I moved my son to Bluebird Waterford just over a year ago from our previous daycare. I have never regretted my decision. My son enjoys his days there, he's learning every day skills and I'm really seeing him blossom into a beautiful human. The educators have all been so wonderful. They genuinely care for the children and have built genuine rapport and bonds with my son. He trusts them and feels safe. All staff and children know my son's name. He is not just an attendee of Bluebird, we get a real sense of belonging when we walk through the doors. The food the children are served is just fantastic. My son almost always asks for extra at every snack and meal time at daycare. He does not eat like that at home!!! I don't stress so much now if he doesn't eat much at home and chooses to survive solely on raspberries and cheese as I know that 5days a week he eating delicious and nutritious meals. I also really love that the cook leaves out treats for the parents. It's a lovely little bonus. The director and assistant director have been fabulous, going out of their way to help me with issues I've had relating the CSS and doing research for me on a behavioural issue we've had. The rooms are always clean and welcoming and the whole daycare is so wonderfully set up with different play areas and equipment. Management are so friendly and super approachable. I've never had any issues at all. They have dental and hearing services out regularly which we have taken advantage of. It's been so convenient and easy. I've also attended an evening with a speech therapist which was so worthwhile. I learnt so much, was able to ask all my questions and feel confident in the road ahead for my son. Daycare workers don't have it easy, looking after children is hard. Dealing with parents is hard. I really truly appreciate Bluebird Waterford and all the staff. My little boy is so happy there, loves to have a cuddle with his educators and I really do feel supported by staff and management. I really can't recommend Bluebird Waterford enough.

Meet the team

Hello, my name is Bianca Kirkham and I am the Centre Manager here at Bluebird Waterford. I hold my Advanced Diploma and have been in the Early Childhood Sector for 25 years, 20 of these in Management positions.

I place value on Early Childhood and believe it is such an important part of your child’s life. I believe Early Education is the foundation for future success in life and that the first five years are what matter the most.

I believe children are competent, capable learners and active investigators. I believe children should be treated positively with their strengths nurtured and encouraged. Inclusive practises need to be implemented through collaboration methods, incorporating children’s, families’ and communities’ perspectives. To allow this I will ensure, allow and provide the opportunities for children to ‘just be’ – to explore, learn, grow and develop.

I believe that children have a right to: always feel and be safe, physically and emotionally, to be unique and to express their ideas and feelings naturally and freely – in a Service that is inclusive and facilitates positive learning through the environments created. Valuing and respecting the cultural and social context of children and their families.

Being a leader, role model and mentor creates a harmonious environment and ensures all team members feel valued and supported to reach their full potential – resulting in the Service reaching its full potential. As a leader, I focus on getting to know all of my team members and finding each of their strengths, continuing to develop and support these.

I believe families are the most important part of a child’s life, I really enjoy getting to know each and every person who walks through our door, ensuring they feel supported, acknowledged and respected.

I look forward to meeting you and your Family.

About the curriculum

About the curriculum

The Kindergarten program is a complete cycle of each individual child’s development. Educators see and learn the ways children take on new knowledge and adapt their teaching practices to cater for them. The environment is busy and forever changing as learning evolves. You’ll often find the Kinder children out at Forest School, where the natural environment is the teacher.

Through many literacy games, active outdoor play, and day-to-day activities, Educators strive to get each child ready for their first year of school, providing them with the emotional, physical and intellectual support.

Qualified Teachers constantly critically reflect on their curriculum, ensuring that it’s at its best for the diversity within the centre. A home away from home, where learning takes flight with the little Bluebirds.

Centre philosophy

Centre philosophy

Forest School Program - Each week the children will travel to a local national park or bushland area, where they will be able to play and explore freely, under the discrete observation of the educators.

Kindy of Kindness - Initiatives may include visits to aged care facilities, baking for the local emergency services, and fund-raising projects to assist charity groups.

Sustainability Program - By taking part in daily sustainable living practices including recycling, composting, worm farming, energy and water saving, the children develop a working understanding of how they can play a vital role in protecting the environment.

Community connections - By forging strong community ties they enable the children to develop a deep sense of belonging and connection to the world around them, construct an understanding of how society works, and begin to recognise and respect the shared values that unite us.

Technology focus - Technology is introduced through a play based approach. Educators role model and assist children to gain new knowledge and to better understand concepts through the designated computer programs.

Health & Nutrition

Health & Nutrition

The centre believes in a hands-on approach to teaching children about food, which is why cooking classes are offered as part of the curriculum.

Children are encouraged to help out where they can, whether that’s chopping fruit for smoothies or pouring them out for everyone.

Food is used as a way to teach children about identifying their needs and attending to them. Children can access drink stations and fruit bowls for a quick snack.

I couldn’t be happier with my son’s experience at this centre. From the moment you walk in, you’re greeted by kind, welcoming staff who genuinely care about the children and families they support. The educators consistently go above and beyond to create a safe, nurturing, and engaging environment, and it shows in how happy and comfortable my son is every day. I feel incredibly grateful to have found a place where my child is not only cared for but genuinely valued and supported. I highly recommend this centre to any parent looking for a safe, loving, and high-quality environment for their child.

Our time at Bluebird has been amazing. Our son has grown so much socially and emotionally since starting here. The educators are warm, welcoming and genuinely invested in our son's education and happiness, ensuring our son feels safe and connected while we aren't there. The environment is clean, safe, and welcoming. We are updated regularly on our child throughout his day, helping us feel connected and confident while we're away. I highly recommend this daycare to any parent looking.
