About the Curriculum

About the Curriculum

“Let the child be the scriptwriter, director and the actor in their own play” - Magda Gerber

Nursery Space: 6 weeks – 2 years

Learning starts from before birth, and our Educators have created a welcoming and nurturing nursery environment where each baby feels safe to explore and discover new things - through their senses, their communication and cues (body language, facial expression and sounds) and through experimentation. On any given day you can see the nursery children engaging in all types of play including sensory play, music time, story time and more. Every day provides a brand new, exciting adventure for our babies to support their development, learning and wellbeing.

Toddler Space: 2 - 3 years

Our teachers and educators encourage the children to learn through play to help enhance their sensory-motor development. This happens through carefully planned music, dance, games, role playing and reading experiences.

On any given day the Toddlers can be seen developing their numeracy by building a tower, sorting objects, pointing and identifying shapes and patterns and participating in counting songs and games.

Children in our toddler space are encouraged to participate in group play. Group play is important as it helps our toddlers develop important social skills such as, turn-taking, developing self-confidence and emotional self-regulation. Our skilled team helps children through talking, planning and role modelling.

Preschool Space: 3 – 6 years

Preschool is a unique time for learning with peers and developing skills for later learning including confidence and curiosity, important skills for starting school. Our play-based program has school readiness at its core, encouraging active engagement in learning and supporting a range of positive developmental outcomes including resilience, independence, critical thinking and creativity.

The oral language supports literacy learning and a child’s oral language ability is the best predictor for later success in learning to read and write. Hearing the sounds within a language is the first critical step for all literacy learning. Our team supports our Preschool children's literacy development by engaging in rich discussions, reading, storytelling, dramatic play and experimentation all of which introduce new vocabulary as part of everyday conversations.

Throughout the Preschool year, children use their language to share ideas, ask questions, express themselves, and connect with peers and adults in social settings.

Social-emotional skills, including the ability to self-regulate emotions, are supported through group learning experiences. Our team supports each child’s social and emotional development by labelling and talking about emotions and supporting appropriate responses as together, they engage in new and challenging situations. Our goal in the Preschool year is to prepare children and families for a smooth transition to primary school.

Health and Nutrition

Health and Nutrition

Our centre chef prepares and cooks nutritious meals daily, catering to the unique dietary requirements of every child. We believe that by encouraging active participation (such as growing their own fruit and vegetables, preparing, and finally cooking!) children learn to appreciate and understand the importance of healthy eating across a wide variety of food.

Our centre offers seasonal whole food-based menus – created to delight the fussiest eaters.

Meet the team

Meet the team

Hi, my name is Hayley, and I am the Centre Manager here at Bambinos Bowral Street. I strive to create an environment where children feel safe, valued, and empowered to reach their full potential.

I have been working in early childhood education since 2017 and joined Bambinos Kindergarten Bowral Street the same year. I am passionate about supporting children during the most important years of their development.

One of the things I love most about working in early childhood education is witnessing those “light bulb” moments when a child learns something new, masters a skill, or makes an exciting discovery. Being part of those moments and watching children grow in confidence and capability is incredibly rewarding. My passion is helping children feel supported, encouraged, and confident as they learn and grow. I strive to create an environment where children feel safe, valued, and empowered to reach their full potential.

Throughout my career, I have learned that every child is different and that building strong relationships is the key to supporting their individual needs. This understanding guides my approach by helping me get to know each child, understand how they learn best, and create meaningful opportunities that support their development.

While children learn so much at home, an early learning centre provides additional opportunities to develop social skills, build friendships, and experience a wide range of activities and learning experiences they may not encounter elsewhere. Our centre has a small, close-knit team, which allows us to build strong relationships with one another as well as with the children and families in our care. We work collaboratively to create a warm, welcoming, and supportive environment where every child can thrive.

Building strong relationships with families is very important to me. I believe open communication is key, and I make it a priority to greet families by name and create opportunities for genuine conversations. By fostering trust, respect, and open communication, we create strong partnerships that support the best outcomes for children.

We’ve had such a lovely start at Bambino’s Bowral Street. I’m new to the area and was honestly a little nervous, but from the first interaction we felt so welcomed. Anne has been so incredibly helpful and kind, and you can genuinely tell she cares and loves what she does. That same warmth flows through the whole team. Every staff member we’ve met has been encouraging, positive and so lovely with my little girl. She’s already been warmly welcomed, and hearing such good things about her fitting in has meant more to me than I can say. We’re really looking forward to the months ahead and feel so grateful to have found this centre 💛

We enrolled our child here, but unfortunately had to withdraw due to a change in living circumstances. Bambinos was notified well prior to the proposed start date, and their policy dictates that only a small deposit would be lost, however they still charged us a full week of fees. After multiple emails, multiple calls and multiple promises that the refund would be processed, a month later and we are still waiting. We have now had to go through our bank to get our money back. Very disappointed.

The staff have been great with our son especially at drop off time when he misses us the most. It's great seeing the updates throughout the day so we can have conversations when it comes to pick up time and the drive home.

Bambinos Bowral Street is the most wonderful long daycare. I had both my children attend from a young age til attending primary school. The educators in my opinion are the best in the Southern Highlands. They went above and beyond in the development of my child's school readiness. She went from being introvert who rarely had the confidence to participate in activities or play with others to having the ability to contribute in group activities and confidence to play well with others. The educators set her development goals and exceeded even their own expectations as well as my own. I cannot highly recommend the centre enough. Wonderful learning environment and the best staff.
