Nursery Space: 6 weeks – 2 years
Learning starts from before birth, and our Educators have created a welcoming and nurturing nursery environment where each baby feels safe to explore and discover new things - through their senses, their communication and cues (body language, facial expression and sounds) and through experimentation. On any given day you can see the nursery children engaging in all types of play including sensory play, music time, story time and more. Every day provides a brand new, exciting adventure for our babies to support their development, learning and wellbeing.
Toddler Space: 2 - 3 years
Our teachers and educators encourage the children to learn through play to help enhance their sensory-motor development. This happens through carefully planned music, dance, games, role playing and reading experiences.
On any given day the Toddlers can be seen developing their numeracy by building a tower, sorting objects, pointing and identifying shapes and patterns and participating in counting songs and games.
Children in our toddler space are encouraged to participate in group play. Group play is important as it helps our toddlers develop important social skills such as, turn-taking, developing self-confidence and emotional self-regulation. Our skilled team helps children through talking, planning and role modelling.
Kindergarten Space: 3 – 6 years
Kindergarten is a unique time for learning with peers and developing skills for later learning including confidence and curiosity, important skills for starting school. Our play-based program has school readiness at its core, encouraging active engagement in learning and supporting a range of positive developmental outcomes including resilience, independence, critical thinking and creativity.
The oral language supports literacy learning and a child’s oral language ability is the best predictor for later success in learning to read and write. Hearing the sounds within a language is the first critical step for all literacy learning. Our team supports our Kindergarten children's literacy development by engaging in rich discussions, reading, storytelling, dramatic play and experimentation all of which introduce new vocabulary as part of everyday conversations.
Throughout the Kindergarten year, children use their language to share ideas, ask questions, express themselves, and connect with peers and adults in social settings.
Social-emotional skills, including the ability to self-regulate emotions, are supported through group learning experiences. Our team supports each child’s social and emotional development by labelling and talking about emotions and supporting appropriate responses as together, they engage in new and challenging situations. Our goal in the Kindergarten year is to prepare children and families for a smooth transition to primary school.
Morning
Ellie is 11 months old and enjoys sensory play outside in the sandpit with her friends. She sits near her educator who helps teach her how to scoop the sand into the bucket. Ellie is learning how to dig, carry, and move the sand. She is also exploring texture and learning what happens to the sand when she adds water!
Lunch
Ellie has finished her lunch and is preparing to take a nap. Her educator changes her nappy, prepares a bottle and reads Ellie a story before her afternoon sleep.
Afternoon
Ellie and some of her nursery friends enjoy some story time and songs outside in the shaded garden. They read ‘Peepo’ which is Ellie’s favourite book.
Morning
Josh is two and a half years old and loves to start his day at the centre outside on the climbing equipment. His friends join him, and together they pretend to be pirates on a ship looking for treasure. Through this exciting dramatic play, Josh is learning about himself and the world around him. Dramatic play is helping Josh identify his interests, abilities, likes and dislikes.
Lunch
Josh is watering the vegetables in the garden. By doing this, Josh is learning the importance of growing and caring for the veggies in the garden. Josh picks a tomato from the garden, which the Chef will use to help make Josh and his friend’s lunch - Spaghetti Bolognese!
Afternoon
Josh enjoys art, and today he is painting a beach scene from a recent family holiday. He adds the finishing touches and sets the painting aside to dry; so that he can take it home to share with his family.
While painting, Josh is learning how to express himself creatively and how to convey his ideas and emotions. Painting is also helping develop Josh’s hand eye coordination, finger, wrist and hand strength. Making marks on paper is important for self expression as well as later learning.
Morning
Charlotte is almost five years old and can’t wait for today’s carpentry experience - she loves building things! Carpentry experiences allow Charlotte and her friends to extend their learning through real-life experiences. While participating in carpentry, Charlotte is learning to problem solve, experiment and predict. She is also improving her hand eye coordination, manipulative skills and muscular strength.
Lunch
Before Charlotte sits down for lunch with her friends and educators, Charlotte takes part in the centre’s sports program. Charlotte loves sports. Sports helps Charlotte improve her flexibility and strength (perfect for growing bodies!). Sports also allows her to practice different skills in a fun and engaging way.
Afternoon
Charlotte is off to ‘big school’ next year and she can't wait to start! Charlotte and her friends will be visiting the local primary school next week. In preparation for the visit, the class is creating a list of questions to ask the Principal and school children.
Our centre chef prepares and cooks nutritious meals daily, catering to the unique dietary requirements of every child. We believe that by encouraging active participation (such as growing their own fruit and vegetables, preparing, and finally cooking!) children learn to appreciate and understand the importance of healthy eating across a wide variety of food.

