Kindergarten/Preschool Programs

Kindergarten/Preschool Programs

At Grand Oaks Early Learning Centre we understand that your child’s kindergarten year is an important one and the skills, knowledge and friendships they develop throughout this time will support them through their schooling years and beyond. When your child attends a kindergarten within a long day care setting they receive uninterrupted and extended learning which facilitates maximum growth and development.

Under the guided wing of our Early Childhood Teachers, the kinder groups 3 and 4 years, develop their independence, self-help, social and academic skills in a structured and supportive environment. Our innovative and emergent programs allow the children to contribute to the development of the curriculum which is guided by individual and group interests. In support of the learning outcomes we seek for every child, the kinder group also participate in many intentional teaching experiences throughout the year such as water safety, road safety, school readiness, literacy and numeracy projects, cooking, pet awareness responsibility, health and hygiene, and many more.

Our formal kindergarten program operates every day between 8.30am- 4.30pm and provides for the recommended minimum of 15 hours per child (for those that attend 2 or more days). Normal long day care programs and routines operate outside the kindergarten hours.

Health and Nutrition

Health and Nutrition

Our centre chef prepares and cooks healthy and nutritious meals daily, catering to the unique dietary requirements of every child - such as gluten and dairy free, halal vegetarian and so on.

Our menus change seasonally. We believe that by encouraging active participation such as growing their own fruit and vegetables, preparing, and finally cooking it, the children learn to appreciate and understand the importance of healthy eating. We have our achievement program stamp for healthy eating.

Programs

Programs

At Grand Oaks Early Learning Centre we understand children begin their learning journey from the moment they are born and the first eight years of a child’s life is considered fundamental in establishing core values, sense of identity, and self-worth. We believe parents and families are the first educator and our role as Educators is to facilitate a collaborative and supportive approach throughout your child’s developmental and learning journey.

Our educational philosophies are under-pinned by the play-based learning opportunities in natural and responsive environments. Our learning programs are designed to be emergent in nature and, through reflective practices, are guided by the children’s interests and needs.

I have been sending my girls to Mayfield for almost a year now and have since recommended them to all my parent friends and family who are looking for a centre for their little one's. The staff are fantastic, friendly, communicative, and truly take care of your babies like one of their own. I was super impressed with their learning modules and plans as well (past teacher here), and my girls love going to childcare each week. We're looking forward to many more years here.

No words can express how awful this day care centres is, FIRSTLY I picked up my 3yo with poor in her nappy more then 6 times in 3 months causing of coarse nappy rash which she had lucky to of never had before this THEN they reported me to DHS after reporting they smelt alcohol on my breath- I am 38 and one wine with a friend for her 40th bday before I picked her up from the centre. I understand protocols however this was a one off incident and I was perfectly sober (takes this Scottish gal a LOT more to get drunk) and thats what felt like had condemned me as. Worst part is i fit along with the main reception staff perfectly but highly insulted as it was blown out of proportion completely. Also a number of marks on 3yo that were unexplained, not reported and no notice given- they also have to lock the centre down from all the junkies that come up for the community cupboard to take free things only meant for the centre patrons.

Thank you all so much for the wonderful care you’ve given my son. He’s created so many special memories during his time at this childcare, and we are truly grateful for the love and support you’ve shown him. Every one of you has been amazing your dedication, kindness, and hard work have made such a positive impact on his early years. You’re all doing an incredible job, and we deeply appreciate everything you do. Thank you again, I’m sure my son is going to miss his teachers and friends very much.
