My professional experience is a successful 13 years of running my own FDC, teaching and caring for children from 0 to 12 years. As an ECT, I work at providing an engaging, child-focused, emergent curriculum, guided by our frameworks, theories and pedagogies that resonate with my philosophy. I endeavour each day to ensure that the key principles and aspects that underpin my philosophy are duly demonstrated In my practice.
My pedagogy and teaching philosophy are greatly influenced by Loris Malaguzzi and the Reggio Emilia educational program. The curriculum I offer my children are highly based on their interests and is child-centred. All children are made involved in their learning, co-constructing with me a curriculum which offers rich and meaningful learning experiences for them to support their knowledge and wellbeing.
My FDC service caters to neurodiverse learners with a range of strengths and challenges. Inclusive and special education are both strong interests making them a priority in my service, enabling me to pursue continuous learning for further professional development useful to my practice. I am clinically trained to provide early intervention using the Social Thinking Methodology, DIRFloortime and the Zones of Regulation in my teaching practice with all my learners.
My early childhood education service has a strong commitment to providing high quality child care where the needs of all the children and families enrolled are met. It is a priority for me to provide a safe, nurturing environment, giving respect to the families' cultural differences and diversity, philosophy and the child's own identity, strengths and challenges.
