Nurture One is absolutely amazing! The staff are incredibly helpful, friendly, and always go above and beyond to support my children. It’s clear how much they care, and it really shows in everything they do. My kids absolutely love going there—it’s honestly a struggle to get them to come home! 😆 I couldn’t ask for a better place for them to grow and thrive.

Kindergarten/Preschool Programs

Kindergarten/Preschool Programs

Our Centre offers the Victorian Government-approved ‘Kinder: Best Start, Best Life’ program for 3–4-year-olds, providing 15 hours per week of funded Kindergarten. This program supports children’s learning, development, and well-being, setting them up for future success.

From 2026, all G8 Education-funded kindergarten programs can provide Pre-Prep to eligible children from priority cohorts across the state for up to 25 hours per week.

Evidence shows that 2 years of early childhood education has a stronger positive effect on children who need extra support, giving them more time to deepen their learning experience with teachers and educators.

Priority cohort children are identified as any of the below:

  • Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander children
  • Children from a refugee or asylum seeker background
  • Children who have had contact with Child Protection
  • Children who were supported by Early Start Kindergarten (ESK) or Access to Early Learning (AEL) in their Three-Year-Old Kindergarten year.

Our Enhanced Learning Program for Kindergarten children focuses on:

  • Numeracy & Literacy: Developing key skills for lifelong learning.
  • Self-Regulation: Fostering emotional control and resilience.
  • Social & Emotional Development: Supporting independence and building healthy relationships.
  • Creativity & Problem-Solving: Encouraging curiosity and critical thinking.

With extended hours and a year-round program (excluding public holidays), our Kindergarten program is delivered by qualified Early Childhood Teachers committed to supporting your child’s individual development.

Additional Benefits Include:

  • Government subsidy: Further reduces out-of-pocket Kinder fees in addition to your eligible Childcare Subsidy (CCS).
  • Personalised Learning Plans: Tailored to your child’s unique needs.
  • Rhythm and Resilience Program: Music and movement to improve emotional regulation.
  • School Readiness: Preparing your child for a smooth transition to school.

We also engage with local schools and provide transition statements, ensuring your child feels confident and prepared for the next steps in their education journey. Stay connected with your child’s progress via our Xplor platform, which offers regular updates on their learning and development.

About the Curriculum

About the Curriculum

“Let the child be the scriptwriter, director and the actor in their own play” - Magda Gerber

Nursery Space: 6 weeks – 2 years

Learning starts from before birth, and our Educators have created a welcoming and nurturing nursery environment where each baby feels safe to explore and discover new things - through their senses, their communication and cues (body language, facial expression and sounds) and by experimenting. On any given day you can see the nursery children engaging in all types of play, water play, music time, story time and more. Every day provides a brand new, exciting adventure for our babies to support their development, learning and wellbeing!

Toddler Space: 2 - 3 years

Our teachers and educators encourage the children to learn through play to help enhance their sensory-motor development. This happens through carefully planned music, dance, games and reading experiences.

On any given day the Toddler children can be seen developing their numeracy by building a tower, sorting objects, pointing and identifying shapes and patterns and participating in counting songs and games.

Children in our toddler space are encouraged to participate in group play. Group play is important as it helps our toddlers develop important social skills such as, turn taking, developing self confidence and emotional self regulation. Our team helps children through talking, planning and role modelling.

Kindergarten Space: 3 – 6 years

Kindergarten is a unique time for learning with peers and developing skills for later learning including confidence and curiosity, important skills for starting school. Our play-based program encourages active engagement in learning and supports a range of positive developmental outcomes including resilience, independence, critical thinking and creativity.

The oral language supports literacy learning. A child’s oral language ability is the best predictor for later success in learning to read and write. Hearing the sounds within a language is the first critical step for all literacy learning. Our team supports our Kindergarten children's development by engaging in rich discussions, introducing new vocabulary as part of everyday conversations, as well as singing, playing games, and reading with the children daily.

Throughout the Kindergarten year, children use their language to share ideas, ask questions, express themselves, and connect with peers and adults in social settings.

Social-emotional skills, including the ability to self-regulate emotions, is supported through group learning environments. Our team supports each child’s social and emotional development by labelling and talking about emotions and supporting appropriate responses as together, they engage in new and challenging situations. Lastly, ensuring that all children are ready for the ‘big school’ by preparing them for all that ‘big school’ has to offer.

Health and Nutrition

Health and Nutrition

Our centre chef prepares and cooks healthy and nutritious meals daily, catering to the unique dietary requirements of every child. We believe that by encouraging active participation (such as growing their own fruit and vegetables, preparing, and finally cooking!) children learn to appreciate and understand the importance of healthy eating.

Our centre offers children nutrient-rich, unprocessed, and seasonal whole foods – created to delight the fussiest eaters.

Meet the team

My name is Jodie, and I am the Centre Manager at Nurture One Children’s Centre Kilmore. I have been working in early childhood education since 2000. I have been working at Nurture One Kilmore since 2018. I currently hold an advanced diploma in community sector management. During my time in early education, I have gained experience working with children across all ages from birth to 5 years before commencing as an assistant centre manager and centre manager.

I began working as an educator at 18 years old. I had always enjoyed playing with young children so chose Early Education as my career path. What I did not recognise at the time was, that love was a passion for advocating for your children, giving them opportunities to learn, grow, question, and explore in safe and inclusive environments.

One of my key takeaways from my time in the industry is that children learn the best when they feel safe, secure, and supported. Children can thrive when they are recognised as capable, and they are valued and respected. When we build strong relationships with children and their families this gives us a strong foundation to begin their learning journey. All children have inbuilt curiosity and potential which I believe is fostered through play based learning and respectful and trusted relationships with both children and their families.

My teaching style involves prioritising forming trusting relationships with children and their families, show respect in our interactions and genuinely enjoy engaging with children and learning alongside them.

The benefits associated with having your child enrolled in our early childhood education and care setting is giving them the opportunity to engage with early childhood professionals who are dedicated to guiding them in their learning and development through play-based curriculum that is engaging and fun.

At the centre we have an incredibly long standing, and dedicated team of Early Childhood teachers and educators who show passion and enthusiasm for teaching your children. Our team works very hard to ensure quality education and care is provided through our program which is based on the children’s interests and family input. We value the importance of strong relationships with our families and communities and work alongside each other to provide the best outcomes for the children in our care.

We build strong relationships with our families by earning their trust and respect through open and honest communication. We understand that starting at a new centre can be overwhelming. From the first inquiry, we make sure that we address all your questions. We walk families through all the forms and administration that needs to be done. This includes explaining the childcare subsidy and activity tests, government caps, centre schedules, our menu and more. I believe that when you walk into our well-resourced centre, meet the educators, and see our beautiful natural outdoor spaces you will know that this place is the place for your child to grow and learn.

Having moved to Kilmore in the second half of 2024 and trying the main big childcare in town which my 5 year old didn't love we tried Nurture One (really the only other childcare in town). As my child was only going to be there for a few months before starting school I didn't have high expectations - but was honestly blown away. Carla and the other teachers in the 'big kids room' are amazing and managed to make connections with my child in VERY quickly (which always is a huge help at drop offs). The childcare is relaxed, playful and not scared to let the kids explore outside and get a little messy. The teachers are amazing, so patient, understanding and work together as a great team. It feels similar to what I imagine an 'at home daycare' would be like, very homey. Thank you to the teachers in the big room for welcoming my child and giving us a wonderful end to this phase of my child's life!!!