Hi, my name is Cassie, and I am the Centre Manager here at Community Kids Pakenham. I am committed to ensuring every child feels safe, welcomed, and cared for, and that each family feels a strong sense of belonging within our centre community.
I began my career in early childhood education in 2012 as an Assistant Educator and have since progressed through roles including Lead Educator and Assistant Centre Manager. I have been working as a Centre Manager since 2018, and joined Community Kids Pakenham in 2025.
I am passionate about leading and guiding educators to create a safe, nurturing, and inclusive environment for all children. Throughout my career, I have built strong relationships with children, families, and teams. From my first day in early childhood education, I was inspired by the opportunity to make a meaningful difference in each child’s life. I am committed to ensuring every child feels safe, welcomed, and cared for, and that each family feels a strong sense of belonging within our centre community.
Our centre is an extension of home, where children can learn, grow, and feel part of a supportive community. Our team at Community Kids Pakenham is dedicated to providing engaging and enriching learning environments. We are proud of our diverse team and the strong culture we have built together. Many of our educators have been with the centre for over 10 years, which provides consistency and strong relationships for children and families.
Supporting families is at the heart of what we do. We focus on daily communication, understanding each family’s individual needs, and working in partnership to support every child’s development. ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐<br>I cannot speak highly enough of Community Kids Pakenham!<br><br>From the very beginning, management made us feel so welcomed, supported and valued. There was never any judgement, just genuine care, kindness and understanding. The educators in the older rooms were absolutely amazing with our girls, taking the time to truly understand their individual needs and ensuring they felt safe, happy and supported and leaving was an incredibly emotional time for our family, but the compassion, understanding and support we received went above and beyond anything we could have expected😭❤️.<br>What makes this centre so special is that you're not treated like just another family walking through the doors. You're made to feel like part of their family. The love, dedication and genuine care shown by management and educators is something we will always be grateful for.<br>Community kids pakenham is so much more than a childcare centre. It's a beautiful, welcoming community filled with people who genuinely care about the children and families they support.Thank you for making such a positive difference in our girls' lives. Such a wonderful, welcoming and family focused centre. The teachers are all so lovely, caring and genuinely make you feel like part of a family. J absolutely loves coming here, which says so much about the beautiful environment they have created. We love the freshly painted look, it looks amazing and everything looks so fresh, bright and welcoming. It's lovely to see the improvements being made.<br><br>Linda and Cassie along with the team have done a great job. It's sad to see Cassie has left, but once again hats off to you Linda for stepping up again, you do an amazing job, and really hope you take on centre manager role permanently. Your dedication, kindness and genuine passion for the children, families and teachers doesn't go unnoticed, the centre is lucky to have you.<br>I also have to say the kinder teachers with J are just so amazing, caring and genuinely interested in our family, always asking for our input which we see in observations and activities in the room. Lekan you are so loved by us all, you will be very missed when we go to school next year. Kalpani and Sunil also make you feel so comfortable knowing that the children are happy,, loved and cared for. Thank you to the entire team for creating such a warm, family focused environment. We absolutely love this kindergarten and couldn’t be happier with the care, support and communication we receive 🧡🧡<br><br>A special mention to Cassie and Linda in the front office — they are such lovely, welcoming faces to see when we arrive. They are always approachable, easy to talk to and genuinely make me feel like I can come to them about anything- I really appreciate how clear, open and transparent the communication is.<br><br>My 3 year old and 4 turning 5 years old have been here just under a year now and I can mention that all of the carers are wonderful and genuinely care about the children. They are approachable, supportive and always keep me informed of any concerns, updates or things my children may need support with. I love that we can work together as a team to give my kids the best possible experience.<br><br>The app and email updates are also fantastic. I love seeing what my kids have been up to throughout their day — it makes me feel so connected even when I’m not there🥹🥹<br><br>Overall, we are so grateful to have found such an amazing kindergarten. My kids love being there, and I feel completely comfortable knowing they are surrounded by people who genuinely care about them.<br><br>Couldn’t recommend the whole team enough! 🙌🏼

We absolutely love this service and have had such a positive experience here.<br>The educators are all so caring and genuinely take the time to get to know each child and understand them as an individual. I really love that they recognise that every child is different and support them based on their own needs, personality and interests. You can tell how much the educators genuinely care about the kids and the relationships they build with them.<br>The rooms are also amazing! They are always so colourful and inviting, and there is so much for the kids to look at, explore and learn from. I especially love seeing their artwork, photos and learning displayed around the rooms. It really feels like the children are a part of the space and that their individual identities are celebrated.<br>Most importantly, I feel comfortable knowing my child is somewhere they are cared for, understood and supported. We have been really happy here and are so grateful for everyone who work at the centre and everything they do for the kids.
