As a family new to Townsville, we chose this beautiful city with our one-year-old son in mind. We diligently researched, compared, and visited the childcare centres we'd heard great things about or felt were worth looking into, and choosing Green Leaves in Belgian Gardens was, without a doubt, the best decision we could have made.<br><br>​Though our son has been happily socialising and enjoying playdates since he was three months old, I still couldn't help but feel incredibly anxious and overwhelmed about his first day at daycare, especially being amidst the chaos of a massive interstate move.<br><br>​However, as I went through the entire process—meeting the team, seeing the beautiful ethos on display, and witnessing how thriving and content the children were—that anxiety slowly melted away. A lovely member of the team greeted us and took total control of the orientation process. She was so organised and reassuring at a time when I was feeling quite overwhelmed with my massive moving to-do list, on top of navigating my own feelings about dropping my son off. I loved how simple they made it for me; all I needed to bring was a drinking cup and a spare change of clothes, and they provided absolutely everything else.<br><br>​The centre’s beautiful philosophy is visible everywhere, but more importantly, you can truly feel it in the energy of the staff. They treat the children as if they were their own. The facilities are immaculate, spacious, and filled with fresh air, boasting a magnificent, big garden that our son absolutely loves.<br>​The team's flexibility and genuine dedication to our son's individual routine and milestones blew me away. I had emailed my worries prior to him starting, and their thoughtful responses immediately put me at ease. They kept me updated throughout the day with wonderful photos on the app, allowing me to actually sit back and relax.<br>​<br>When my husband and I returned at 4:00 PM, we looked through the window to find our son sitting perfectly at the table, eating like a total gentleman alongside the other children—a testament to their wonderful structure and the positive peer environment. When we walked in, he didn't cry at all; he just gave us a cheeky smile, a big hug, and immediately went back to playing. Even after a long day, he didn't want to leave! By day two, he recognised the educators' faces within a minute, completely secure in their loving energy and showing us just how well he was doing there.<br>​<br>We also love that they have an on-site chef and a massive focus on nutrition, ensuring the children are fuelled with the best meals.<br>​With myself preparing to return to work now, I feel like I can peacefully do so knowing my son is going to be completely okay. Finding Green Leaves feels like we have found our own trusted community. They will do whatever it takes to make a family feel comfortable and supported. My worst-case scenarios couldn't have been further from reality; this experience was better than I ever could have imagined, and I am incredibly grateful. If you’re looking for a daycare, this is the one you want to send your children to! After a terrible experience at another centre, we moved our son to Green Leaves at Belgian Gardens and couldn’t be happier. Our son went from screaming at drop off to running in excited to play as soon as we arrive. Any time I ask for changes to my child’s schedule, such as toileting or removing dummies, the team communicates seamlessly with all educators to ensure everything is followed through, regardless of who is in the room at the time. From the moment we walk in, Dani and Bec make us feel so welcomed and comfortable. I was initially worried about commencing full-time employment, but after seeing how all the wonderful educators treat my son as if he were their own, I now have complete peace of mind dropping him off every day. The facilities are always clean and tidy, and the team consistently plans new and exciting activities for the children. My son has absolutely thrived since starting at Green Leaves. When he began, he could only say “mum” and “dad,” and in such a short amount of time, he has developed a full vocabulary and is full of life and vibrant. I have been taking my daughter to Greenleaves Belgian Gardens 5 days a week since she was 11.5 months old. She is now almost 2 and absolutely loves going there. All the staff are super friendly and they actually seem genuinely excited to see her every morning, and they are still smiling at the end of the day when I pick her up. Sometimes at pick up time she doesn’t want to leave and wants me to just sit down and play because she’s having so much fun. I’m definitely not looking forward to having to find a new daycare when we move in 2027.

We couldn’t be happier with the care our child receives at Green Leaves Belgian Gardens. From the very first day, we felt completely reassured that we had made the right decision. We receive daily updates and photos, and the team is always available to talk through anything, big or small. It’s clear they value strong partnerships with families and truly understand the importance of working together to support a child’s growth. The centre itself is beautiful — clean, safe, and thoughtfully designed to spark curiosity and learning. There’s a wonderful mix of structured experiences and play-based exploration, and our child comes home each day full of stories and excitement. What we appreciate most is the genuine care. You can tell the educators love what they do, and that creates a nurturing and supportive environment where children feel safe, confident, and inspired. We’re so grateful to be part of the Green Leaves Belgian Gardens family and would absolutely recommend this centre to any parent looking for high-quality early childhood education and care.

My daughter and I adore Green Leaves Belgian Gardens! As a first time Mum, leaving my daughter was a scary thought, but the amazing team at Belgian Gardens have made it so much easier. Highly recommend this beautiful facility.
