I have had an incredible experience with Community Kids Springvale South My daughter has been attending this childcare centre since she was 6months old. As a first time mum it was daunting leaving her when I went back to work but I had nothing to worry about The staff here are amazing. They are familiar, friendly, caring & welcoming and have received excellent training in educating children. They have all the kids best interests at heart. There is no turnover of staff. My daughter has had the same educators since she started. They are familiar to her as she has gotten to know them over time and feels comfortable with them. They are all exceptional at what they do. The management is equally great, Christine has ran the centre for close to 25 years and the centre’s success is a testament to the hard work that she and the staff have put in over time. Vania as deputy manager is also extremely helpful and friendly and always available if you have any questions. What I love about the centre is that even the management are actively involved in caring for the children. Each day my daughter goes in, she is greeted by staff that are smiling and happy at their work and happy to see her She is very well looked after and she has developed so many new skills in the 5 short months that she has been there I would recommend Community Kids to anyone in the area that is looking for a safe, friendly, caring and educational centre to send their kids to.

About the curriculum

About the curriculum

“Let the child be the scriptwriter, director and the actor in their own play” - Magda Gerber

Nursery Space: 6 weeks – 2 years

Learning starts from before birth, and our Educators have created a welcoming and nurturing nursery environment where each baby feels safe to explore and discover new things - through their senses, their communication and cues (body language, facial expression and sounds) and through experimentation. On any given day you can see the nursery children engaging in all types of play including sensory play, music time, story time and more. Every day provides a brand new, exciting adventure for our babies to support their development, learning and wellbeing.

Toddler Space: 2 - 3 years

Our teachers and educators encourage the children to learn through play to help enhance their sensory-motor development. This happens through carefully planned music, dance, games, role playing and reading experiences.

On any given day the Toddlers can be seen developing their numeracy by building a tower, sorting objects, pointing and identifying shapes and patterns and participating in counting songs and games.

Children in our toddler space are encouraged to participate in group play. Group play is important as it helps our toddlers develop important social skills such as, turn-taking, developing self-confidence and emotional self-regulation. Our skilled team helps children through talking, planning and role modelling.

Kindergarten Space: 3 – 6 years

Kindergarten is a unique time for learning with peers and developing skills for later learning including confidence and curiosity, important skills for starting school. Our play-based program has school readiness at its core, encouraging active engagement in learning and supporting a range of positive developmental outcomes including resilience, independence, critical thinking and creativity.

The oral language supports literacy learning and a child’s oral language ability is the best predictor for later success in learning to read and write. Hearing the sounds within a language is the first critical step for all literacy learning. Our team supports our Kindergarten children's literacy development by engaging in rich discussions, reading, storytelling, dramatic play and experimentation all of which introduce new vocabulary as part of everyday conversations.

Throughout the Kindergarten year, children use their language to share ideas, ask questions, express themselves, and connect with peers and adults in social settings.

Social-emotional skills, including the ability to self-regulate emotions, are supported through group learning experiences. Our team supports each child’s social and emotional development by labelling and talking about emotions and su pporting appropriate responses as together, they engage in new and challenging situations. Our goal in the kindergarten year is to prepare children and families for a smooth transition to primary school.

Health and Nutrition

Health and Nutrition

Our centre chef prepares and cooks nutritious meals daily, catering to the unique dietary requirements of every child. We believe that by encouraging active participation (such as growing their own fruit and vegetables, preparing, and finally cooking!) children learn to appreciate and understand the importance of healthy eating across a wide variety of food.

Our centre offers seasonal whole food-based menus – created to delight the fussiest eaters.

Hi my name is Christine, and I am the Centre Manager here at Community Kids Springvale South. I began my career in early childhood education and care in 2000 and started working at  in 2000. I hold a Diploma in Children Services as well as an Advanced Diploma in Children Services. Then many years later G8 Education gave us the opportunity to continue studying and to complete the Diploma of Leadership and management. The reason I have stayed in this field is because of my positive experiences, the networks and friendships I have made and most importantly working alongside children.

I can proudly say that we do not have a staff turnover and that we have great relationships with each other, and we all have the same goal which is giving the children the best opportunity to learn and grow. I am still continuing to learn and I enjoy mentoring the team towards making the service known as one of the best within the community.

Children learn many things while being in care. For example, relationships and communication, having discussions about feelings and how to act, respecting others, learning about what is in our community and how to help the community. It is important that children are able to socialise and gain relationships with other children and adults that are not within their family circle.

We have a very multicultural team who are dedicated and passionate about their job. We consider ourselves very lucky to be working with children. We want children to feel comfortable and be able to express how their feeling at all times.

We have a good reputation due to building strong relationships with families. Throughout the year we celebrate morning teas giving families the opportunity to meet each other. We also like to provide snacks in the mornings and special treats in the afternoon for families. If children participate in cooking experiences during the day then this is shared with families in the afternoon. I am here to help families and children through orientation by being flexible and listening to their needs. We have staff here who can help translate if families prefer to speak their native languages.

I look forward to welcoming you to .
