We’ve had a wonderful experience with YMCA Early Learning Centre, East Cannington. Our 16-month-old daughter settled in much quicker than we expected, thanks to the warm and caring educators who made her feel comfortable from day one. The staff are genuinely attentive, patient, and always communicate with us about her day and progress. The centre has a lovely, welcoming ambience — bright, clean, and full of engaging activities that encourage learning through play. We’re really happy with our decision to enrol her here and highly recommend this centre to other parents!

I just want to say a big thank you to everyone in this centre, especially Jyoti, Sarah, Sam, and Pradnya. You’ve been part of my daughter’s life since she was 3 months old and now she’s almost 4 years old. You cared for her, kept her safe, and helped her grow, and I’ll always be grateful for that. Being able to follow her day through the app, seeing what she ate and what she did, always gave me a sense of comfort and connection! Thank you for the kindness, the patience, and the warmth you gave her every single day. This place will always mean so much to us!

We’ve had such a wonderful experience with YMCA East Cannington Early Learning so far! It’s only been nearly two months since our son joined, but he has settled in beautifully — far beyond what we expected. As a parent, I was initially quite anxious about how he would adjust to a new environment, but thanks to the incredible support from his room leader, Ms. Pradnya, he warmed up within just a week or two. She has such a natural way with children — calm, caring, and attentive — and it's clear she genuinely loves what she does. Our son has developed a lovely bond with her, and it's so reassuring to see how comfortable and happy he is around her. He’s also built strong connections with Ms. Sam and the other educators in the room — it’s heartwarming to see how much he enjoys spending time with them all. The entire team is so kind, patient, and genuinely invested in the children’s growth and well-being. Being vegetarian, I was initially concerned about how his dietary needs would be met, but the center has been incredibly thoughtful. Mr. Muthu, the cook, prepares healthy and tasty vegetarian meals just for him, and we truly appreciate the effort and care put into every meal. Another highlight is their wonderful outdoor play area, which our son absolutely loves! The space is not only fun and safe but also designed to support learning through play. It’s wonderful to see the children engaging in outdoor activities that encourage gross motor skills, imagination, teamwork, and social interaction. Seeing them play and learn together has really helped our son develop confidence and strong social skills. A big thank you to the center manager, Jyoti, as well. From the very beginning, she’s been warm, welcoming, and approachable, making the entire transition into daycare smooth and comforting for us as parents. The team at YMCA East Cannington clearly puts a lot of heart and thought into everything they do. Our son genuinely loves going there every day, and we couldn’t be happier knowing he’s in such nurturing, capable hands. Highly recommended!

After looking at several centres in the area, so pleased to have found this one! The large open areas and playgrounds provide plenty of space for the kids to run and play, all under shade of great trees. So much better than the manufactured false greenery of other centres. My son loves to play and get dirty. Brilliant place with very caring staff, couldn't be happier

As a first time mum I was very nervous to place my child into childcare. I visited 4 centres in my area and chose YMCA East Cannington as this was the centre that resonated with me the best. They have fantastic outdoor areas for kids to get messy and a homely feel. My instincts did not disappoint. My first daughter started day care at 6 months back in 2018 and my second in 2022. The staff were so supportive to both my daughters and myself as I transitioned back to work. My children have learnt and developed so much with the help of all the educators at YMCA. I highly recommend YMCA East Cannington and cannot thank them enough for all they have done for my girls and our family for the last 7 years.

Good experience. Bev is nice and very accommodating. Sam is very helpful, easing our Son's anxiety each time he comes by cuddling him. Place is not the newest, but it's alright as it meets its purpose. Clean, huge outdoor shades, only little sand pit so Son don't go home very messy. Thank you all for the care. All the best!

Our daughter has been attending YMCA East Cannington for almost 4 years now, since she was 2years. She began in the toddlers room, she was fully supported in many ways, her picky food habits, language delay, and emotional needs. We will be forever grateful to the staff who helped her settle and thrive into her journey at the Y. Kindy room has also been a great experience in getting her ready for full time school. She has made so many friends, learnt essential skills like toileting, taking turns, sharing and developing fine motor skills and gross motor skills. Overall Staff at East Cannington are experienced, professional and very caring. The East Cannington Y director Bev is amazing, she has and will go above and beyond for the children by improving daily tasks and introducing new programs to keep them engaged. The layout of the East Cannington Y is very homely, great backyard to discover nature and a front yard to develop gross motor skills, as well as a cubby house, vege patch to keep all the kids happy! Currently our daughter looks forward to the school holidays so she can go see her friends and spend time with the staff. Soon, We will be sad to stop going when she no longer can and will always be grateful and thankful she had an amazing start to her early childhood years.

Thank you for looking after my son from 7 months old till he is over 3! He loves and trust the educators so much that he always likes to go there! Love all the activities and the balances of being indoor and outdoor! He learnt and gained so much from here! Myself and my son love the centre so much!

I have decided to revise my review after reflecting on my experience over the past year, particularly following the change in management. Unfortunately, I encountered several issues that I believe are important for other parents to be aware of. Most concerning was an incident where I found a young child alone and unsupervised in the car park, with neither the educators nor management aware the child was missing. After ensuring the child was safely returned to the centre, I was surprised and disappointed that I did not receive any formal acknowledgment, apology, or incident report from the centre. Additionally, despite multiple requests over several months for a developmental plan for my child, no plan was ever provided. This lack of support impacted my child’s mental and educational growth during a critical year. Since moving to a new centre, I’ve noticed significant progress in his development, which further highlighted the lack of engagement at the previous centre. Another concern was the staff’s unfamiliarity with the organisation’s values. When I inquired, a staff member casually remarked that such values were “just for paperwork.” I strongly disagree with this view. Organisational values should form the foundation of a centre’s culture and practice, and it is essential that all staff understand and embody them. I share this feedback with the hope that it leads to improvements in care, professionalism, and accountability for the benefit of all children and families who rely on this service. ————————————————————————— Our experience with YMCA Cannington has been nothing short of amazing. The positive approach towards all children is truly commendable. My son is always excited to go to the center in the morning. The team's dedication to creating a happy and educational atmosphere has greatly contributed to my son’s growth and development over the last 6 months. Grateful for such a wonderful place with such wonderful childcare educators
