Kindergarten Program

Our dedicated and qualified teachers and educators nurture healthy minds and bodies, celebrating each child’s individual strengths to support their participation and growth towards their full potential. We co-design vibrant learning communities with children, families, and communities, ensuring your C&K centre is a place where your child feels safe, makes friends, and belongs.

Our indoor and outdoor spaces ignite imaginations and foster curiosity, allowing children to explore, experiment, play, and learn. Educators are open to your child’s ideas and will guide their social and emotional growth. Your child will have opportunities to explore, solve problems, develop friendships, use their creativity, and play. We also prepare children for the transition to school and a lifelong love of learning.

All C&K community kindergartens and childcare centres deliver a government-approved kindergarten program.

Infant and Toddler Approach

C&K has developed a specialized infant and toddler approach, guiding the care and education of our youngest learners. Our warm and professional educators "slow down" to be in the moment with your child as they explore the world. We focus on developing deep, trusting relationships with each baby and toddler, ensuring they feel safe, happy, and secure through consistent routines and rituals.

Babies and toddlers are naturally curious about the world, and we delight in sharing their sense of wonder.

Play-Based Learning at C&K

Play-based learning at C&K reflects the children, educators, families, and communities at each centre. Our teachers and educators enrich and extend children’s play in meaningful ways. For example, if a child is playing in the sandpit, an educator might encourage them to draw maps in the sand or measure water levels, supporting literacy and numeracy development.

Programs at C&K centres may also include:

Nature Play: Time to play freely outdoors, connect with nature, and use natural materials.

Risky Play: Safe exploration of questions like "Can this branch take my weight?" under expert supervision.

STEM: Inquiry-based experiences incorporating Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics.

Literacy and Language: Talking, reading, conversing, drawing, and playing with open-ended materials.

The Arts: Exploring creativity through visual arts, drama, music, movement, and a variety of materials.

First Nations Peoples' Histories and Perspectives: Learning about and respecting the connections to land, sea, and sky in all our programs.

About the Curriculum

About the Curriculum

C&K has developed a Infant and Toddler Approach which informs the way we care for and educate our babies and toddlers. Our philosophy for this age is to “slow down” and be in the moment with your child as they learn and explore the world. We focus on developing a deep and trusting relationship with each child.

All C&K childcare centres deliver C&K's Quality Kindergarten Program. Kindergarten, also known as pre-prep or preschool, is a program for children who are turning 4 by June 30 in the year before they attend school. C&K’s kindy programs are government-approved and led by experienced and university qualified teachers. Our program supports children’s curiosity, creativity, problem solving, resilience and real-world knowledge and skills.

At C&K we know that children do not learn in isolation, learning is a collaborative process between teachers, educators, children and families. At C&K we believe children are powerful learners, active citizens, thinkers and theorisers - this is at the heart of our early childhood curriculum. We've designed our indoor and outdoor spaces to ignite imaginations and nurture healthy minds and bodies. Learning through play is an integral part of our education program.

Our educators skilfully enrich and extend on children's play experiences, creating a learning program that is tailored and meaningful for your child. Our Education Program

C&K's early childhood curriculum, Listening and Learning Together:

C&K Curriculum Approach, serves children from birth to five years old across all our kindergartens and childcare centres. This approach aligns with The Early Years Learning Framework for Australia (EYLF) and the Queensland Kindergarten Learning Guideline (QKLG), integrating contemporary practices and understandings of the early years.

Our educators skillfully partner with children and families to create caring and vibrant learning communities. In the year before school, university-qualified teachers guide and support children to become curious, capable, and collaborative learners. For children from birth to three, our infant and toddler approach focuses on slowing down and being present as they explore the world.

At C&K, we see children from birth as thinkers and theorisers, rich in ideas and knowledge, powerful learners, and active citizens. We work with an anti-bias curriculum to promote fairness, empowerment, and respect, modeling equity and inclusion. We honor every child’s right to play, build on their existing learning from home, and provide foundations for lifelong learning.

C&K Kelvin Grove is a truly wonderful childcare centre. From the very first day, the staff warmly welcome children, creating a safe and nurturing environment where they feel at home. The team is caring and genuinely contributes to each child’s growth and early learning journey. The educators are lively, engaging, and always supportive, making learning fun and meaningful. What stands out most is the way different cultures are embraced and celebrated, fostering an environment of respect and inclusion for all. It’s a place where children not only learn but also grow with confidence, kindness, and appreciation for diversity.

We toured MANY childcare centres and nothing came close to C&K Kelvin Grove. A small centre, inclusive and diverse, where every educator knows every child's name, and plenty of space to play outside. Those were very important aspects to me and I was honestly starting to think I'd never find somewhere that ticked all the boxes... Then I walked in here for a tour and it immediately felt different to everywhere else I'd been. When I saw the resources, the kids' artwork everywhere, the focus on social and emotional development with a big emphasis on belonging, the educators speaking to the children in the same affirming way as we use at home, I was so impressed! Add in that all meals and snacks are freshly made on site and they go to such an effort to celebrate special days reflecting the many cultures of the children and educators - it is a beautiful place to play and learn. My daughter has attended for almost three years now, and transitions between rooms are so well planned and smooth, any incidents are promptly and clearly reported, and the one issue I've raised with the Director was investigated on the spot(!) and a plan made to manage the situation going forward - which quickly resolved the problem. They arrange incredible incursions and experiences during the day, and have even held evening Halloween parties, an Art Show, and information nights on OT and speech pathology for parents to learn what to look out for. This level of parent and carer inclusion and interaction makes it a community, not just a daycare centre. I could go on and on but, in short, I wholeheartedly recommend C&K KG!!
