Our son has been with Michelle since he was 9 months old and we've all learnt so much with her guidance and teaching. She is caring yet sets firm boundaries that he continues at home, making things so much easier for us. ("Sit back in your car seat! Hold the bowl with your other hand") He tends to be more of a shy personality and we thought he wouldn't do well in a big centre so chose family day care. We also wanted to avoid the germs of a large centre while he was young. Our son has really blossomed and gained so many skills with Michelle. She's done activities with him I never would've done with him at home (many arts and crafts and baking, to name a few) He's been taken out to art exhibitions, playgroup, aged care homes for visits, the library and her home has pets (that we don't have at home) so he can learn how to behave safely around animals. Nothing phases Michelle, we were so reassured by her years of experience-her own 4 boys are testament to the super-Mum she is. It really helped us as first-time parents to have her being our sounding board for all sorts of things from teething to illness to challenging behaviours. Our son stopped napping during the day at her childcare and she took that in her stride. He was terrified by a fire alarm in the library one day and she managed that really well too. We're only leaving as it's time for him to go to a bigger centre now but he's settled in really well there, mostly because of how well Michelle has prepared him. It's only now we've been at a bigger centre, that I realise how well Michelle communicates with us every day. She puts in a lot of detail into the kids' daily updates and that is really reassuring for us as parents. I can't recommend her highly enough.
