Our experience at The Gap Cubbyhouse Montessori began positively, and several of the educators were genuinely excellent.<br><br>Within roughly five months, however, our son's lead educator left, a new teacher was introduced, the classrooms were merged, a long-serving educator finished, the Centre Director was replaced and the second-in-charge role changed — with building works flagged after that. Individually, each may have had a perfectly reasonable explanation. But a three-year-old does not experience them separately. For him it was one continuous loss of the adults and the room he knew. Stability was among the main reasons we chose a Montessori service, and its absence was ultimately why we left.<br><br>We were also disappointed that, after giving formal written notice, we received no written acknowledgement, no final statement of account and no return of our bond until we followed the matter up two weeks later. As at the date of this review we are still awaiting a payment date and an itemised final invoice requested twice.<br><br>For prospective families, I would suggest asking about staff continuity, how long the current leadership team has been in place, and how educator departures are managed. Those questions came to matter to us far more than the centre's stated philosophy.

We absolutely love Cubby House Montessori, The Gap. My son has thrived since starting there, more independent, confident and happy. The educators are truly caring and respectful, and the Montessori environment is calm and full of learning opportunities. As a mum, it gives me so much peace of mind to know he’s in a place where he’s genuinely loved and supported. Highly recommend!

Both my girls have absolutely thrived at Cubbyhouse! Could not ask for a better environment, more caring and knowledgeable educators and wonderful community. Genuinely heartbroken when it was time to go to school.

We have been a part of the Montessori community for 2 years now and are so happy with our decision. The educators are fantastic and we love the Montessori way. We love the philosophy and the way the days are run. Our next child starts next year and we’re so happy to continue these early years with this community.

We have had three children go through Cubbyhouse and we couldn’t be happier. The Montessori pedagogy is wonderful for promoting independence and a different way of learning, and I have been amazed at what my kids have been able to do from such a young age. The educators are also wonderful and so caring. Our children are incredibly happy here.

Our son has been attending Cubbyhouse for about 18 months and in that time we’ve seen the immense benefits of their Montessori approach on his overall development - including fostering independence and greater confidence in his own abilities. The communication is excellent and the educators are all extremely warm, friendly and willing to chat about any concerns or issues. The food choices are also fantastic! We are lucky to have this centre so close to home :)

Cubby has been and continues to be a beautiful place for our little ones to learn and grow. The Montessori approach works wonderfully for fostering curiosity and independence in the early years. My oldest went to Prep very prepared and excited to learn. Beyond that, Cubby has always been a safe place for my kids to develop friendships, the menu is great, and staff are always responsive to concerns as they arise. We changed from a different centre, and watched our child flourish from a reserved and unsure little person, into a happy and quietly confident Preppie. Equally happy with the younger rooms, staff are so patient and kind!

I am updating my previous 5-star review because, unfortunately, our experience changed significantly over time.<br><br>When our son first joined The Gap Cubbyhouse Montessori, we were genuinely happy with the centre and the educators, which is why I originally left such a positive review. Sadly, during the later part of his time there, we became increasingly concerned about behaviours he was being exposed to and the impact they appeared to be having on him.<br><br>We raised our concerns with the centre on several occasions. From our perspective, there were times when the level of supervision and observation did not appear sufficient to properly identify and address the interactions and behaviours that concerned us.<br><br>In an early childhood environment, we believe careful observation is essential—not only to protect and support children who may not yet be able to advocate for themselves, but also to guide children who are still learning boundaries and socially appropriate behaviour.<br><br>After several discussions and considerable thought, we ultimately felt that we had no choice but to withdraw our son from the centre. This was an extremely difficult and painful decision for our family. The saddest part was that, although he had formed attachments there, he did not seem to develop a sense of belonging or feel truly connected to the environment.<br><br>It has now been about a month since we withdrew him, and we still feel deeply saddened by how his time there ended. I sincerely hope our experience encourages greater attention to active supervision, observation, communication with families, and appropriate guidance of children's social interactions.
