JUSTINE, Director, KiDZSPOT Dilga & KiDZSPOT Lima, Erskine Park

My name is Justine and I am the Director of KiDZSPOT Dilga and Lima in Erskine Park.

I began my journey in childcare in 2008, and went on to complete my Bachelor Degree in Early Childhood Education in 2015. During my career in childcare, I have worked across all age groups, spending most of my time with the preschoolers aged 3-5 years.

My main aim is to provide a caring and loving educational experience for all children making sure each child feels a sense of belonging when in our environment. Having a child start school is a huge milestone not only for the child but also their families - I believe it is our job, as Early Childhood Educators, to help shape and teach all children working in collaboration with families.

Our School Readiness Program is comprehensive and allows educators to teach children core foundational skills from literacy, numeracy and concepts to self-help skills. This gives children and families the information and knowledge making sure each child has the best support possible giving them the best head start in their schooling.

I am very passionate about my job as an Early Childhood Educator and love supporting, teaching and guiding each and every child along their journey in the first few years.

Hello! I’m Isabelle, the Centre Manager at KiDZSPOT Dilga and Lima in Erskine Park.

I knew that Early Childhood Education was exactly what I wanted to do from a very young age. I’ve always had a strong connection with young children so I couldn’t imagine a better way to turn my passion into a career.

The first 5 years of a child’s life are crucial in building the foundation for their future. I love being able to watch children grow and develop knowing that my work will have an immense impact on the people they will grow into mentally, emotionally and physically. I couldn’t imagine a more fulfilling vocation.

As an experienced Educator, my focus has always been to support and enlighten young impressionable minds. I am a strong believer that each child learns at their own pace and that we must adapt our learning strategies to match each child’s individual needs.

At KiDZSPOT Dilga, our focus is to build on play-based learning programs that appeal to a child’s natural curiosity and their need to engage in experiences as they make sense of the world around them.

From the moment we enrolled our little one at KiDZSPOT, the experience has been nothing short of exceptional. Starting at Dilga, the specialist centre for babies and toddlers, the environment felt like a warm, cosy home adapted perfectly for tiny people—right down to the baby-safe furnishings and hygienic spaces. 

The educators were outstanding. When the time came to transition to Lima (the preschool), the centre made it a seamless, positive experience.

The program at Dilga is made up of only 2 Focus Groups: 

• TOT Spotz for babies aged between 4 months to 2 years
• MiNi Spotz for toddlers aged between 2 to 3 years

Generally, all centres follow a structured, daily routine to keep activities and tasks running to a schedule. At the Dilga centre though things run a little differently because the centre just revolves around the care of babies and junior toddlers so a typical day really depends on the needs of the children.

Each child has their own routine that is in sync with their routine at home. The focus of the centre is the connection to family and home life so the children experience as much consistency as possible between the centre and home.

When we say our babies and youngest toddlers receive the attention they need, we mean it.

When a Dilga child reaches the age of 3, they are moved to our pre-school centre, KiDZSPOT Lima. Lima is a niche pre-school service (with long day care hours) that has a dedicated school readiness program.

KiDZSPOT has a structured transition program to ensure our Dilga children are well prepared for the move to Lima. Our kids love it because it prepares them for the real big move, which will be from Lima to kindergarten.

Developed by degree qualified Early Childhood Teachers, each program is designed to reflect the cognitive, physical, social & emotional milestones of the age group’s developmental stage. The program is based on delivering a holistic experience through play….an experience that encompasses each child's strengths, weaknesses and interests.

Where a child is today is not necessarily where they should be; some children will be ahead while others may need time to catch up. Our approach is to bring out the best in each child as we develop and assess their progress against their age as well as their developmental stage, interests and their overall needs.

Food and nutrition is an integral part of the general program. Mealtimes are not just about being fed, there are two key elements that go into how we do food: the first is around educating children about food so they can grow to understand the impact diet has on our overall well-being. By exposing children to good food and good eating habits, we are establishing the right eating practices that should stay with them for life. The second is the social aspect of food. By creating positive experiences around mealtimes, we are shaping how children master social norms around eating and dining. 

KiDZSPOT provides 5 meals a day. Our meals are prepared and delivered by Kids Gourmet Food to each centre every day. Working with childhood nutritionists and dieticians, Kids Gourmet Food has qualified chefs who create menus for all age groups, including puree menus for babies as young as 4 months old. 

In accordance with the Australian Dietary Guidelines, meals contain a variety of food from the 5 main food groups: fresh vegetables and legumes, seasonal fruits, wholegrains and seeds, lean fresh meat and fish, and dairy options. Menus rotate every 6 weeks to give children variety and diversity at mealtimes. 

For babies aged 4 to 12 months, the menu rotates every 3 weeks and includes 2 x meat & vegetable-based fresh purees and 2 x fruit-based fresh purees. And we only provide milk, no formulas.

Different dietary requirements

Protecting children with food allergies is a top priority. Meals are suitable for any dietary requirement, including vegetarians and those with cultural or religious preferences. 

All KiDZSPOT Centres are nut and egg free zones.
