  • Environmental and social sustainability learning experiences.
  • Personalised learning plans for each child.
  • Local school connections.

We focus on strong family partnerships through regular learning and development conversations with your child’s lead educator, learning showcases, and in-centre family events. Our Xplor app provides real-time updates and learning summaries daily to keep you informed on your child’s journey.

About the Curriculum

About the Curriculum

“Let the child be the scriptwriter, director and the actor in their own play” - Magda Gerber

Nursery Space: 6 weeks – 2 years

Learning starts from before birth, and our Educators have created a welcoming and nurturing nursery environment where each baby feels safe to explore and discover new things - through their senses, their communication and cues (body language, facial expression and sounds) and through experimentation. On any given day you can see the nursery children engaging in all types of play including sensory play, music time, story time and more. Every day provides a brand new, exciting adventure for our babies to support their development, learning and wellbeing.

Toddler Space: 2 - 3 years

Our teachers and educators encourage the children to learn through play to help enhance their sensory-motor development. This happens through carefully planned music, dance, games, role playing and reading experiences.

On any given day the Toddlers can be seen developing their numeracy by building a tower, sorting objects, pointing and identifying shapes and patterns and participating in counting songs and games.

Children in our toddler space are encouraged to participate in group play. Group play is important as it helps our toddlers develop important social skills such as, turn-taking, developing self-confidence and emotional self-regulation. Our skilled team helps children through talking, planning and role modelling.

Kindergarten Space: 3 – 6 years

Kindergarten is a unique time for learning with peers and developing skills for later learning including confidence and curiosity, important skills for starting school. Our play-based program has school readiness at its core, encouraging active engagement in learning and supporting a range of positive developmental outcomes including resilience, independence, critical thinking and creativity.

The oral language supports literacy learning and a child’s oral language ability is the best predictor for later success in learning to read and write. Hearing the sounds within a language is the first critical step for all literacy learning. Our team supports our Kindergarten children's literacy development by engaging in rich discussions, reading, storytelling, dramatic play and experimentation all of which introduce new vocabulary as part of everyday conversations.

Throughout the Kindergarten year, children use their language to share ideas, ask questions, express themselves, and connect with peers and adults in social settings.

Social-emotional skills, including the ability to self-regulate emotions, are supported through group learning experiences. Our team supports each child’s social and emotional development by labelling and talking about emotions and supporting appropriate responses as together, they engage in new and challenging situations. Our goal in the kindergarten year is to prepare children and families for a smooth transition to primary school.

Health and Nutrition

Health and Nutrition

Our centre chef prepares and cooks nutritious meals daily, catering to the unique dietary requirements of every child. We believe that by encouraging active participation (such as growing their own fruit and vegetables, preparing, and finally cooking!) children learn to appreciate and understand the importance of healthy eating across a wide variety of food.

Our centre offers seasonal whole food-based menus – created to delight the fussiest eaters.

Hi, my name is Lisa, and I am the Centre Manager here at Casa Bambini Essendon. I began my career in early childhood education and care in 2012 and transferred to Casa Bambini Essendon in late 2023. I hold a Diploma in Early Childhood Education and Care and am trained in Child Protection and First Aid, including additional Epilepsy training. Throughout my time in the early childhood sector, I have undertaken various roles, including student, assistant educator, lead educator, cook, assistant centre manager, educational leader, and centre manager. These roles have given me a comprehensive understanding of how a service operates and what is needed to provide children with the highest quality of care.

At Casa Bambini Essendon, we have a dedicated team, with some educators having been here for 15 years, who consider this place their home. Our team is culturally and linguistically diverse, giving us a deep understanding of the cultural needs of children and allowing us to celebrate special cultural events with great knowledge. We send out an events calendar throughout the year for families to provide regular feedback and ideas for cultural celebrations. Community involvement is a significant focus for us at Casa Bambini Essendon. We love taking local excursions with our six-seat pram to cafes, parks, supermarkets, and more.

To ensure a smooth transition into our service, we offer families as many orientations as needed to feel comfortable and to help their child feel safe, secure, and supported from their first day. Many of our team members have children of their own, giving us firsthand experience with the journey of childcare and early learning. We are proud to offer support and referrals, whether it’s helping families enrol, apply for the Child Care Subsidy, or providing tips for fussy eaters or toilet learning. We are here to help!

My child is having a great experience here at Casa Bambini. The staff always makes sure that the children have the best time while they are at the service. I am always greeted with a great smile in the morning. Management listens with respect if I have any concerns about my child and try their best to help me.My child will come home and tell me that he had a lot of fun at the centre. Thanks everyone for making my child’s experience so special.

I have had my child here since the start of the year. I am a bit disheartened at the reviews I have read because that is not my experience here. When enrolling my child I was worried about their behaviour. Not only did they have an expert come out to observe her, they have been working with me on ways to manage it. When I need support for drop off or other things at home, I feel as though I can approach any staff member and there is follow through. The food I have seen served has been of high quality and in my opinion delicious. My child doesn’t have many food issues, but there have been times they have refused food and staff have been more than willing to accomodate them with other healthy choices. The staff are friendly and always willing to have a chat. The program seems defined in their room. I was initially worried that my child’s needs with literacy and writing won’t be met as they had a desire to start to write their name and read simple words and I was told they wouldn’t focus on that. One month later, they have written their own name and can do others now. I believe they are meeting my child where they are at. I am always impressed by the random conversations we have on the way home when they describe their interactions with the staff during activity time. Even describing what has been said to the other children and to them when they are having a hard time managing their emotions. Overall, I think this is a great program and the staff are holding accountable to their actions and behaviours around the children. I also know they are doing professional development to support their teachers and carers develop their skills and have seen staff actively discuss safety and activity requirements between themselves. Thank you for taking care of my child.
