⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Goodstart Nelson Bay is truly exceptional. My son spent the last three years of his life at this centre, and I could not be more grateful for the love, care and support he received every single day. The entire team is incredibly caring, patient and dedicated to the children’s wellbeing. I still remember when I first arrived in Nelson Bay to work as a GP — I was welcomed so warmly by Mandy, and that kindness set the tone for everything that followed. From that moment, I knew my child was in the right place. A heartfelt thank you to Rosie, an amazing director whose support came exactly when my son needed it most. Her care was essential in helping him grow into a confident, kind little human. To Kathryn, Marta, Tara and Tara, Ginni, Hillita, Shatelle, Lena, and all the other wonderful teachers whose names I may not remember but whose impact I will never forget — thank you. Your patience, encouragement and love have shaped my son in the most beautiful way. I am forever grateful for every hug, every lesson, every moment of support. Our high-quality, play based preschool curriculum is delivered by Bachelor qualified Early Childhood Teachers. Our teachers tailor their programs to ensure all children develop the confidence and social and emotional skills needed for a smooth transition to school. Through play, our Early Childhood Teachers facilitate children’s learning of important language, literacy, numeracy and creative skills.

They develop trust so the children can feel safe and secure while at the centre. Parents are also encouraged to share their insights and feedback with educators to add depth to the relationship.

Hello there! My name is Mandy and I am the Centre Director at Goodstart Early Learning Child Care Centre Nelson Bay.
I have been working in the child care and early learning industry since 1984; I have been working in centres since 1991 and I have been a member of the Goodstart team since 2006. I have worked on the floor in both our toddler and pre school rooms before filling the role of Centre Director and I have gained experience in Queensland, New South Wales and Tasmania.
I have enjoyed switching between teaching and directing roles, believing this is a good way to keep current with best practise, share skills and most importantly have time to play!
Fundamental to my work as an Early Childhood Professional are some key elements to providing the highest quality of care and education to children, including:
- a focus on play based learning
- recognising children as unique people and learners
- working closely with families
- creating interesting, challenging and engaging play spaces

Our daughter’s thriving—more words, more independence, and always comes home smiling (or covered in paint… usually both). The staff are absolute pros. Friendly, switched on, and clearly know how to keep a room full of toddlers learning and happy. No complaints from us. Highly recommend.
