Centre philosophy

Centre philosophy

Montessori education is a personalised approach developed by Dr Maria Montessori, proven successful for over a century. It tailors learning to each child's style, stage, and interests, fostering academic and well-being foundations through hands-on experiences and real-world problem-solving. Montessori educators observe children's interests and guide them toward relevant materials for purposeful and engaging learning. This method acknowledges diverse learning paces and preferences, promoting respect, independence, and freedom for children to direct their own learning, leading to high motivation and a love for learning.

About the curriculum

About the curriculum

The curriculum at Montessori Academy follows a blended approach, drawing on both Montessori principles and the Early Years Learning Framework. The curriculum follows five key learning areas:

  • Practical Life: exercises and activities that children observe in daily life to develop their independence, concentration and fine motor skills.
  • Sensorial: activities that help to refine the senses and lay the foundation of early mathematics, language and geometry.
  • Mathematics: hands on experiences that teach both abstract and concrete mathematical concepts.
  • Language: exercises that help the children to develop their vocabulary and understanding of language.
  • Cultural Studies: children learn about culture and community through subjects such as Geography, Botany, Zoology, Science, History, Music and Art.

The educators use Montessori materials to teach the curriculum and tailor the learning to each individual child.

Centre philosophy

Centre philosophy

Montessori early learning centres differ from conventional preschools and childcare facilities. They create an ideal learning environment, offer customized educational materials, and provide guidance to support holistic child development. Montessori education is active, adaptable to each child's pace, encourages self-correction, and aligns with individual interests. Its overarching objective is to equip children with the knowledge and abilities needed for lifelong learning, fostering confidence, independence, and a thirst for knowledge.

Centre philosophy

Centre philosophy

Many families choose Montessori Academy because it aligns with their parenting style, beliefs about early childhood education, and their child's future aspirations. Those with a 'Montessori Mindset' believe in their children's immense capabilities and equally prioritize their well-being and academics.

Selecting the right early education provider involves finding a place, people, and program that truly resonates with your family. Families choosing Montessori Academy place a high value on early childhood education and seek the best possible start in life for their child.

I had a great time at Croydon Montessori Academy. The educators are truly passionate about their work and bring a positive attitude into the classroom every day. Their communication with children and families is clear, warm, and supportive, which helps create a welcoming and trusting environment. The centre offers a variety of different activities that are thoughtfully planned to support children’s independence, curiosity, and development. From practical life tasks to sensory exploration and Montessori materials, the educators make sure every child is engaged and learning in meaningful ways. The team genuinely cares for each child, and you can trust that your child is being cared for in a safe, nurturing, and encouraging setting. I highly recommend Croydon Montessori Academy to families looking for passionate educators, strong communication, and a rich variety of activities for their children!😊

I as a student did my placement recently here from June to July 2025 and I'd definitely say that this is one of the best centre that I've seen. Not only it is well maintained but the quality of service it provides is unmatched if compared to various other centres, even within Montessori Academy itself I would rank it in a very high regard. I had the most fantastic time here with all the staffs and children, they follow proper Montessori techniques and apply the theory in a way that is meaningful. Miss Alisha is one of the most knowledgeable Centre Manager that I've met, all the discussion we've had has left a lasting impression on my mind and a very positive one. I have seen Miss Alisha and rest of the staffs here at Croydon Montessori Academy have a positive and a very transparent relationship with the families and their ability to connect with the children throughout the day and the love they provide is something even I want my children to feel. With very apt and competent Room leaders and staffs adhering to all the safety requirements no wonder this centre is rated Exceeding NQS in child safety area. I would definitely recommend it to parents thinking about enrolling their children here. I thank everyone in the centre for the love and warmth they showed me during my placement there and all the guidance they've provided certainly helped and their eagerness to help me even after leaving the centre is something that has stood out to me. When I start my career in this field I wish my workplace to be as great as Croydon Montessori Academy if it's not actually Croydon Montessori Academy 😄. Thank you and I will miss all of you. ❤️❤️

We’ve been at Croydon Montessori for a few years now, and I couldn’t be happier with the experience. My son comes home all the time having learnt something new, often things I haven’t even thought to teach him myself! The teachers are incredibly caring and patient, and I really feel like they know my child as an individual. They take the time to update me if he’s been helpful, cheeky, caring, naughty (whatever it may be) and it shows how much attention they give each child. If he’s ever sick or sad, they spend one-on-one time with him and go above and beyond to make sure he’s supported. The centre manager, Ms Alicia, is wonderful. She’s kind, involved, and often personally shares updates at pick-up, which I really value. Yes, the centre is the oldest of the Montessori group and could probably use a bit of a facelift for adult eyes. But honestly, the kids don’t care. The rooms are spacious and clean, the outdoor area is fantastic, and what matters most is that it’s such a positive, structured (but not overly rigid) environment for the children. I love that they embrace Montessori learning but also allow for things like imaginary play — it’s the best of both worlds. One of the things I appreciate most is the low staff turnover. My son has had the same teachers the whole time he’s been there, and that consistency says a lot about how well the centre is run. Overall, it’s the teachers and staff who make this place so special. They are genuinely lovely, nurturing people who care deeply about the children. I feel confident sending my son here and would recommend Croydon Montessori to any parent looking for a centre that puts kids first
