About the Curriculum

About the Curriculum

“Let the child be the scriptwriter, director and the actor in their own play” - Magda Gerber

Nursery Space: 6 weeks – 2 years

Learning starts from before birth, and our Educators have created a welcoming and nurturing nursery environment where each baby feels safe to explore and discover new things - through their senses, their communication and cues (body language, facial expression and sounds) and through experimentation. On any given day you can see the nursery children engaging in all types of play including sensory play, music time, story time and more. Every day provides a brand new, exciting adventure for our babies to support their development, learning and wellbeing.

Toddler Space: 2 - 3 years

Our teachers and educators encourage the children to learn through play to help enhance their sensory-motor development. This happens through carefully planned music, dance, games, role playing and reading experiences.

On any given day the Toddlers can be seen developing their numeracy by building a tower, sorting objects, pointing and identifying shapes and patterns and participating in counting songs and games.

Children in our toddler space are encouraged to participate in group play. Group play is important as it helps our toddlers develop important social skills such as, turn-taking, developing self-confidence and emotional self-regulation. Our skilled team helps children through talking, planning and role modelling.

Preschool Space: 3 – 6 years

Preschool is a unique time for learning with peers and developing skills for later learning including confidence and curiosity, important skills for starting school. Our play-based program has school readiness at its core, encouraging active engagement in learning and supporting a range of positive developmental outcomes including resilience, independence, critical thinking and creativity.

The oral language supports literacy learning and a child’s oral language ability is the best predictor for later success in learning to read and write. Hearing the sounds within a language is the first critical step for all literacy learning. Our team supports our Preschool children's literacy development by engaging in rich discussions, reading, storytelling, dramatic play and experimentation all of which introduce new vocabulary as part of everyday conversations.

Throughout the Preschool year, children use their language to share ideas, ask questions, express themselves, and connect with peers and adults in social settings.

Social-emotional skills, including the ability to self-regulate emotions, are supported through group learning experiences. Our team supports each child’s social and emotional development by labelling and talking about emotions and supporting appropriate responses as together, they engage in new and challenging situations. Our goal in the Preschool year is to prepare children and families for a smooth transition to primary school.

Health and Nutrition

Health and Nutrition

Our centre chef prepares and cooks nutritious meals daily, catering to the unique dietary requirements of every child. We believe that by encouraging active participation (such as growing their own fruit and vegetables, preparing, and finally cooking!) children learn to appreciate and understand the importance of healthy eating across a wide variety of food.

Our centre offers seasonal whole food-based menus – created to delight the fussiest eaters.

Hi, my name is Fouzia, and I am the Centre Manager at Casa Bambini South Plympton. I believe children thrive when they feel respected, supported, and encouraged, and I am passionate about helping them develop the confidence, skills, and resilience they need for life.

I have been working in early childhood education since 2018 and have had the opportunity to work in a variety of roles throughout my career. I have spent the past three years in leadership positions, supporting children, families, and educators to create positive and engaging learning environments. I am passionate about nurturing growing minds and creating safe, supportive foundations for children during their most important developmental years. Supporting children as they learn, grow, and develop confidence is what continues to inspire me in my work every day.

Throughout my career, I have learned that strong, secure, and respectful relationships are essential to children’s learning, development, and overall wellbeing. This understanding guides my approach to creating environments where children feel safe, valued, and supported to explore, learn, and build confidence in their abilities. I believe children thrive when they feel respected, supported, and encouraged, and I am passionate about helping them develop the confidence, skills, and resilience they need for life.

Early childhood education provides children with valuable opportunities to learn alongside their peers, helping them develop important skills such as sharing, empathy, communication, conflict resolution, and collaborative play. Guided by the Early Years Learning Framework, our play-based programs support children’s literacy, numeracy, and cognitive development while encouraging curiosity and a love of learning. I am proud to lead a team of dedicated educators, including Diploma-qualified educators and three Early Childhood Teachers. Together, we provide high-quality education and care, delivering learning programs tailored to each child’s individual needs, interests, and stage of development.

Building strong partnerships with families is at the heart of what we do. I believe open communication, trust, and collaboration are essential in supporting children’s learning, development, and wellbeing. By working closely with families and valuing their insights, we can provide the best possible outcomes for every child in our care.

Our daughter has just started at Casa Bambini (attending for one month so far) & the transition and welcome has been warm and attentive. We are thrilled with the educators, the care they provide and the updates and information we receive. So far it has been a wonderful experience & we feel confident that our daughter is safe and thriving in their care.

Our experience with Casa Bambini South Plympton has been really nice. Our little one started going at 8 months for 1 day a week to be introduced to the new environment and despite she was a needy kid, she was always taken care of really well. We used to send our little one for only about a hour or a couple and everytime we went in there to pick her up, the educators were always caring for her as she was exploring her new environment and made her comfortable. Since then and after about 3 years, we cannot be happier as the way our little one has grown and mature, the way she is being nurtured and groomed from the way new foods were introduced (despite a fussy eater) to the new friends she made there. Everything has turned out really well and I would say the educators and the environment Casa Bambini South Plympton provides play an important role. I will give 5 stars to Casa Bambini South Plympton.
