my daughter. We toured other centres and found them sterile and boring... Upon our tour at Gawler South we were immediately attracted to the large outdoor environment and welcoming staff. I found the director Janines vision for the centre inspiring and positive. From her first day my daughter loved childcare days, I don't think she shed a single tear at drop off ever. In fact, she used to get upset if I picked her up too early! Many of the staff from her early years are still here including Janine, Mel, Nancy and Rosa. Now my youngest son attends the centre and has formed beautiful relationships with the educators and has made many friendships. He loves the homely menu on offer each day and has thrived since starting at the centre in Nursery 2. Talysha and the nursery team were amazing in his early days, giving him the attention he needed to settle into care while also supporting my breastfeeding journey with him. I found Assistant Director Mel a great help in securing inclusion funding for my child's additional needs and a wealth of knowledge for anything i wanted to know. Vicki, Sixin and the rest of the Toddler team were fantastic in providing a consistent, structured routine as well as ensuring he had an inclusion support educator as often as possible. Vicki also went above and beyond including Auslan experiences throughout the program and liasing with his speech pathologist to support his communication goals. Kelly is an amazing teacher for the 3yo flying start program, her organised, calm and caring nature is exactly what the children need and we look forward to the activities she provides each day. Nicole as PS1 inclusion support educator always goes above and beyond to ensure my son has meaningful learning opportunities each day with beautiful stories on Storypark. When we go home my son talks about his day and often mentions Nancy and her special books- it's beautiful to see both my children talk about her so fondly. This is just a few of the amazing educators I've mentioned here- i have no hesitation that my son would be well cared for by any of the educators here at Goodstart Gawler South. With family so far away it is an extension of our village where the educators and staff are all like bonus Aunties!

We absolutely love Goodstart Gawler South, we have been here for about 3.5 years and now two kids in I wouldn't take my kids anywhere else. The educators are absolutely incredible from Nursery all the way to Preschool, most of the educators from our first are still in the center now caring for our second. Both our kids struggled transitioning to childcare and the team have been so incredibly supportive and caring to ensure our kids are comfortable and happy. We now can't get our kids out the center at the end of the day 😅 Our oldest has made such beautiful friendships and has such a great group of friends who have all been together for the last 3 years.
