So sorry to have not known about the Surry Hilla gang reunion recently .. it would have been wonderful to celebrate and share memories. I was the first director of the newly opened centre in the 1970s ..we had a wonderful team and those years lay the foundation of my lasting passion for early childhood education and it’s importance for our children Cheers Sue Robertson
Hi Sue, Thanks for taking the time to reach out to us. We are very disappointed to not have been able to open up the invitation to as many recipients as we would have liked to. Given the limited space, we were restricted opening up our doors to this event beyond our current children, families and staff, and few selected special guests. Having said, we'd like to recognise and celebrate the value you provided the centre since it's re-opening in the 1970s and understand your experience as Director at the time. We'd like to welcome you for a visit at the centre at a convenient time and date, with meet with our current team. My 2 kids went to SDN Surry hills and they had the best time! The staff is absolutely amazing! They provide great learning activities in a positive, safe and caring environment.

The centre is part of SDN Children's Services, which is a not for profit organisation.
The centre first opened its doors in 1918, and has been a place of warmth and welcome ever since. Knowing and being active in the local community is important to our team and we pride ourselves on the connections we have made and maintained over the years, all the while watching the local area transform into the vibrant, creative and colourful place it is today.
Relationships with children, families and one another are the basis of our educational program and we know children need to feel safe and welcomed to reach their full potential.
Our learning environments are developed over days, weeks, months and years, with problem-solving, creativity and collaboration among our most valued teaching and learning tools. Our playground is a place of natural wonder and a rare gem in this inner city suburb - brimming with mature gum trees, open space, lush gardens and home to our resident guinea pigs.
