I placed my son in this child care at 10.5 months. From day 1, it was clear that he felt a sense of belonging and wonder. His carers across multiple rooms and at different times of the day genuinely care for each and every one of their students. So thank you to all the carers at the centre for your attention and love shown to the students. Special shout-out to Kurshida who always knows how to reassure kids missing their parents and plans great activities for the kids including painting and gardening. My son was previously a fussy eater but has had no problem eating Lisa's healthy meals (which has inspired a few dinner options for the family too!). Finally, it's great to see the lesson plans that are uploaded by the centre manager, Emma, that are truly tailored to each child and to always have reassurance from Emma that my child has been settled (upon the days he is a bit more emotional at morning drop offs) and/or any special instructions for the day are being passed on to carers.

About the Curriculum

About the Curriculum

“Let the child be the scriptwriter, director and the actor in their own play” - Magda Gerber

Nursery Space: 6 weeks – 2 years

Learning starts from before birth, and our Educators have created a welcoming and nurturing nursery environment where each baby feels safe to explore and discover new things - through their senses, their communication and cues (body language, facial expression and sounds) and through experimentation. On any given day you can see the nursery children engaging in all types of play including sensory play, music time, story time and more. Every day provides a brand new, exciting adventure for our babies to support their development, learning and wellbeing.

Toddler Space: 2 - 3 years

Our teachers and educators encourage the children to learn through play to help enhance their sensory-motor development. This happens through carefully planned music, dance, games, role playing and reading experiences.

On any given day the Toddlers can be seen developing their numeracy by building a tower, sorting objects, pointing and identifying shapes and patterns and participating in counting songs and games.

Children in our toddler space are encouraged to participate in group play. Group play is important as it helps our toddlers develop important social skills such as, turn-taking, developing self-confidence and emotional self-regulation. Our skilled team helps children through talking, planning and role modelling.

Preschool Space: 3 – 6 years

Preschool is a unique time for learning with peers and developing skills for later learning including confidence and curiosity, important skills for starting school. Our play-based program has school readiness at its core, encouraging active engagement in learning and supporting a range of positive developmental outcomes including resilience, independence, critical thinking and creativity.

The oral language supports literacy learning and a child’s oral language ability is the best predictor for later success in learning to read and write. Hearing the sounds within a language is the first critical step for all literacy learning. Our team supports our Preschool children's literacy development by engaging in rich discussions, reading, storytelling, dramatic play and experimentation all of which introduce new vocabulary as part of everyday conversations.

Throughout the Preschool year, children use their language to share ideas, ask questions, express themselves, and connect with peers and adults in social settings.

Social-emotional skills, including the ability to self-regulate emotions, are supported through group learning experiences. Our team supports each child’s social and emotional development by labelling and talking about emotions and supporting appropriate responses as together, they engage in new and challenging situations. Our goal in the Preschool year is to prepare children and families for a smooth transition to primary school.

Health and Nutrition

Health and Nutrition

Our centre chef prepares and cooks nutritious meals daily, catering to the unique dietary requirements of every child. We believe that by encouraging active participation (such as growing their own fruit and vegetables, preparing, and finally cooking!) children learn to appreciate and understand the importance of healthy eating across a wide variety of food.

Our centre offers seasonal whole food-based menus – created to delight the fussiest eaters.

Hi my name is Emma-Rose and I am the Centre Manager at First Grammar Hammondville. My journey in early learning started in 2019. I joined the team at First Grammar Hammondville in 2021. I hold a Diploma of Children's Services and I am currently working towards my Bachelor in education. I am passionate about early childhood education and committed to providing a high-quality service to our community. Being able to watch a child grow and blossom into their own unique person is truly a privilege.

Learning within a dedicated early childhood education and care service allows children to be exposed and to build confidence in many different developmental areas such as social, emotional, physical, and cognitive and many more areas. My teaching philosophy is guided by the child's interest and family input. I love creating play-based programs that help each child build and develop at their individual pace with guidance and support from the educators.

Our centre offers a warm, welcoming and safe atmosphere for our families and children. We work in partnership with the families to ensure that each child can reach their full potential and feel a sense of security and belonging here. Each week you will receive a weekly catch-up with plenty of information to keep you up to date with what is happening within the centre, as well as daily updates about your child and their engagement with the program.

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ I couldn’t be happier with First Grammar daycare! From the very beginning, we’ve felt so supported and welcomed. My daughter’s nursery teachers, Fernaz and Harprit, are incredibly caring, patient, and attentive — it gives me such peace of mind knowing my daughter is in their hands each day. A huge shout-out as well to Lisa, the chef, who prepares the most amazing, healthy meals for the kids (and even spoils the parents with delicious snacks — such a treat!). It makes such a difference knowing the children are eating so well. And of course, Emma, the centre manager, is an absolute gem. She has created such a warm, positive environment where both staff and families feel valued. It’s clear how much she truly cares about the kids, the parents, and her whole team. Thank you to the whole daycare team for making my daughter’s days so full of love, learning, and fun — I am so grateful!

Your positive feedback is invaluable to us and motivates our entire team to keep delivering excellence. Best regards, The First Grammar Team

I cannot speak highly enough of First Grammar Hammondville! From the moment my daughter Mariam started there—when she was less than one year old—they made the transition incredibly smooth for both of us. The entire team is not only professional but genuinely loving, caring, and considerate. It was clear from day one that they don’t just do a job—they pour their hearts into every child. Every staff member, even those who weren't Mariam’s direct carers, knew her name and treated her with warmth and affection. The atmosphere feels like a close-knit family, and that kind of connection is rare to find. The centre truly caters to each child’s individual needs, and the care and attention they provide gave me peace of mind every day. The food is another story—my husband and I used to race to drop Mariam off so we wouldn't miss the snacks and coffee! A special thank you to Emma-Rose (the wonderful manager), Khurshida, Harprit, Layal, Pramond, Liza, Elaine, and Courtney and literally everyone there…your kindness, patience, and love made all the difference. Unfortunately, we had to leave due to moving out of the area, and it was such an emotional farewell. I honestly don’t think we’ll ever find another centre quite like First Grammar Hammondville. If I could choose all over again, I’d choose them every single time. And if we ever move back anywhere near the area, we’ll definitely return without a second thought. I’ll be recommending them to everyone I know who’s looking for a second home for their children… We will miss you all.. Mariam sends her kisses to everyone
